He didn’t grab for it, but looked frustrated.

He looked scared to me … young & afraid … likely remembering his recent injury that felt similar.

You would think if it was more serious he would have some sort of limp walking

Maybe he was frustrated he was coming out

Why on earth are we walking people with an 8 run lead?

This is my biggest fear with this team.  Walking hitters when we have the lead.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Just a thought, would it have been feasible to just not bring Freddy out for tge 2nd inning and bring in Mis, Patrick, or Gasser to pitch the rest of game and we could have saved Freddy for game 3? Or is that not a strategy worth trying

at least today's its being done while up 8 runs....but I get it.

Wonder if after 5 or 6 IP if the game is still out of hand is when we see the Miz?  Or will it make sense to give some other relievers an inning of work to knock off the rust?

I don’t think Murphy is going to try and overthink this thing. Go with your horses to get this win even if you are up by eight runs.  I think Counsell over thought things a little bit by going with a starter on three days rest and look where that got him.

I think that's getting too cute in a short series - you give Freddy this game knowing you'll have him on regular rest for a game 4 start (if necessary).  No need to start reshuffling anyone on the staff 2 innings into game 1 of a best of 5 series if you don't need to.

Got another scoreless inning from Peralta.

With the big lead it could be a chance to get an extended start out of him, if he is a bit more efficient and limits the walks.

let him go 5 and get the playoff W on his record - pitch count is very manageable right now

Not worth trying IMO. You take a playoff win when you can get it. Let Freddy go 6, hopefully 7, save the pen.

Though, it's not a crazy idea, but you're not going to have him for game 5 if you do this. It's 2 games either way...

And no shot am I bringing in Mis up 8-1. If we bring in Mis, I expect it'd be a game we're down a couple runs and just tell him to go out there and try and throw it by guys. Fastball, slider, 2 pitches.
