Wisconsin vs. Alabama - Saturday, 9/14/24, 11am Central

Can UW pull off the mother of all upsets at home?  Or will it be Miami 1989?

I think back to 1992.  Coming off of a 5-6 season but only 2-6 in the Big Ten and in their 2nd year with a highly-touted new coach, UW faced #2 Washington on the road in the opener.  Lost, but it was a respectfully close 27-10 considering the other UW was #2 and it was on the road.  Then, three weeks later, they knock off #12 Ohio State at home in the Big Ten opener.  UW went on to finish 5-6 again, but three of their conference losses were by 2 points or less and a 4th by 7 points, which gave them the confidence to propel them to the magical 1993 season.

I think it's somewhere between that Washington and Ohio State game.  They lose, but closer than most people think.

If Alabama loses this game it will be a few more decades before another SEC team dares to come to Camp Randall.

I’d love to see bad things happen to Kalen DeBoer but I think Alabama takes it 35-13.

That game in Seattle I believe was Darrell Bevells' 1st indication he should have the keys to the offense. Came in late & showed pretty well.

They came out with their hair on fire when they played OSU last year & made it interesting for awhile. I could see that happening again, but what scares me is Alabama wearing them down with their combination of physical play & speed & things getting ugly in the 2nd half. They'll need a couple three turnovers & we haven't been able to generate them all that much. And somehow make Milroe a pocket passer on some predictable down & distance passing situations, which means the D-line has to at least occupy some blockers on early downs.

About a 26-pt spread. Hope I'm wrong.

What really sucks about this game is that the Badgers have the CB's to play with Alabama and really with anyone.  But the Badgers just don't have a defensive line that is going to make a QB throw a ball into coverage or even press the QB consistently let alone stop the run game.  Even a coverage sack is hard for this group to come by.

I think the Badgers stay close in the 1st half and just run out of gas in the 2nd and get blown out in the 2nd half.  Something like 14-6 in the first half only to lose 38-13 in the second half.

Are we thinking ACL?

The fact that he blew his knee prior to contact is not good. This Locke guy looks like he can fling it though, maybe he’ll settle down and connect on a few.

At least the fans get to have a bit of fun for a while. Would be entertaining to get more points now.

I was thinking it was at MSU in 1979.

1989 MSU I was at that one too. Cold and nasty late November butt kicking and we stayed for the whole thing.

I guess Longo loved our short yardage shotgun results last year so much he decided to try it again...shameful at UW.
