Dog piles of grown men wearing metal spikes sprinting towards pitching mounds or home plate celebrating are generally not a good idea.  It's amazing how frequently players actually do get hurt in these scenarios.  I get being excited and celebrating, but can there be at least a little bit of "act like you've been there before" mentality to avoid these sort of injuries?

I believe it was reported this was more of a slip in the clubhouse portion of the celebration.

Amen to that. The over celebration in modern baseball is out of control. Every routine hit, the guy has to look into the dugout for affirmation and recognition to stroke his fragile ego. HR's have guys getting costumed in the dugout or parading around with some silly prop. The walk off celebrations are totally over the top. Don't recall seeing such excessive exuberance in the 80's. Like you said... "act like you been here before". Much more professional. This is the negative side effects of our social media culture which is fueled by narcissism.

As far as Wilken goes, I've not seen any details as to how it happened. It might have been as simple as slipping on a puddle of champagne while wearing cleats, and I can't blame a guy for that.

Hope this doesn't domino into Burke getting moved up to AA just yet. Had plans to catch a Rattler game in a few weeks as part of a driving vacation.

A few weeks?  Even if the need for him to get bumped up didn't occur, no way he was going to be in Appleton in a few weeks.  His days were numbered already.

Yes, probably so. This is my first year of regularly following the farm clubs, so I'm not familiar with when guys typically get elevated or sent down a level. Hoping he sticks until late July,

I had this injury 20 years ago. It’s likely advancements have been made. I rehabbed after the dislocation and was back to 100% about 2 months later, only to have it dislocate again 8 months after that. After the 2nd dislocation, surgery was required because there was too much ligament damage. Wasn’t back to 100% until 6 months post-surgery. Hopefully he can rehab and not have it happen again but who knows. Tatis tried to do this with his shoulder and it kept popping out, eventually had surgery. Fingers crossed!

Rosiak reporting non-surgical route for Wilken with an 8-10 week timeline. Pretty much in line with what I said. Really hope it doesn’t dislocate again!  That would almost certainly lead to the surgical route. Get healthy soon, Brock!

I think the celebrations are a bit over the top, but I certainly don't want to go back to LaRussa's teams beaning people because someone smiled after hitting a HR.

I like the team celebrations after every hit... You see it as narcissism, but I see it as team unity and rally energy it brings the team.  I can do without the props though... they made sense when it was a team identity... but it has gotten way too silly. I'm still trying to figure out why the Twins use a Roman legionnaire helmet after a HR.  At least the Brewers using a Cheesehead made sense given the team identity.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I'm not quite as grumpy about the celebrating while on base with the dugout, That has always existed to some degree and rightfully so. I just think it's a bit more flamboyant than in my youth, and also the TV production looks for it now, so it's more evident. I just prefer a simple fist pump or something. The dugout costume / prop stuff is hopefully a quickly passing fad designed as entertainment for young and casual adult fans who view going to a game as an amusement park, Savana Banana type event rather than serious, top level baseball. Same thing with the city connect jersey nonsense. No better way to add revenues than to sucker a bunch of fly by night fans into buying gaudy merch. That's what it takes for slow paced MLB to remain relevant in an UFC / NFL culture I suppose.

Has there been any more recent injury update on Wilken beyond what has been shared in this thread? Adams too for that matter.

This is what I find the most frustrating.

Seems like Wilken is out for the year but Adams...sore shoulder, tear his shoulder up, what's up there?

LaRussa's teams have a LEGIT gripe. It was the taunting, it was making the game all about themselves(and the other OFers) and it was showing up the other team SOO much when... the OFers were... untucking their shirts.

Can you imagine that? There are kids watching. Possibly even Chris Carpenter's kids.

How do you explain that to them? Untucking your top shirt after the game, but still on the field? I for one cannot abide such tomfoolery...

Add me to the list of those curious about Adams. Sounded at the time like it was a fairly short term thing, and it's now been a month.

It seems to me like the Brewers exercise an abundance of caution with prospects(particularly with the important ones...this isn't like kids where we have to pretend we care about them all the same)...

I didn't think Adams would make it up this year... but I thought MAYBE there was a chance. If Hoskins... presuming he comes back, if he got hurt in the playoffs, MAYBE Adams comes back up here. All after a promotion to AAA that seemed inevitable.

I wasn't expecting anything more than Nashville for Wilken and Adams by years end.

Wilken and Adams were listed as 7 day IL around June 20-23. Still listed as 7 day IL. What is the point of listing it with a range of days if it's largely meaningless info? Aggravating. 8-10 week recovery for Wilken is basically season ending, but I haven't seen anything officially saying so.

They were both on the verge of a AAA promotion and leading AA by quite a bit in OPS. Adams had a .425 or so OBP. I wasn't expecting a promotion, but... it's hardly a stretch they get a call up if there is an injury at their position.

If you hit well in AA, you're always close to being called up.
