Nice quick inning from Civale. If he can go 5 with 2 runs today I'd take that.

8 pitches only they just said.

It's been a minute since Adames made a play at SS. Good to see.

I know there were 75 posts the 1st inning and now silence when we took the lead. ADD maybe?

If he doesn't perform, which he hasn't, they won't have much of a choice. I don't think they gave up anything that they'd be too stubborn to just cut their losses on.

The Brewers stuck with Chafin last year after he clearly didnt perform. At least Mears has three years of control left. I agree he should only be pitching in mopup roles at this point.  The Brewers have eight relievers and will get a ninth in a week.  They can hide Mears on the roster if they want to.  Hopefully we wont be saying no lead is Mears proof like we did with Chafin.  My point is that it would be unlike the Brewers if they cut him after a month.

The A's look much more like a team 18 games under .500 than a team with the 4th best record in baseball since the beginning of July.

They gave up two decent pitching prospects for him less than a month ago, so yes, I think it would be a shocking move for the Brewers.  I had assumed getting Mears was a longer term thing since his numbers this year were not all that impressive at the time of the trade.  It seemed like they thought they could make some tweaks to fix him and that usually takes longer than a month to come to realization.

I don’t trust Mears or Milner at all

I do trust Paredes & Hall

I’m not a fan of Wilson either

Otherwise - I like our bullpen

The more I see of some teams, I'm convinced we take for granted having good defense.  Even our frustrating miscues tend to look mild compared to some of this.

I think it's unlikely that Mears will be DFA'ed this year.  However, I would expect him to have to earn a bullpen spot next year and not be a lock.

Mark Kotsay is Oakland's manager???

I can never look at him without being reminded that Ron Roenicke thought he was a competent enough defensive CFer to stick him out there in his twilight years with the season on the line.

I'm more upset that Roenicke started Marcum when he obviously had a dead arm at that point instead of Narveson who had pretty good success against the Cardinals.
