June 14, 2023 - RH reliever Taylor Floyd is identified as the PTBNL in the April 30th trade for Trevor Megill. (Cash considerations also went to the Twins).

Floyd turns 28 in December. Somewhat surprisingly, he has yet to be assigned to AAA in his career.

After pitching for the Mariners at the AA Texas League in 2025 - actually Floyd has pitched exclusively in the Texas League since leaving the Timber Rattlers the day of the trade - Floyd's new organization for 2026 is Cincinnati (new minor league deal).

In what is believed to be his final winter league game for 2025, Jadher Areinamo is playing shortstop Sunday for the first time this winter season (all other 31 starts at second base). No problem, he'll just do this:

Oh, and he's 2-for-2 (so far), batting .364 with a 1.121 OPS in a historical season for a rookie in Venezuela.

Well, it certainly appears there is very strong( and multiple) interest in one MLB returning RHP Cody Ponce.

Lengthy write-up HERE (discussing his velo bump to 94-96 avg touching 98 as well as kick change and splitter adds). Of note, is his likely massive incoming pay bump:

Interest in the 6’6″ righty indeed appears strong. Ken Rosenthal and Katie Woo of The Athletic reported this morning that Ponce could more than double the $15MM guarantee secured by Erick Fedde in his return to Major League Baseball from the Korea Baseball Organization two offseasons ago. Clubs are generally expecting Ponce to command a three-year contract, per The Athletic report. Fedde’s $15MM guarantee is the largest a North American pitcher has received upon returning from the KBO, so doubling that (or more) would establish a new precedent.

Hey now, Mr. Ray! Just a few years after his first opportunity  coaching at the Cubs' Low-A affiliate (Myrtle Beach - Carolina League) and after a season as the Cubs' ACL manager and system base running coordinator, old friend OF Corey Ray is now an MLB coach!

The Yankees love them some Brewers farm system products.  C Payton Henry is the third former Milwaukee prospect to sign with New York this week.

Wait I thought Stearns went the Mets 😉😂.

But yeah the Brewers minor league FAs like their minor league rule 5 players are hot commodities.

Success will do that.

The Rays have given permission to Jadher Areinamo (Danny Jansen trade) to return to Venezuelan Winter League play, not only to assist his team, but also in a quest for the league's Triple Crown, which the recently turned 22-year-old is attempting to accomplish in his rookie winter season.

Source: "The information about Areinamo was released by journalist Efraín Zavarce, during the IVC broadcast. The journalist quoted Wilfredo Polidor, the recruit's agent, who confirmed that the slugger will wear a uniform again this season.

So far, Areinamo has an offensive line of .368/.420/.692, only surpassed by Gorkys Hernandez in the batting lead (.372).

The return of the slugger, who has not played since November 30, is scheduled for next Tuesday against Caracas.

At the time of saying goodbye to the tournament, the player had 17 consecutive games giving at least one hit, which speaks of his offensive capacity.

His absence allowed Balbino Fuenmayor to surpass him in home runs 14 vs 13, and in RBIs he is second with 43 to Wilson García's 46."

The Rays have pulled the plug on Jadher Areinamo’s winter league season in Venezuela, telling him to instead get ready for spring training.

Areinamo was playing about as well as anyone in the Venezuelan Winter League until Nov. 30, when he had to leave La Guaira to apply for an extended visa. That came through and he was set to rejoin the team today, but the Rays decided to deny permission for that to happen. The 22-year-old Areinamo was hitting .364/.420/.693 with 13 homers in 36 games for the Tiburones. He leads the circuit in OPS and was tops in homers when he departed, with only Balbino Fuenmayor having overtaken him since.
