The AAA Sounds can capture this week’s home-and-away series 4-2 with a win today at Memphis behind RHP Logan Henderson, who’s making his 2nd start of the the week (4 IP, 5 R, 3 Ks in 72 pitches on Tuesday). C Jorge Alfaro (.212 AVG / .267 OBP / .408 SLG) had the game-winning homer yesterday and leads the team with 12 bombs.

The High-A Timber Rattlers host Beloit for a doubleheader today, needing a sweep to even this week’s series 3-3. 19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez makes his 2nd start since returning from injury (2 IP, 1 R, 3 Ks in 36 pitches on Tuesday). DH Blake Burke has 5 multi-hit games in his last 7 contests.

Andrew Vaughn pinch hit for in the top of the 1st for Nashville.  Heading to Milwaukee for Hoskins?

Seems possible or just a precaution? If he couldn’t play why put him in the lineup. Last minute pinch hit indicates something just came up while warming up to hit, or news came to Nashville to hold him out.

Both games early. Memphis jumps on Henderson for 2 singles in the bottom of the first but he works around it with 3 fly outs to surrender only 1 run. Hopefully he can limit the hits today. Jacksonville was his kryptonite so far this year don’t want to see any Cardinals affiliated have success against one of our top pitching prospects.

While I was typing that Alfaro goes deep. 1-1 game.

M. Rodriguez through 2 IP facing the minimum after a single and DP.

I am staying away from the big league game - nerves can’t handle it. Hoping for the best from the guy who pitched for both of these affiliates this season and made his way back home after nearly 2 years off. Hope Woody does well and feels good after the game.

im Back to MiLB game day watching only today.

Nashville offense going crazy in the 3rd. Topped off by Zamora’s 3-run HR. Now 8-1. Hope the long layoff this inning doesn’t affect Henderson who was in a groove after the first two hitters singled.

Very efficient 3 IP by Rodriguez. 3 hits allowed but 2 runners out in DP. No walks. 35 pitches only. He’s subbed out after those three innings of work as he eases back in after an injury layoff. But very promising outings. Anthony Flores is in as they still hold on to a 1-0 lead.

Flores gets through the 4th. But not nearly as efficient. 3 walks and 3 Ks. 35 pitches in one inning. Still a 1-0 lead. But Rodriguez knows or trust to pitch to contact. That will limit the high pitch counts. Now without more true swing and miss stuff he may not have as much success at higher levels but so young and poised he probably needs to only add or refine his stuff a little more to be an effective back of rotation starter some day.

Would be nice if the TRats offense can get some hits with runners on. A double by Nicasia drive in the only run so far and after Fridays game where they missed bases loaded situations in several innings, would be good to make up for it today.

If you haven’t checked in yet, Woody was great today

Thanks for that. I will watch the game later. But phew huge relief.

I had mental flashbacks to when Jimmy Nelson came back - it was against the Marlins as well and wasn’t a great debut. I am pumped if Woody is back and can contribute.

Nashville offense doing its job. Henderson doing his. 2 runs allowed in 5 innings at 75 pitches, which is probably his limit given it is his second start of the week. 12-2 Sounds. Henderson allows 6 hits, but no walks and gets 5 K.  Solid outing. So we have Henderson,  now Woodruff and maybe soon Cortes.  Nice to have a full complement of starters with some arms to spare…. Now I hope they stay healthy please 🙏🏻

Anthony Flores a little more effective in the next two innings in terms of pitches, now at 65 for three no hit innings of relief. 5K and 5 walks.

But the TRats still have not had any more hits with runners in scoring position yet.  1-0 lead. But runners on. Would be so nice to get a hit and some runs here. That would be really really nice

Grrr. Bases loaded and one out. And Torres and Guilarte fly out. Still 1-0. Frustrating team recently with this anemic offense.  I mean bases loaded and I feel defeated, assuming the TRats won’t score. These Wisconsin clubs - of the offense clicks they are fun to watch, if not it’s nail biting to assume the pitching can hold up.

1 run and 2 hits were enough for Wisconsin to win the first game of today’s doubleheader, despite Anthony Flores issuing 5 walks in 3 middle innings and Jesus Broca having an error and 2 wild pitches in the top of the final inning. Now let’s win another!

You could legit argue (quite easily, I might add) it was the best performance by a Brewers starter all year. Absolutely electric. From the jump. Closing out by touching 96 mph. It was surreal.

Man, I am absolutely hurting for EMJ. Had the thumb injury. Brewers picked up two MILB vets in Dalbec and Vaughn. He hasn't been the same since the combination of these events. 0-for-4, 3K batting ninth. He desperately needs a mental reset and regroup to get back to the type of player we all know he is.

Hmmm….maybe it wasn’t a standard off day Saturday for Cooper Pratt?

RHP KC Hunt only threw 24 pitches before Tuesday’s rain delay set in, so gets a chance to lead Biloxi to a series-clinching win over Pensacola. Adam Hall last played infield in July 2024.

Yeah, having Nestor; Henderson; Tobes and Patrick just sitting in the wings is such a wonderful complement of starters the Crew have at their disposal.

We don't see these often. Here's a look at Zamora's long ball:

That's consecutive games the Sounds bullpen has given up late seven-spots. Yikes. Yesterday, it was Jay and Payamps. Today it's a two-out run fest at the hands of Maciejewski and Liranzo (who has really fallen off the map in the past month after a really solid start to his season). 12-9 in the 9th frame. Sounds lead. I've said it before in this early first half but it bears repeating: the Sounds greater bullpen depth is pretty shaky at present. This after they led the International League (or were top two) for the vast majority of the first half.

After a 1-0 win in the first game of today’s home doubleheader against Beloit, High-A Wisconsin welcomes RHP Tanner Gillis (2.53 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 in 46.1 IP) back for his first action since May 30 as they seek to even this week’s series 3-3. Hedbert Perez, Luiyin Alastre and Blayberg Diaz enter the lineup for Nicasia, Guilarte and Torres.
