I think the Cardinals might think about it IF they are dumping payroll. The Brewers would have fill 1B with power before they even think about this. Would Arrenado waive his NTC to go to Milwaukee? If the Brewers are looking to rid themselves of Hoskins' contract, why in the world would they invest $67M in an aging veteran? At a time when the Brewers are looking to cut payroll, Arrenado and Yelich would take up about 40% of the entire payroll. Walker further adds to the outfield backlog. Too many unknowns.

I would trade hoskins and carlos f rodriguez for arenado as long as stl ate the deffered money so we would take on 3 years and 52 mil

Still-potent bat & an excellent glove.  I'd do something similar to the originally-proposed (in this thread) Hoskins trade for Arenado.  If Goldy would sign for something reasonable, just maybe we could afford both?

No, the Cardinals are trying to cut payroll so they won't be willing to take on new salaries even if it is replacing one.  Basically the only way the Cardinals are taking on salary is if they are paying for Arenado to get a better prospect.  They would have -100000000% interest in acquiring Hoskins.

Arenado has approximately zero, perhaps slight negative value on his current contract.  He has a projected 5.1 or so wins over the next two seasons while being paid $59m with $12m deferred so close to a wash. Hoskins would be included just to take on prospects, but real prospects not bench players and organizational pitchers.  Something equivalent to a FV 45+ player.

It's not that anyone "hates" them. It's just most of your ideas are far fetched, and not something small market teams can afford to do.

Walker can play 1B. He's a capable defender at 3rd, he just hasn't because of Arrenado.

I don't think the Cardinals even consider this deal.

Walker needs regular playing time. He's still got massive upside. Arrenado is still a good 3B and with the Rox paying part of his deal(I think it's 10M over the next 3 years) you get him for 3/64 and you're giving up 22M in GTD salary in return?

This is the most no-brainer trade of all time. Arrenado is not 3 and 42. We'd give him that. Walker is definitely worth acquiring.

My man...they're doing this to dump salary.

But in this scenario, they take back 22M in GTD salary Hoskins is owed. So take the ~64M they owe Arrenado and subtract that.

And then they give away Jordan Walker...who you want for a reason and they trade him as well. And their return is a bad contract, a guy who was a FA MiLB pitcher and Tyler Black who...he's nice, but only save a little money this year and get back that package? In a rebuilding year?
