Would you claim Patrick Wisdom if you ran the Brewers? 

He certainly has his warts as a low average/low OBP hitter but has a projected arb salary of just 3 million in ‘25 and isn’t a FA until after ‘26 has hit 88 homers in 1473 career PAs or one every 16.7 PA and is capable of playin 1B, 3B, LF and RF.

Would fit the power bat off the bench with some defensive versatility. 
 

If it were me, I’d take a 3 million dollar gamble and claim him on waivers to fill the Jake Bauers roll in ‘25

No. He has no place on the Brewers roster. Bauers was a LHH. Wisdom is a RHH which makes him redundant with Hoskins.

Patrick Wisdom and Keston Hiura is a pretty fun comparison.

Among 425 players with at least 1,000 PAs since Patrtick's debut in 2018 they come in at a 163 K%+ (Wisdom) and a 160 K%+ (Hiura) which are the 3rd and 6th highest marks in the sample.

They both strike out at epic rates, so why does Wisdom have an extra 389 PAs for his career and a whopping 895 more PAs than Hiura since 2021?

For one, Patrick walks more (103 to 81 on BB%+) and hit for way more power when he does connect (154 to 121 on ISO+).

For two, as bad as Wisdom in the field with a combined -16 DRS over 2,863 innings at 3B/1B/OF for his career, Keston comes in at -17 DRS in only 1,237 innings at 2B.

If you didn't already have Hoskins I could see it.  Or simply put, him at 3 mil or Hoskins at 17, I'd probably take him.     But with current roster I don't see it, you have Black to take the Bauers role already and he's LH so it makes more sense and is cheaper. 

If I recall, he's below avg at D too so don't really see it as a cheap Dejong type guy to play 3B either
