I say Brussels

I have visited Sydney and its a nice place. Great weather/beaches/etc... However, there really isnt that much to do as far as visiting other places. Brussles will offer the opportunity to do random things in ramdom countries on a whim.

 

If you are interested in Australia I would reccomend Tales from a Sun Burned Country by Bill Bryson.

For study abroad purposes, I say Belgium. I know several UW people that have gone to Australia for a semester and while they say with unanimity that it was a great time, there was not much studying involved. Depends on what you're after, I suppose.

Yeah, that. That would be my number one reason. You'd get to see a whole ton of other countries fairly easily.

You're really just going to tread water, academically and professionally.

 

Isn't that understood in studying abroad, though? You do it before your true profession(s) stand in your way.

 

 

My general sense is that you're going to have a generally disconnected college experience if you spread it out over four campuses. You might not have as many lasting interpersonal relationships -- friends, faculty mentors, bosses, etc. Those things do matter, especially when, say, you're applying to grad school and need a recommendation letter.

I don't mean to pick on you, RU Rah Rah, as you obviously are much more well-informed on this topic than I am. However, I just think this bit is nit-picking. His true friends aren't going to not care when he comes back (I actually have experience here... many friends studied abroad & we stayed in touch), and as long as you're a diligent student who makes intelligent contributions in-class, you shouldn't have much problem finding a prof. for a letter of recommendation. A third question, re: saving money:

 

I've got some money that'll be sitting in the bank between now and next January when I leave. Do you think it would be better to just put it in something like a CD, or possibly just buying my Euro's right now? I can't tell if I'm joking or not.

 

(And btw, Copenhagen ended up being the better location than Brussels, academically and program cost-wise.)
