I agree with that.  The guy has won 3 national titles and UWW has become a powerhouse.

That said, not a guy I’d want to have a beer with.  20 years ago at UWW, the guy had a reputation and not a good one.  But I’d imagine that is true for most athletes and coaches… very talented but not pleasant people.

Didn't know that. Unfortunate.

He’s got to be running out of options though, isn’t he? I get that lefty pitchers take time to develop, but he’s closing in on 30

Are you talking about Gasser? You think he is almost 30yrs old?

I have heard that from several people.

Not a pleasant person to be around.

No he was already optioned this year in spring so he can move up and down all season without losing another.

He was up in 2024 before being an optioned wasn’t he?  Or did that not count as an option because of his injury?

Isn’t he 27 going on 28?

He's 26 going on 27.

And he looked really good before he got hurt.  He had a setback in spring training and is still ramping back up.  I'm guessing that it was a planned short-ish start to begin with today.

Sounds good.  Sorry for the hyperbole.  Hope he can put it together

It might have been.  Obviously they know what to expect velocity wise, which is 1 to 2 mph less than before his TJ.  His location was pretty poor all day.  If he was locating the ball better he might have gotten through another inning.

No and "pushing 30" (stealing 3 years) from a player coming off of TJ to fit a narrative of unworthiness is awesome. That's politician type stuff, well done.

2 ducks on the pond… bit opportunity here boys.  Good to see Hamilton pulled, but sobering that our best options is Rengifo.

i know in the trade/waiver thread we talked about not a lot of help available on the left side around the league… but yikes.

i know Durbin is off to a rough start with Boston, but I’m secretly hoping he gets released and the Brewers can snag him back

Yes, AAA pitching. It's so important to bring these guys up at the right time. If they come up and fail, it can ruin a career.

Decent chance he will get cut loose.

Where did I call him worthless?  Relax.

just saying, we are three years in from acquiring him as the headliner for an elite player and he hasn’t played meaningful baseball for us.

at 26 and still rehabbing, maybe he’s got time yet to still be a solid piece.  When we acquired him I think the hope was that he could be a top line starter.  I hope that happens, but seems less and less likely.

It is beyond frustrating to see guys like Rengifo, Hamilton, and Perkins continue to see MLB at-bats when we have 2-3 really good young MLB ready options available in Nashville.

Ortiz belongs on the above list too but I’ll give him a pass today.
