I love how they took an all pro guard and made him a mediocre center.

He hasn't been an All-Pro guard for a few years.  He has been in decline... even at G.  I thought the move the C would actually improve his value.  But it didn't...

No way we trade him.  No one is taking him for a $20M+ salary next year.  Josh Sitton is a pretty apt comparison.

Losing Ben Sims is a nothing-burger.  Sure, we need a TE now, but might as well go grab a PS player that might have more upside.  Sims started out as below average and hasn't improved.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The other HUGE problem with the Packer offense right now is it can't run the ball in big chunks against 7 man or even 6 man fronts, allowing defenses to sit back in shell coverages and force the passing game into chain-moving routes instead of having more space to get open downfield.

Part of that is Jacobs playing through that calf/leg injury limiting his explosiveness, but the line has to run block better against fronts that should be very friendly to run against.

I think this Packers team would be playing its best football if it's trying to maximize possessions to score points, and then unleash their pass rush - rather than playing into a ball-control type team's hands intentionally limiting possessions/scoring opportunities and letting them stay in a super conservative game plan the entire day, forcing your defense to stuff a balanced run/short passing game attack that they aren't amazing at.

This times 1000.

This roster, both offensively and defensively, is built to win track meets, not old school clock control ground games.

Not punting all game is a pretty good indicator that you’re able to move the football. Not punting all game and scoring 13 points indicates a pretty flawed approach, even with a pair of turnovers.

Quit spending all game trying to control the clock, being predictable on 1st down,  and just run your damn offense. It’s what we did in Pittsburgh and it’s why they could not keep up.

You have the deepest WR corps you have in years. You have a franchise QB that you’re paying 55M a year. You have two bookend edge rushers.

Teams are not going to win track meets with you. Stop being your own worst enemy.

I think part of the issue is the defense allowing drives of 7, 8, 10 minutes. That gives the offense fewer opportunities to score and then when they get those opportunities they have to score TDs otherwise you end up in dogfights with the likes of Cleveland and Carolina.

Yep.  They only had seven offensive possessions against Carolina.  When two of those end in turnovers (three if you count on downs)... you're not going to score TDs on all of the others.

Teams aren't going to score on all of their possessions.  It just doesn't happen.

3 drives for almost half a game, unbelievable. Wow that is really poor defense even if they gave up only 16 points. Goes to show that you can spin stats almost any way you want to prove a point. Makes it even worse that they didn’t need to punt.

Turns out they didn’t need to. The MLF/Love combo is overrated.

I made up the 7,8,10 numbers.

Actually, not too far off.

Panthers 3 scoring drives plus their longest drive ending in McKinney’s end zone interception.

8:39 Panthers 2nd drive, 2nd Quarter

5:31 Panthers 3rd drive. 2nd Quarter

4:15 Panthers 5th drive. 3rd Quarter

2:32 Panthers 7th drive. 4th Quarter

Total =  21 minutes 17 seconds.42 plays.

Panthers TOP = 29 minutes 10 seconds. 55 plays

I thought then and still think now, that Jenkins was the odd man out after the move to center.  We'll see if Jenkins is on the 2026 team?  Personally, I think the odds are overwhelming that Jenkins is traded after this season.  With him off the roster, it frees up 20 million in cap space, which would have given them the flexibility to keep Clark.

I think Jenkins is likely gone as well.

Or back on a very different contact.

Yeah... that's actually really far off from Homer's 3 hyperbolic 7,8 and 10 minute drives.
