Out of 243 pitchers in the International League with at least 40 IP, Herget came in at…

2.46 FIP (2nd) | 2.27 ERA (8th) | 3.23 xFIP (3rd) | 5.36 K to BB ratio (4th) | 32.4 K% (15th) | 6.0 BB% (13th) | 0.38 HR9 (6th) | 0.94 WHIP (2nd)

Have to imagine in an organization with a less stacked bullpen he would’ve gotten more of an MLB look than the 8.2 low leverage IP over two brief call ups in May/June he’s gotten so far with the Brewers this year.

Believe he is mostly four seam / cutter with the change up as the out pitch.

Thanks!

You mean like the way Corbin Burnes scuffled out of the pen in September and October in 2018?

Burnes pitched in 30 games and 38 innings in the regular season that year. Expecting a player to come up and pitch in the playoffs after getting at most a handful of games is not close to the same thing.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Not to straight-up call Herget a sacrificial lamb, but I'm guessing just on timing and looking at a potential postseason roster that Herget's role in this last week plus is to chew up as many innings as possible and provide as much rest as possible for the pitchers on this team who are going to be key to winning October baseball games for us and desperately need the rest.

Herget, Milner, and maybe even  Colin Rea should be going as much as possible down the stretch because they likely won't be needed after that.

I hope he pitches well to boost both himself and the Brewers. To bad he cannot provide more length.

Not sure of the rules now but if the Brewers call up Owen Miller to replace Monasterio would he be eligible for the post-season?  The Brewers offense is going into a shell again at WRONG TIME.  This happened in '21 and we saw what happened to them against the Braves.  They have to score runs period to advance to the NLDS.

With the open 40 man spot could certainly go with Miller for the playoffs, don't think he would take Monasterio's spot but the one currently occupied by Collins. Not a big fan of Miller but he has shown he can get hot in the majors for short stints and has more experience then the other guys.

When was he called up in 2018?
