Same. Brewers have him under control, right? Like another season or two? Could be a really nice trade in the long-run.

3 more.

Tonight was Kwan’s 31st game with 5 AB, it was only the second of those 31 games in which he failed to record a hit.

Wow

In 401 career games, this was only the 10th where he didn't reach base safely with 5 or more PA. Pretty special to shut him down like that!

The Brewers could set up a just disgustingly lights out bullpen in September.

9th - Williams
8th - Megill
7th - Payamps
Middle inning monsters - Mears, Yoho, Misiorowski
LHP - Hudson, Koenig
Swingman - Hall

Phantom IL/DFA - Ross, Wilson, Milner, Paredes

AAA - Peguero

Mears inning tonight was about as dominant you'll see. 8 pitches, 6 strikes. 4 swings, 4 whiffs. 2 called strikes. The Cleveland hitters couldn't touch him. He now has a 42.9% K-rate in his short time as a Brewer.

If you look sideways, shade your eyes & squint, you can kinda, sorta understand what they saw in Mears........🤔

Geez, that was impressive. Hell, he's pitched more than an inning a bunch this year, I would've brought him back out. But it's good to see Payamps continue the upward trend.

MORE good ABs from Mitchell. Maybe a corner is being turned.

Damn, that's a deep BP Cleveland has.

Think if that wasn't 3 times in 4 and 4 times in 6 for Mears that he would have come back out for the 9th. Plus they probably want to be careful with his usage with him already being at his career high in IP from 2019.

The same thing was said about Chourio.  I truly believe that young guys like Black need to play every day to figure things out.

While I agree he needs more time, that time needs to be out of the 3 hole in the lineup. But I can't blame anyone for being discouraged. He's a 24 year old Top 100 prospect who is a bat first prospect that has just been totally overmatched in his first 51 PA.

Also totally agree on Mitchell. Some of his best AB all season. Even that 1st AB strikeout was really nice where he was able to foul off 2 98mph pitches at the top of the zone and an 89mph changeup on the outer black.

I like this Mears kid.

Mears was so good I was hoping Murphy would let him pitch the 9th and get the save.

All I got re Black in the 3-hole, other than the L-R-L thing, is that with Yelich unavailable they feel really invested in him being able to fill the DH slot & think putting him in front of Contreras & Adames might get him more pitches to hit & increase the chances of him locking in.

If that's the case then so far, so not-so-good.

He's definitely getting pitches to hit. At least today he did.

AB1 - hanging slider right down the middle on a 1-1 count

AB2 - 2 middle-middle FB in the AB, hit a soft line drive single off the 2nd

AB3 - get me over curveball pitch 1 that was a can of corn in LF

AB4 - 2 straight sliders that caught a good chunk of the plate

Too many moving parts. That front foot has to change.

That would be awesome. Don't think it happens but one can dream.
