Pre-game prediction of Kinney's line tonight........

6 IP, 9 hits, 4 K's, 3 Walks, 2 homers, 6 Earned runs.

He's pitching 6 I'd wager unless he's absolutely getting ripped a new one.

Gotta say I agree there RoCo.

I figure 6-7 innings or 115 pitches, whichever comes first. Although if we're hitting, and it's like 7-7 early on, I could see us letting our most rested pitcher (Brooks) try to go out there for a 60 pitch outing. With his movement and his bat, I still think he'd be a solid option as an emergency starter at times.

Also, I guess I might have expected the Brewers to call up Ford over Saenz, because he's been in the bigs before. At the same time, Saenz sure has been dominant. Either would have made sense over Hendrickson, because we want him to have a good 2-3 healthy months of dominating AAA before we bring him up. When he comes up, it's to stay up here. calling someone up from AA usually tells everyone it's temporary

I've got a good feeling about Kinney tonight:

1/3 inning pitched

0 h

0 er

0 r

1 k

0 bb

On fourth pitch, tho, he strains his groin and is put on the 60 day DL.

Clancy, Kinney could pitch a 2-hit shutout tonight, and then Obermuller could go out and light his usual bonfire, and Wayne Franklin could be implicated in a string of gruesome child murders, and you'd still insist that we execute Kinney, sign Franklin to a six-year contract, and give Obermuller some time at catcher on his off-days to get his powerful bat in the lineup.

Let me save you the trouble of writing your next post:

The problems with Milwaukee's starting pitching fall at the feet of one man: Matt Kinney. Kinney cannot throw a baseball five feet, and even if he could, the energy he has recently expended masterminding the Iraq insurgency, skyrocketing fuel prices, and William Hung's record deal have ensured that he is in no position to help his team. Kinney, who gargles kittens at the left hand of Satan, also bears primary responsibility for global warming, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and the Veggie Tales. Concededly African famine is the work of Ben Grieve, but we all know who gives Grieve his orders. Either you're with America, or you're with Matt Kinney.

Or, alternatively:

Matt Kinney gives up big innings!! Matt Kinney gives up big innings!! Matt Kinney gives up big innings!! [pause to empty drool cup]. Wes Obermuller just got tired yesterday!! Only the first five innings count!! That big inning must have been Yost's fault!! Or the offense's fault!! Or Matt Kinney's fault!! Because Matt Kinney gives up big innings!! Wes Obermuller is a winner!! Just like Wayne Franklin!!

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Like a #$*&@#& Teletubby. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat . . .

Greg.

Thanks for the chuckle greg. If you think anything that anyone here says will influence what clancyphile writes and writes and writes and writes and writes repeatedly, to death, and beyond then you might be suffering from 4/20 hangover.

Jeez, David... it's April 23rd. You must have had a pretty fun 04/20 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif .

I think Kinney's going to have to go at least 5 innings tonight... I hope he does well so that Saenz gets a start Saturday. That would be sweet. More likely, he'll go about 3 innings and the bullpen will get abused again.

Just call it a gut feeling

Not to be rude, but 420 was 3 days ago,

Edit: Gotta love dial up service!!

Greg, funny stuff man!

I'm actually hoping that Kinney continues to get absolutely lit up until Capuano is healthy, and he's then finally removed from the rotation, or better yet, just cut.

Why? you ask? So we can stop reading in every freaking thread how terrible Kinney is, and how Doug Davis and Wes Obermueller are simply victims of repeated bad luck.

Kinney: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 4 ER, 2 HR (ND)

Brewers win 7-4 after roughing up StL's middle-relief, which my be equal to or worse than the Crew's.

And then I awoke from my slumber...

But I think they manage to win this game somehow.

It's almost worth it.

I honestly don't get Yost's lineups. I'm all for playing Keith Ginter, but lately he seems to be playing primarily for Helms. Given the way Helms hits at home, why not play Ginter for Counsell (or at least configure the defense so Counsell is the one hitting) and let Helms hit at MP?

Nice to see Scotty go the other way. He needs to stop trying to pull the ball and get more hits like his one in the first if he is to get "back on track" (.289 isn't bad, but I have higher expectations for Scott's sophomore year).

These guys are swinging early in the count tonight. When was the last time we saw Pods swinging at the first pitch?

Perhaps the Cards figured out last time that the Brewers are taking more pitches and so they are being told to throw strikes early. Maybe the Brewers are trying to compensate for that.

I HATE Bob Brainerd. What a waste of time. Last week for the Buckethead game, he interviewed some liquored-up guy. Now, he interviews some Taekwondo guy and says 'watch this' as the guy is supposed to demonstrate some moves, but instead the video goes to live game action and all we hear is some Taekwondo moves "Huyah huah!"

This guy needs to go.
