This is great news! He is still making way less than his predecessor despite out coaching him for 2 seasons. But if he is happy, I’m happy.

Happy for Murph, it's always a bit of an unknown with people you don't really know, but he seems like a genuinely good person and what he has done over the past couple seasons speaks for itself.  It seems like so long ago that everyone was talking about how he was just there to keep the seat warm for a season or two until Rickie Weeks took over.

Brewers are so use to putting an option on contracts, they even started doing it for the coaches.😎

Definitely, I think the coach-in-waiting shine has worn off for Rickie.

If the option year is picked up that would take him through age 70 in 2029. I remember folks being concerned with his age when he was hired but if he retired after 2029 that would be 6 solid seasons and there's nothing that says he couldn't continue for a few more seasons if he (and the team) wanted to.

I was just going to ask if we are ready to say we like having Murphy as our in-game manager now 🙂
