Looks like they might pinch hit for Vargas

If would have told me this was good news before the game started I would have laughed.

so both of zona's runs could have been avoided if we could just accurately throw the ball.............nice to know

Well that sucked.

In his last 4 starts - Vargas has pitched 26.3 innings, given up 20 hits and just 5 runs with his 3 previous starts within those 26 innings being against the 3 first place nl clubs - the Braves, Padres, and Cards.

He has pitched very well as of late.

Lyle isn't that bad. We have a first baseman that's worse defensively on the bench (Helms).

He's nowhere near GG caliber, but he's not that bad.

I am sorry, but Lyle Overbay is the worst defensive first baseman I have ever seen. He is just aweful with the glove.

Nothing like rushing to judgment, huh? I think this guy may disagree...

Helms can only get useless pinch hits when we are winning or losing by a bunch

I'd like to see some numbers to prove that, please.

Well I am not sure what numbers you want to prove that but I guess maybe people can come up with big hits he gets. I watch every game, and if I miss some I go on mlb.com and watch the rest, like I will today. Helms gets 2 out pinch hits in the 8th inning of a 5-1 loss or games like the 11-7 Cincy win where the game was not that close. Great he is hitting .280 and is a HUGE liability in the field. That is all I got to back it up seeing I have no idea what numbers will prove that he does not provide any worth while hits. My stats are what I see. Numbers can fool you.

AGAIN, we're going to miss a chance to reach .500. This is just atrocious.

Let's worry about that when the game's over Clancy.
