Brewers at Pirates; Thursday, May 22 @ 5:40 p.m.: Carlos Rodriguez (7.30 2024 ERA, 5.60 2024 FIP, 1.99 2025 MiLB ERA) vs. Mike Burrows (2.70 2024 ERA, 8.57 2024 FIP, 2.51 2025 MiLB ERA)

I really don't understand why in a game where you claim the priority was preserving your pen you have Zastryzny pitch the 5th inning when you know that there's a potential for a rain delay later in the game. If this game resumes after a longer rain delay then we will need our complete spent bullpen to get at least 7 outs.

Cutch is getting long in the tooth.  He's 38.  A couple of years ago he would have scored on that double.

Unless he forgets to slide…

If I'm seeing the radar correctly, it looks like it's going to rain for a while.  Does anyone know the current rules for ending a game early, or suspending a game, or how that works in 2025?

Has anyone hinted at how long this delay will be?  I think I'll get off the stream and come back later on tonight.

Agreed - at this point i half expect Murphy to try running Rodriguez out again after the rain delay with how jumpy he is making pitching changes

My understanding is that they've completed five innings, so the game can be called early.

That would be best case scenario for the Brewers bullpen.

Yeah looks like from what I see online the ability to call a game early due to weather is still in place.  Now on a less important note, does anyone know if the stats count from this inning or do they consider the game over after 5 innings?

Who is available to pitch the final three innings?

Is it safe for a young pitcher like Rodriguez to throw again?

Why on earth would Murphy got to Zastryzny so early when he knew rain was coming?
