He will be there, he can lead from the bench. Experienced players may help their younger teammates stay focused by sharing coping strategies and modeling composure in high-stakes situations.

I would be surprised if he's on the postseason roster given how little he's been used lately.

My opinion. Now i know that those are discouraged but we shall see. I don't rummage around in the stats attic like some I just watch the game for 40 years. Murphy seems like a swell guy and eating pancakes from his pocket is fun but it is debatable if he is a good in game manager.

One of the tragedies of the last years wild card game was that the masterful job Murphy did in managing the bullpen against the mets was totally forgotten due to the Williams blow up.  The top 3 hitters in the Mets lineup faced Tobias twice, Megil and then fatefully Williams.  A lot of other managers just would have gone the traditional route with the setup/closer and had Megil pitch the 8th inning.  Instead Murphy brought him in the 6th to face the top of the Mets order and had Peralta pitch the 8th against the bottom of the Mets order.  I was holding my breath when Murphy brought Freddie in, but it worked.  It really was a great job managing a playoff game, even with Williams blowing it.

I think he's done the same thing ever since Megil has gone on the DL.  Based just on stuff Uribe should be the closer but Murphy seems to be slotting him in against the other teams best hitters in the late innings.  Doesn't matter if that is the 8th or 9th.  So he's forgone the prototypical setup/closer roles with Koening and Uribe.

No manager is perfect.  I'm comfortable with Murphy.

Agree with this on Murphy’s management of Game 3. Honestly the only gripe I had was that he probably left Devin in too long. Letting Devin give up another run after the 3-run HR  really sucked any hope you had left for that game.

I hope that even if Megill is back that Murphy opts for going more by matchups rather than have a dedicated 9th inning guy. I don’t think any team in baseball has a combo of 2 LH (Ashby and Koenig) and 2 RH (Uribe and Megill) like the Brewers. Use that to our advantage and play matchups as best you can.

I would prefer the team get at least 1 more win to set a new mark for best record. Would have loved to be able to get to 100 regular season wins too, but best record ever and #1 seed is a nice achievement to have in place headed into the playoffs.

I’m excited for the Brewers to recapture their underdog mentality in the playoffs. While the team has continued to perform at high levels, it is difficult to consider yourself an underdog when you have been the undisputed best team in baseball for several weeks.

I like Murphy way better than Counsell as a coach and to proove it all you have to do is look at the team payrolls. Cubs spent $100 million more than the Brewers this season on players.  If the Brewers had that extra 100 million I gaureentee you we would be a better team.

Counsell left for two reasons his personal pay and a big bump in spending for players.  Not because Chicago is a nicer place to live.
