When "nah" doesn't change reality

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

We are gonna lose to the Bears by 40 and their DT is going to have a rushing TD. Johnson will do something like that.

Ben is going to bend MLF over. There won’t be mercy,

So I hear these Brewer guys are pretty OK...

Don’t want to see that, obviously. But there needs to be a reckoning with how truly horrible things have been allowed to get. Nothing else would illustrate that better.

Don't want to be negative but I do not think we will win the Super Bowl this year.

I’m sure Louis will still blame it on the refs or those dang injuries.

Screw Ed Policy.

Yeah, firing Gute and MLF would only be treating the symptom. The disease would merrily continue on.

Just saying nah doesn't make something untrue.

I went on the waitlist in 2014. I was about 110,000, and in that time they've added seats to the building. Those are the only years it had really moved, when they added seats. I am 91,000.

I will never get off that list, my 12 year old son projects to, when he's about 65. Prolonged losing might make it 55, but it's not going to do what you're suggesting.

For the last 30 years a ticket holder  can sell the tickets at a profit regardless if they go to the games or not. Why would anyone give that up?

Good teams = strong demand for tickets

Bad teams = lower demand for tickets

It is that simple.

Two people cannot get into Lambeau Field together for less than $300 and that will continue to go up most years (and that’s for the bad seats).

The businesses and tavern owners who have blocks of tickets aren’t going anywhere, but no doubt regular fans aren't going to continually poor their disposable income into a bad product when they can watch it on TV at home for virtually nothing.

I don't really have an opinion on Policy as I don't fully understand what his job even is, other than he extended the two goons. Can't say I blame LaFleur for taking money, he did make the playoffs a few times. Gutekunst seems to be the biggest issue at this point. They have a roster problem, that's his job.

Nah.  History shows that during down turns more people will drop their season tickets, but I was wrong... There are enough people on the list to refill the stadium twice over.  The waiting list is estimated to last 30-40 years.  Having a bad year doesn't deter good fans.  You are thinking of Chicago fans.

You said it. He extended the two goons responsible for this mess.

I have no expectations for his job whatsoever other than to not compound a problem by extending goons,

Again, the time on the waitlist will expedite mildly, not to any level that you're suggesting here. This isn't the Bucks, it's the Packers, it's a religion. Chunks of those STH haven't budged since the 1960s and it is their sole entertainment budget for the year, it's their church, their social gathering, it's the only thing in the town. There are situations that transcend supply and demand and football in Green Bay is one of those things.

You claimed the list wouldn't exist in 7 years. That's just beyond ridiculous and there's no way you believe that.

The majority of people that waited 30 years to get on the list aren't going to give that up because face value is $150 and the team might lose for a handful of years. They want their kids and grandkids to have the tickets.

There are plenty, plenty of people willing to pay $300/game for 8 or 9 games. It really isn't that much.  It's pretty well accepted when you have ST there will be bad seasons in the mix...masses of people aren't giving that privilege up over $3000 a year because the team lost.

No it'll totally be wiped out by 2032. No wait list, we won the May trade 1000% and Jordan Morgan was not a bad pick.

Real quotes from Matt’s postgame presser:

“We gotta get back to work”

”we gotta ignore the noise”

”roll up your sleeves and get to work”

”I gotta go back and watch the tape”

”give credit to Atlanta and some of the other defenses we’ve played”

“It’s all of us”

You’re right by saying “bad year”. What I’m saying is 5-7 years of being a doormat, and it’s likely your number is probably close to coming up (if you’ve got the upfront user fee they charge plus the money for all the tickets).

It’s a bad mix of being very expensive to go to a game, the tickets are sold on an all or nothing basis plus meaningless pre-season.  It’s the nature of pro sports: an amazing tribal experience to let the good times roll, but the lean years people find other things to do with their time and money.

I guess the game moves to fast for Matt to make any immediate comments on the game since he said 3 times, "got to go back and watch the tape."

5-7 years is not getting #91,000 a purchase opportunity. This is so comically inaccurate. They could miss the playoffs each of those 7 years and MAYBE #12,000 is getting a crack. I don't think you understand how little it moves. They send a card every year and it usually moves less than 1,000 people. If price was the determining factor like you're suggesting, that kind of movement would already be happening. It's not. Goes back to what I said earlier: people have a bad habit of underestimating how many people can afford so-called expensive things.

There is a vast surplus of people more than ready to drop a few grand on Packers tickets every year.

Yes, ready to drop a few grand on a team that’s perpetually good.

The reality is 20% of the league doesn’t sell out as it is. The Titans, Jaguars, Jets, Falcons Cardinals and Panthers are all known for futility the better part of the last decade and they all have soft demand for tickets with even some of their openers not being a sell out this year. You don’t really believe the Packers would be immune to that reality if their fortunes went down the same path.  Heck, the Steelers might be the most analogous team to the Packers in terms of consistency and they had a less than capacity crowd for week one.

Giving up season tickets doesnt happen based on what the Packers put on the field.  Not now, not ever.  That list rotates based on generational culture changes.

Season ticket holders actually using their tickets is a totally different story - look for road team fanbases and non season ticketholders to get much cheaper access to lambeau than they've had for a long time.

The reality is the whole rest of the league is not Green Bay when it comes to fanbase interest/season ticket sales.  Your conflating gameday attendance with whether or not the season tickets are sold for the games, which is the whole point of the season ticket list - which in no way shape or form will dramatically diminish with a crummy record and no clear path to return to contention.

Also - you know the Pack is off to a tough start when the board's biggest debate after the home opener is what the over/under for season tickets given up will be early next year.

Yeah, this IGT was pretty easy to read skipping all of those posts.

Actually, it most likely will be going to the Jets, so at least we got that going for us.

I do not. What were the ticket prices then? (In 1994 the average ticket price was $26).

It’s $150 just to get in the door now, and only going to get more expensive.

it will be very jarring to the see the "cathedral"  half full. built all them extra seats for no reason
