Way out of baseline…and I think out on tag before he hits plate.
We’ll take it as make up from St. Louis.

The baseline is whatever line the runner takes to a base. (There is a special rule relating to the running lane from home to first..)

A runner is only out for running out of the baseline if he leaves the line to avoid a tag. That doesn’t apply to that play.

Runners taking a line that puts them in the path of a potential throw is common and not prohibited.

Get a C̶h̶a̶f̶i̶n̶  Mears-proof lead here.

Just saw that Colorado put Blalock right into their rotation and he's been good so now I'm more annoyed.

They probably saw some adjustments that they could make and fixed him.

Bryse Wilson seems like the perfect choice when you're comfortable with your lead but not that comfortable.

I kinda wish this was Mears....as now Mears is almost guaranteed to pitch tomorrow and it prolly won't be with a 5 run lead....

The manager tells the umpire "We already used our challenge but we want you to look at it again anyway" and the umpire says "okay."

Thought it had to be after the 7th/8th inning for crew review?

You knew me as Myday2001.

If the starter today for the A's - Boyle - learns command, look out.

Yeah...but there's a few guys in MLB you could say that for. It's definitely easier said than done.

If Bryse Wilson can't handle a 5 run lead without having to get another reliever hot, he doesn't need to be in this bullpen anymore.

Yeah that's a fair point. You won't be able to just ask in those mid-innings. But late it never hurts to just use it.

Bryce developing a left toe contusion out there for his upcoming IL trip.

Or perhaps just getting himself DFA'd.

I love those ugly 9-5 wins sometimes.  Thank god this team tries to get runs late.    For some reason I don’t have a lot of faith in close games for the relievers

and I know their overall numbers are good

Currently a 1/2 G lead on the Phillies for the coveted #2 spot. I would absolutely not want to be making the bullpen roster decisions moving forward. It's an absolute smorgasbord of better options in Nashville at present to bolster the Pen for the playoff push and into the playoffs. Paredes, Peguero, Ashby, Miz, and Yoho could legitimately swap out over half the MLB Pens currently rostered. Ashby has been absolutely revelatory his past five outings and last night sat 97 and touched 98 - 98.5 mph on that sinker on several occasions. Dare I say he is absolutely back? This is a good problem to have overall but, again, the entire decision-making process is way above my pay grade. I just hope they can press the right buttons.

Momentarily, we have pulled ahead of the Phillies for the 2 seed in the NL.

As recently as July 13th, they were 29 games over .500, when we were only 12 over. Didn't realize how much they've scuffled in the 2nd half. 12-20. Ouch.
