The game’s over, but here’s that High-A Wisconsin lineup for the team which went 1-for-12 with RISP and stranded 10 baserunners in their 3-1 loss at Peoria today. 7 Rattlers’ hitters stranded those RISP, excluding Juan Baez (2-for-4, double, RBI) and Yhoswar Garcia (1-for-3, double, walk).

It must be a bit maddening for Manager Estevez that he can’t just play Areinamo at shortstop every day, instead putting E. Garcia and Guilarte out there yesterday and today. I’d also imagine he was tempted to let Matt Wood pinch hit in any of the 7th, 8th or 9th innings.

Hopefully this game marks a turning point for Dikember Sanchez (fly out, K, ground out; 11 pitches, 8 strikes). He’d walked 12 batters in his prior 6.1 IP.

The AAA Sounds aim to double their home series lead over Norfolk behind RHP Deivi Garcia (3.47 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 23.1 IP). SS Freddy Zamora has a 6-game hitting streak.

I just noticed this unusual line from last night’s T-Rats box score:

Alastre   4  2  0  2

Productive outs!  Or something.

Very nice opening inning for RHP Deivi García. 2 K's - both on well placed and sequenced cutters. A 108 mph ground out to 2B by the very dangerous 20-year-old 1B/C/DH lefty Samuel Basallo (homered to straight away CF last night off Woody).

Consecutive singles, the second a 3-2 swinging bunt variety, has two men aboard vs García in the second frame. Tough luck there. He follows with his third K (swinging) - all on cutters.

1-1 RBI single. Oliva, the savvy vet he is, wisely cuts down the runner attempting to advance to 3B. Two down. 1-0 Norfolk leads.

García grabs his 4th K on a 95 mph upper corner of the zone four-seamer. K swinging. Sounds will look to bite into the Tides early lead.

Two Sounds Updates:

RHP Aaron Civale is rehabbing tomorrow (likely pushing Henderson into a bullpen role)

AND even better news (for me, at least)

EMJ went through a full work out today and is likely going to appear for the first time in two some weeks tomorrow or Friday. Let's go!

Wes Clarke walk. An Alfaro infield weakly hit single (take that Norfolk!). A Seigler deep fly out to deep LF foul territory sees both Clarke and Alfaro reading the tag opportunity. Runners advance to 2nd and 3rd. Reynel Delgado follows with a seeing eye single up the gut into CF plating two. He quickly steals his 9th base in a bang-bang play. Zamora to the dish. 2-2 game.

EMJ has an exit velo machine to contend with on these Tides. Basallo's HR last night was 100 mph plus? He has the 108 mph ground out and just hit a 115.9 mph single to RF. This man can absolutely mash a baseball.

Consecutive games CF Jared Oliva has been thrown out trying to grab one extra base. Here in the 3rd he hit a bloop pop single to shallow RF. He thought he may be able to grab that extra bag. Not to be. He was thrown out trying to get back to 1B. Dunn to the dish. He lines out hard to the rehabbing O'Neil in RF.

Rain is really starting to come down after brief sprinkles in the third frame. We are going to start the top of the 4th, regardless but don't be surprised if this leads to a delay down the line.

A Clarke walk (his second of his night). A masterfully executed bunt down the 3B line by C Anthony Seigler. Two men aboard for Raynel Delgado for the second time. If you recall, he tied things earlier with a 2-RBI single.

The fifth inning gets away from García - not a whole lot of hard contact in there just some seeing-eye hits through the gaps. He ends with a walk and is pulled. The Sounds trail 5-2 and RHP Sam McWilliams will come aboard and look to stop the bleeding.

I am interested to see how Mercedes’ start goes. Him being brought over for spring training seemed to come out of nowhere since he barely pitched last year.

Well first inning was something! Looks like tonight has pitch data again.

2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO

22 pitches, 13 strikes

If the numbers are correct he had 9 whiffs on 13 swings.

Struck out the side in inning 2.

2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO

38 pitches, 25 strikes

5 called strikes, 12 whiffs (20 swings)

That's a 60% whiff rate and 45% CSW rate

Heck of a come back sixth inning here for the Sounds bats. Just hitting it where Strowd pitches it. A Alfaro screamer double to the deepest part of the park in right CF. A masterful tying RBI bunt single by Jimmy Herron. Another seeing eye single for Raynel Delgado (3 RBI on the night). 6-6 game.

Oliver Dunn has a chance to get the Sounds ahead now. Bases juiced. Two down. He is 0-for-2 coming into this AB including a hard hit line out to RF. Now down 0-2 on a swing and miss. And an elevated heater gets the check swing sword and Dunn K's. 6-6. A four run 6th. 10 men reached bases. Three remained. On to the 7th.

Clarke has been eaten up by two low throw skips from Dunn and now Zamora deep in the SS hole. Go ahead run now reaches 2B. Zamora doesn't exactly excel in those situations. He had the time for a better throw - it was bang-bang but Zamora just doesn't have that consistency in his bag. Throw was low and across Clarke's body on a short hop. Maybe could have caught it. Regardless, error is charged to Zamor.
