Uribe showed steel nerves tonight. Essentially got 5 outs. He had the determined countenance we saw on his face often last year…..maybe this whole thing will help him focus in this year.

I love Bauers - one thing I will say is after being a good glovesman at first base for years, he has been pitiful this year. He legit has a lot of errors. Obviously a terrible throw by Ortiz, but Bauers didn’t even come within inches of it. Strange.

Megill’s fastball maybe has ticked up a tiny bit, but for whatever reason it seems so much harder to pick up than it did the first weeks of the season. Love seeing him and Uribe locked in! Great win even when you play kinda bad. Good game for Chourio. Also would much rather see Murph pinch hit for Frelick than Mitchell right now.

Rengifo is buying beers tonight. Teammates really picked him up on that error.

He might as well do it while he still can. June is coming up.

The pitching lab, Henderson, Hook......all golden. So much concern about some of the teams on the sked the last few weeks, and rightfully so. But other than two or three bad innings vs LA, flying colors for this staff. Megill seems to be back, and perhaps Uribe swallowed a grow-up pill this evening. And if he ever gets a touch better with the command Hall is a real weapon.

Felt a little bad for Crow in the 3-run inning. A few hard-hit balls, but it was fueled by Alvarez MAYBE getting a star-treatment zone leading off---the 2-1 & 3-1 were both extremely close---then the bad throw. Without much imagination that could've been a 1 or at most a 2 run inning.

Six hits allowed in ten innings vs the home team in that ballpark, I suspect that hasn't happened much.

Really thought Hamilton would go out before Rengifo since Hamilton has an option left but now that Hamilton is a power hitter and Rengifo is trying to give away games with bad throws I don't even know what to think. lol

Hat tip to Yelich and the scouting report on Meyers arm in CF.  If he doesn't tag and take 3rd they're probably still playing.

Chourio tagged up earlier too on him on one I was like hmm on. They had him scouted out!

Bauers is actually very good at the one-hop & short-hop throws; iIve seen him make scoops much tougher than the one he missed tonite. It WAS strange. I almost wonder if he lost the ball in the background or something.

Vaughn PH for Mitchell because basically that was the situation in front of them. Two outs, lead run in scoring position, guy is hitting around .500 vs LHP. That was the chance to use that bullet. All things being equal, I like Mitchell vs a lefty over Frelick too, but if Vaughn doesn't hit there & Houston scores a couple in the bottom half you probably see Vaughn hit for Frelick, but you might not have ANY runners on.

A sac fly is a good bet.

Not to mention a ground ball vs a drawn-in INF, a topped grounder, a pop fly that now isn't caught due to the INF being in, and the seven ways (or whatever) where you can score from 3B without a base hit. Also perhaps the hitter getting more fastballs because the battery is gunshy about breaking stuff with a runner on 3rd.

Managers do this crap for a reason.

Yeah. If/when a roster move is made on the LS of the INF I was figuring Hamilton. Lately it looks like Rengifo. I think Ortiz is the most likely to stay. Put 'em in a dice cup, shake 'em out-----four days from now the pecking order could be completely different.

Boy, Yelich can run the bases.

I have to think Rock was somewhere watching that sequence on a loop.

Well, I missed the end of the game.

Just as the Astros were batting in the ninth inning, I heard a big crash outside and there was an SUV upside down right in front of our driveway. This is on a residential street. Apparently the driver smashed into the side of our next-door, neighbors car that was parked in front of their house and flipped over.

There were about 10 firetrucks, police cars, and ambulances that showed up, several of them just trying to get the driver out of the car. Apparently she was “OK“.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Ortiz plays the best D, followed by Hamilton. And Hamilton is the fastest and therefore asset as a pinch runner.  Rengifo is clearly the 1st on the chopping block, IMO.

He'll need to show some semblance of what he provided for the Angels, which he obviously hasn't come close to doing. He might have a couple weeks to change that. If they had to make a move tomorrow, I agree he's at the top (bottom) of the list.

I'm sure they have more confidence in moving Hamilton & Ortiz around the diamond, too.

A)  Hamilton provides backup at SS so you can PH for either him or Joey depending on who starts.  Otherwise I suppose you have to move Turang to SS and Rengifo or Williams to SS.  Or roll with Williams at SS.  I don't know enough about their defense to know what is better.

B)  Hamilton is also an elite pinch runner for Vaughn or Sanchez at least.  Rengifo is not.

Looked like Uribe had a wad of chew packed away y tonight…is this somewhat normal for him? Isn’t it illegal?  Feels like naughty kid at school getting back at the principal for putting him in detention….ala Breakfast club.
