Yes, Pirates gave up 2 runs in the 8th to lose it.

It's not the worst thing to have the Cubs take a bit longer to be eliminated. Having only the Dodgers to think about for weeks on end is the kind of thing that can get in your head.

The bye is more or less locked. The nice thing about the cushion and not needing to win the last few games, is they can use them to maybe get an idea of who can actually throw in the playoffs.
