Sun. 8/23: Wilson 4 Games Out; T-Rats Chances Slim at 6.5 Back

Posted

I don’t know if it is the competition they have played recently, but Biloxi has really slumped, even the offense is not showing up, while the pitching continues it poor form.

On the flip side the ACL … I mean Wilson Warbirds with so many young (very young) players are really playing at a solid level. Trey Ebel who just graduated high school a couple of months ago and Antunez along with Encarnacion are hitting well.  Anderson book ends our organization with Wilken in AAA as low BA, hugh K but raw power prospects who still have a pro future with that plus power tool.

im wondering if its partially the length of the season. probably most games played for a lot of this youth

Agree. Good points.
But I also see how Nashville is winning this week but Norfolk is really bad. And Salem is not good. Rocket City is winning team so not sure if Biloxi playing high quality teams factors in too as I didn’t look up the the last three opponents, I mean still doesn’t explain what 1-15 now in 16 games with THAT talented a roster.

i may look it up later to see - out of curiosity.

Bitonti is super underrated, I like how Spencer and Jack brought up the Fischer vs. Bitonti comparision on the BF podcast.

Fischer has the eye popping HR numbers but Bitonti has just as much power. Bitonti has more speed (SB at least) and most people think he is a better defender (I dont watch enough minors to be in the know). Also Bitonti is 2 years younger.

Great night for some of our better pitching prospects.

I think there could be a spot in the bullpen for Sproat as the September call-up. He could piggy back with Drohan and/or Harrison giving 2-3 innings. I could see a playoff game go Harrison 1 time round the order, Sproat 1 time, and Drohan or Patrick 1 time depending on if teams PH or have a righty or lefty dominant order. If Sproats stuff plays up a mph or two and he can edit his stuff down for max results 1 time through he could be huge. However that would be a big risk.

yeah im watching sproat also. after falling apart his first outing, he has really turned it on in AAA. With a young guy like, sometimes its just getting your confidence headed in the right direction. maybe some time to work on a couple things also.

I've noticed that Bitonti seems to be getting more run at 3B lately. I didn't foresee him seeing Biloxi this year, but if they bump Made maybe Pena & Bitonti on the L side of the Shuckers' INF?

So, first combined Brewers org No-Hitter since a DSL combo no hit bid back in 2021. Soroat and Kuehner. How epic is this catch and sacrifice by One LF Tyler Black into the wall to preserve and ensure the 'No No'. Love this!

Two fun things to share. First of all, Tyson Hardin's sweeper was almost completely untouchable. 8 whiffs on 9 swings, and the 4S/Cutter are so tough to square up. A great outing in a shorter stint that's well deserved given his peripherals this season

Secondly, another Sproat start where the cutter has been abolished. The command graded out excellently here (Pitch profiler's ProPitching + is an amalgam of the stuff+ you see in the first column and location + which isn't shown. Given his prostuff+ is lower than the pitching + on his fastballs, by a long way, the model really rated how he commanded the fastball/sinker

On a less positive note, Jared Koenig is no longer looking remotely like Jared Koenig. Velocity is down across the board and his shapes won't cut it at 92 mph
