I'd scold Ortiz for not getting a run in there but I'm too exhausted with being disappointed in Ortiz at this point.

He’s going to cost us a playoff game. He can’t hit.

Or, he's going to save us a playoff game by denying a hit or working  his double play magic with Turang.

There are a lot of SS’s who can turn a double play.

You have to be able to hit at least a little to belong in the lineup of a 1 seed playoff team.

His work with Turang is exceptional.

He's hitting .267 over the last 30 games for what it's worth.  Problem now is that his OBP is still poor because his BB rate over that same period is like 3%, and there's basically no power.  The bad run with the bases loaded makes him seem worse than he actually has been over the last month.  It's not good, but it's better than it was in the first half of the season.

I mean, I get the concern, but they're pretty close to getting the #1 seed in the playoffs and he's been the starting SS all season while they put that together.

He’s so due … maybe a World Series 7th game grand slam to win it all balances the scales for Ortiz 😉

I get the frustration with him, but the Brewers are probably 30 games over .500 with him in the lineup.  At this point ride with the guys that got you here.

This of course is deceiving. Getting a hit in a 10-0 game vs a hit in a bases loaded spot of a tight game is huge. Ortiz seems to be a guy who if it's a big spot he has no chance. Playoffs are full of big spots

It is one of the most incredible things about it.

Yep. They are all big spots in the playoffs. Every pitch counts. But on balance I prefer the excellent defense. He's not just any shortstop out there.

Oh, I don’t think they can do anything else at this point. They made their bed At SS with Joey. I’m just not sure he should be the 2026 plan.
