2026 World Series Thread: News/Notes/Predictions/Miscellaneous. What's on your mind?

I began the month with predicting a title after a 4-2 World Series record (though I predicted Judge would come back and carry New York to a pennant) so I’ll stick with that: Brewers in 6.

Like many of you, I’m also surprised by my lack of nerves. There’s definitely a feeling of excitement, and I have seen more than enough playoffs from the Brewers (and Packers) to know how very real the prospect of defeat remains.

But this team looks and sounds like a group that is at the meeting point of confidence, preparation, and experience. This organization has proven itself elite at every level, taken its licks and gone to school on its mistakes, and it’s all coming together at the perfect time.

The Brewers were the best team in baseball nearly all year, are clearly superior to the Rays, and have already proven their mettle against the hottest team as well as what may go down as the greatest assemblage of talent in the history of the sport. For all that, our Brewers are 7-1.

Friends: if they lose, it will be because of the strangeness of baseball, but I’ve never been more convinced of our team’s greatness than I am right now. If they fail, it will hurt, though I can accept it.

But I think we win.

Basically exactly what I would have written, except I'll get crazy and say 5.

Before the game, Murphy and Cash can get together and reminisce and have a good laugh about when C. B. Bucknor ruled that Bauers missed first base.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

I THINK the Brewers playing the Yankees would have been... just the absolute ultimate World Series. Knocking off the LAD and then the NYY?

But... I'll take the Brewers in FIVE here!

If the Brewers don't win the division I should be banned. However, they will.

During the Expansion/LCS Era (since 1969) there have been 172 instances of a reliever logging at least 10 IP in a single postseason. 26 of those 172 have posted a 0.00 ERA.

After last night Ashby (14.0 IP) passed 1999 John Rocker (13.0 IP), 1998 Mariano Rivera (13.1 IP), 2020 Julio Urias (13.1 IP), and 2016 Cody Allen (13.2 IP) to move into second place behind 1981 Goose Gossage (14.1 IP) for the most scoreless relief innings in one postseason.

His +1.22 Win Probability Added to this point is tied with 2004 Brad Lidge for 10th on that same leaderboard just behind 1981 Gossage (+1.23 WPA) in 9th and just three tenths of a win behind 1996 John Wetteland (+1.52 WPA) in the top spot. Mariano Rivera (1996, 1999, 2000, 2003) holds four places between #2 and #7 with 2022 Ryan Pressly (+1.38 WPA), 2010 Brian Wilson (+1.27 WPA), and 2007 Jonathan Papelbon (+1.24 WPA) putting up some of the other Top Ten reliever postseason runs from a WPA standpoint.

Random question and I figured this might be the place to ask it. Win or lose, I want to get a shirt to commemorate. But I don’t want to get a MLB official shirt. I haven’t lived in Wisconsin since 2008, so who are some of the local shirt producers that I can check out their designs to support their business?
