Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Nashville 6, Memphis (Cardinals) 1
Box Score and Game Log

As of this report time, no game summary issued by the Sounds.

Over his last four starts (23 innings), Tobias Myers has allowed only three runs, walking five and striking out 24. His progression topped out Friday night with his 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K effort.

The stacked Brewers rotation (Brandon Woodruff back tomorrow, Nestor Cortes not far behind) is oozing depth. Myers has pitched better of late than Logan Henderson, but at best is the 7th totem pole option behind Chad Patrick (8th when Cortes returns). If Matt Arnold wants to be especially bold dealing from that depth this month, he has the ability to do so. If nothing else, a young, controllable and potentially very effective starting rotation is shaping up for 2026.

Third catcher Nick Kahle (Jeferson Quero DH, Jorge Alfaro idle) doubled twice.

There haven't been a lot of Tyler Black highlights in 2025, but we had a sighting Friday:

Matt Childers AAA debut was uneven (1 IP, 1 R) as it included two walks and two wild pitches, but the damage was limited.

Congrats to new daddy Oliver Dunn and his wife.

Kudos to this short-handed Shuckers club, currently with just 11 position players. Going 8-for-18 with RISP helps, heck, getting 18 AB's in such situations is key.

Missed Opportunities Haunt Rattlers - Beloit bounces back from rough start to beat Wisconsin

The feel-good vibes of the Timber Rattlers being very competitive down the stretch in the first half despite little to no chance of qualifying for the division title are long gone. Not only is the team now 3-10 in the second half, but the mental blunders are building up. There were examples of egregious baserunning in this one, and not the kind attributed to being overly aggressive.

19-year-old (best I can do to soften the blow, point out he's still a teenager) Luiyin Alastre was picked off first base by the catcher with the bases loaded to end what had been a two-run Wisconsin first. That's unacceptable at any level of play, and Manager Victor Estevez makes note of the deadening effect that had on his team within the podcast linked below.

The Sky Carp were 5-for-5 on the basepaths, nothing unusual there as the entire Marlins' system has been hyper-focused on stealing bags this year. With Marco Dinges out, likely for at minimum a few more weeks, it's going to be a lot asking a lot of Blayberg Diaz and Victor Torres to guide this pitching staff from behind the dish.

Agreed, DeBerry was one pitch away from six shutties -

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Carolina 5, Fayetteville (Astros) 2
Box Score and Game Log

Mudcats Down Fayetteville

Big night for CF Braylon Payne, HR, single and walk -

We'll assume that Braylon's agent or his mom has access to Payne's "X" account, which reposted the above by the next half-inning. But if that wasn't the case, need to clean clubhouse phone access up, Manager Nick Stanley and staff. Teenagers and all...

Speaking of teenagers, these games in which RHP's Ethan Dorchies (18) and Jayden Dubanewicz (19) are handling the bulk of the innings are becoming must-see, must-follow. The two combined for 8.1 innings in which only one earned run was allowed. It was hardly perfect, as the pair walked seven and Dorchies hit a batter.

The numbers below for Fayetteville defines the duo "buckling down" - kudos also to RHP Dikember Sanchez who stranded two of Dorchies' baserunners, retiring the only batter he faced:

Team RISP: 0-for-15.
Team LOB: 13.

Final: ACL Brewers 7, ACL White Sox 4
Box Score and Game Log

Wow, nice for the desert:

Weather: 88 degrees, Sunny.
Wind: 4 mph, R To L.

The A-Crew trailed 1-0 through five innings before plating multiple runs in each of the 6th, 7th, and 8th frames.

"Large Mammal" RHP Nick Merkel, rehabbing via Biloxi, has retired all six batters he's faced in his two rehab appearances as he prepares for an eventual return to full-season ball.

Stellar work (again) from the tag-team of two 18-year-olds, LHP Enderson Mercado and RHP Ayendy Bravo - 7.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K.

Second baseman Josh Adamczewski drove in a run on a sacrifice fly as he works his way back to Carolina. He exited after seven innings, almost certainly planned.

The $1.4 million allocated to infielder Kevin Ereu in January of 2023 has not proved to be money well spent thus far, but he'll get the shoutout for two singles, a walk, and a stolen base (his 5th in nine attempts).

You'll find a nice series of posts on these three Friday matinee games at our forum thread beginning here. Thanks to one of our regular contributors, @sveumrules in particular, for the insights.

All seven Brewers affiliates play Saturday, but there's only six games as the two Dominican clubs face off. I'm particularly interested in seeing how the Shuckers fare against one of baseball's best pitching prospects, Marlins 20-year-old LHP Thomas White (shoutout to the Massachusetts native), the 35th overall pick in 2023, and making his third start at the AA level. Adding to that game's spotlight will be Biloxi starter Tyson Hardin, what a matchup!

Continue to be safe and enjoy the holiday weekend, everyone!

First - @Jim Goulart rookie mistake it was Will’s debut, not his dad Matt 😂

But it’s Not like anyone else did that last night in the game day thread 😉 lol. I think a lot of us who followed Matt (and Jason) will keep making these mistakes.

Will started out off probably over-throwing, this missing the zone. And walks the first two batters but he did settle down.  We have seen a lot of innings go bad.  But he got the third batter to ground out into a force. The camera angle was bad but it looked like a tailor made double play ball but I have no idea why it wasn’t.  So a sac fly scores a run and then he gets a final out (milb tv cut to commercial break which interrupted the last batter’s plate appearance). But Will did well to dig in to close out the inning, and his stuff will definitely play at AAA with his velocity as long as he commands it, and could some day follow in the footsteps of dad, Matt, maybe even a longer career.

Will was a ‘23 undrafted FA like KC Hunt.  Nice signings outside of the draft that year.

Watched some of Meyers last night and he looked sharp.  The velocity was there, and he kept hitters off balance which was seen in the stat sheet.  The key for him will be doing this a few starts in a row, then he can be Milwaukee bound again (or trade asset for a bigger trade?)

Brian Fitzpatrick had a couple scoreless frames for Biloxi putting him at 6 IP of 0 ER | 5 H | 1 BB | 11 K work since coming back off the IL a couple weeks ago.

Small samples all around, but out of 74 Brewers minor league pitchers with at least 20 IP so far he’s at a 1.73 ERA (5th) | 2.43 FIP (5th) | 2.84 xFIP (4th).

Kuehner was fantastic to start 2024 in Wisconsin. He realllllly struggled to end 2024 - carried into his playoff start vs Montgomery. He struggled to get going very early in 2025 - if I remember correctly he didn't get his first strikeout until his 3rd or 4th start? It was very odd and, at the time given the way he ended 2024, concerning. Since that time it's all come together and he's taken another leap. The thing I love about Kuehner is he can move the ball in all directions - ie he isn't limited to that sweeping slider as the strikeout pitch. He can dip his pitches arm side. And, he can play off the multi-directionality with a heater that plays up in the zone. He can bring that vertical with ride or he can tail it arm side as well. He has a lot of tools to work with - something I said in his first week as a Timber Rattler.

You never know how it will come together and evolve for a player when they face new levels of competition. - RHP K.C. Hunt's hiccup in his development path in 2025 speaks to this.  You never know if the dominant run will stick or it's a fleeting period of dominance. BUT, what we do know is LHP Tate Kuehner is deserving of flowers. It's really nice to see the recognition.

One of my favorite seasons despite the low volume due to IL. He is a completely different player today than when he first arrived in the system. He is now a chiseled and sleek tall lefty - he's done real work getting rid of the 'baby fat' (for a lack of a better term - sorry Brian! This is a real compliment.). AND, he is now completely on the attack as a pitcher. He is no longer holding back. He trusts his stuff and the plan of attack and it very clearly shows. I personally think there are even more velo levels here with another one or two off-seasons to work with his new body. BUT, you can't deny the consistency of pure results the past two seasons. That type of stacked output carries weight. Continue to lovethe change-up. Extremely deceptive pitch.

Just a friendly FYI @Jim Goulart. I spoke to this in a game thread a day or so ago. The plan is a back-to-back set of appearances. The 7-inning outing was indeed pre-planned. If everything is indeed going as planned and on schedule we 'should' see him back on the diamond tonight going the full 9-innings. His first full game. His first set of back-to-backs - given his injury pun intended?
