Seriously, can someone explain to me why this organization doesn't seem to prioritize bats? Specifically power bats. It's all about pitching pitching pitching and defense. That's all well and good, but at some point you have to be smart enough(and I thought they would be after last years playoffs) to address a major weakness. Literally everyone else but the organization sees it as a weakness, and it's like the Brewers just have zero interest in doing anything about it. It's bizarre for what is supposedly a very smart organization.

Pratt has a 1.5 WAR in 117 ABs. Over the course of a full season, that is a star level player. He is hitting .291 with a .775 OPS and has an elite glove at the most important defensive position.

Yelich cannot field any position, so he hogs the DH spot and does it poorly, with a below average .695 OPS.

It has nothing to do with one getting a pass because he is a rookie. I assure you that Brandon Sproat isn’t getting many passes around here. Pratt has offered value this year, Yelich has been an anchor. 

A bad AB is a bad AB but this is a horrible comparison.

Any bat we would have gotten would have been devastated we didn't get Skubal too and would have fallen apart.

Their last 6 first round picks have been position players and the guy they took last year has the most power of any player in all of minor league baseball. Pretty sure they are trying.

They've spent one true first round pick on a pitcher since 2014.

Another close, low run loss chaps me …but at least Stallings has performed well in his brief time in Milwaukee. Hopefully, he gets an opportunity to stick around since Yoho is gone.

We just have not been very good at developing them. Wilken and Ray were massive busts, Payne is looking extremely promising but likely 2-3 years away still. Fischer and Burke both strike out far too much to help this year but have unlimited power, Brown was a bust but also not a power hitter per se and Frelick does everything well except hit for power and hit consistently for that matter. Good thing is our international development has vastly improved

Hell of a lineup they have isn't it? That's funny because everyone complains in this thread nightly about how they can't hit. Obviously my point went over your head, I meant why don't they ever trade for/sign any good bats. Sure they have a bunch in the minors( that's really helping this years team, isn't it)?

It’s true, but we are getting there I think with our international development (Chourio, for all his warts was a huge get. Pratt is also homegrown. We’re improving).

It also feels like the pitching lab has given the development of the bats an almost impossible standard to live up to.
