I don't understand this.  I get we're in a long stretch of games with no off day but making him throw 100ish high stress pitches when his velocity is already way down is so ******* stupid and Murphy is just sitting there like a giant oaf letting it happen.

Harrison’s updated FIP is around 4. He’s just a guy.

At this point, these aren’t high stress pitches. After using Anderson for multiple innings yesterday and putting Wilson on the IL, the remaining long reliever is Chad Patrick or DL Hall. Hall has looked quite good lately (maybe a dark horse SP candidate if May/Harrison/Gasser don’t look playoff ready?) so I’d rather use him in high leverage.

Hopefully Patrick can get us through multiple innings tonight so we don’t use much of our A bullpen. Barring a huge comeback, having Gary pitch the 9th is probably best case scenario.

I know it's because of how bad they are losing.  But BA is making me angry.  The gum on the pants, the fawning over Wrigley, the general upbeat talk in a blowout, he can gtfo.  At this point Id rather listen to Levering talk about the staff cribbage games on the road.

Playing the Cubs is never fun because we have to load all kinds of meaningless crap onto single games. It's why I hated playing them in the playoffs (and why I'd rather get the 2 seed than the 1 if it means avoiding them for another round). Certain times, it just means too much.

All of which is to say, this game doesn't matter. The Brewers played horribly. May as well throw Gary Sanchez for 4 innings and call it a day. If you can at least make the Cubs work a little bit, that'll be a moral victory.

The big thing to be concerned about, for me, is simple: If the Brewers can't hit homers on a night like tonight, they're really going to struggle to hit homers. This has always been the worry, so it's not exactly new information, but still. 

I hope somebody reminds the team in powder blue that they're the big, bad wolves of the Central, having dominated the division and beaten the Cubs in the playoffs last year.
