  1. Harmony - It is a cereal for women that I am absolutely in love with. I don't drink (eat?) milk so it is just dry but it is amazing. Kashi - pretty much all of the Kashi cereals are stellar. When I was kid I love and would eat Rice Krispies with the little multicolored marshmellows in it.
  2. I cry during movies absurdly frequently but Waking the Dead is one of my favorite movies that always has me balling. Loving Lisa is also a favorite that always has my eyes watering.
  3. Russell Martin has to be in the top 20. It's pretty amazing that he isn't.
  4. I totally forgot about the new Nationals Stadium, they play Atlanta the weekend I am there I might have to go and check out the new stadium. The zoo is a stellar idea also. Friday Nationals game saturday Zoo or Botanical gardens saturday.
  5. This is a surprise, I thought they would have been able to get a return similar to what the Brewers recieved for Jose Cappellan. Surprise but not the end of the world. I just hope that the Brewers try and sign John Patterson to a minor league deal, maybe even offer him a deal with an out in it if he isn't on the big league club by June15th. Patterson would be a much better insurance policy than Naverson and Jackson
  6. For school I am going to be going to DC at the beginning of April, during the Cherry Blossom Festivle. Most of the trip is planned out we are doing most of the generic touristy stuff, monuments, tour the White House And some others Holocaust Museum (I know im going to be crying most of the way through it). The Bureau of Printing and Engraving, that is actually the reason for the trip, the Printing Club is paying for almost all the trip. Were going to a play at the Kennedy Center. Most of Saturady is open, what is something I should definetly see, and would be open into the afternoon on Saturday. I kind of want to go to the Botanical Gardens out there, don't know where about it is, just heard someone else rave about it. Also, what's the deal with Ethiopian food, a ton of people have raved about it but I know, nothing about it. What would it compare to? Spicy, not? Vegetarian friendly?
  7. The Brewers go undefeated in games that Bill Hall can use a pink bat. Prince Fielder gets suspended for running into the stands and yelling at a fan for not recycling the plastic bottle. Ned Yost drinks a grand total of 40,389 cups of coffee during the season. Seriously though, 1. Matt Gamel will start 30 games this year for Milwaukee, mostly at 3rd but a handfull at 1st giving Prince a day off. 2. Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan start a combined 85 games. 3. Mike Cameron hits .285 20hr 20 steals in 135 games What should be a lock is me going to my first Brewer game in 14 years. The last time I went was my 10th Birthday, this year I don't care what happens I am going to go to at least one game.
  8. Yeah I like the blog too. It is nice to see sports from a different perspective, one fans typically don't get to see. I especially liked the story about you running into your ex-client. It was interesting to see how invested you are in your clients, and how personal you take things.
  9. They, at one time, were in fact looking into trading Lincecum. (I haven't heard any Cain rumors) The Giants weren't stupid though they were asking for young proven superstar outfielders, Alex Rios and Carl Crawford were the two names I heard of. If the Brewers wanted to try and pry away Lincecum it would take Ryan Braun. So basically no thanks.
  10. Dave Bush (or Capuano)and Matt Gamel for Taylor Teagarden and low level nugget. Isn't Blaylock nearing free agency, if he isn't there is still the ever present rumors the Rangers are going to trade him. What happens if Kendall flops, I am talking totally flops this year Mendoza line batting average (that even extra walks can't cure) and an absolute inability to throw anyone out? If Kendall flops is there any chance that the Brewers would try to trade for either Gerald Laird or Saltamachia (sp?)?
  11. What do you guys know about Kyle Long? Whereabouts is he expected to go in the draft? Is Howie's other kid really going to give up football for baseball? I was trying to do a bit of research and ran across his name. Sox prospects website had him as there 11 best prospect in the upcoming draft, where he isn't in Colby's top 30 at all (#54). Would Kyle Long last until the supplemental round between the 1st and 2nd, and if so would that make some sense for the Brewers? Matt Laporta looks like he is going to fly through the Minors and end up as a permanent Lfer by the end of next year. If Laporta does infact get rushed through the minors then is very unlikely that he would end up "replacing" Prince. Kyle Long would most likely need 3-4 years in the minors before being major league ready. Right now I am kind of hoping that the Brewers end up with Jacob Thompson in the first round and draft Kyle Long and Michael Palazzone in the supplemental round. Quite honestly I have no clue if those players are likely to fall that far, I am just going off of Colby top prospect list and scouting reports I can google. I just like the idea of going with a fast rising college arm in the first round and supplemental taking the highest ceiling bat and highest ceiling arm.
  12. I love the episode "Mothers Day". The Socialist Mothers Day card is my favorite futurama character of all time.
  13. I know that you specifically asked for the opinion of "management," but I, as always am compelled to throw in my two cents. As most people have already stated going to management is an iffy thing. Obtain all relevent information before scheduling a meeting, and really a face to face is the way to go. If you go in there and are passionate and rational in your arguments I would say that it is quite likely management would listen. Whether conditions would change or not is another story. Have you ever thought about trying to Unionize? From past comments of yours I know that you are in a branch of the Healthcare Industry, and I know quite a few people in that industry in the Appleton/Green Bay area and the wages are terrible conditions deplorable. If management is unresponsive to the workforce perhaps it is time to stand up and demand that your voice be heard. Unionization would provide a medium for voicing not only your concerns about wages, but also about concerns about the care of the residents of the facilities. Union (In my experiences talking with schoolmates, friends, and family about there experiences working in the Healthcare industry it is truly appalling how the health and wellbeing of the residents almost an afterthought, and when employee's bring up issues to superiors they are at best humored then the issue is dropped as soon as the "whistleblower" leaves the office, and at worst told to just be quite about it) Here are a couple links about how to form a union and the potential benefits. http://www.seiu1199wi.org/join/howformunion.cfm http://www.seiu1199wi.org/onthejob/index.cfm
  14. My Top 5 Candidates (in order of importance) 1. Defense 2. Billy Hall 3. Guillermo Mota 4. Dave Bush 5. Gagne and Turnbow Yes Ben Sheets, a healthy Ben Sheets, is the biggest key to a Brewers team contending for a World Series this year, but I am going to throw his name out of the disscusion in my bounceback players. His problems are stricktly, IMO, health related, and not him needing to improve anything but his conditioning. If you want to have a hope they don't get hurt list then Sheets is 1, weeks is 2, and Gallardo is 3. The Defense isn't a true BounceBack candidate but it is "who" I most want to succeed. An improved infield defense should improve the stats for all pitchers. The Brewers chances are dependent on the ability of the infield to "gel" and play at least average defense. How will Bill Hall readjust to 3rd base? Will Rickie Weeks show us that he can and should be a 2nd baseman for years to come? Guillermo Mota having a good year would probably give the Brewers one of the best bullpens in the NL. Gagne and Turnbow I would like to see have dominant years just for the simple fact that then they would probably be type A free agents, netting the Brewers and Jack Zdnerick extra picks.
  15. Ugh... wow. That is really amazing that is all he could get. It's not like it's a lock that Boston would have any use for him during the season. I wish the Brewers would have made a run at him, I wonder if he could make an effective reliever if he can get his velocity back up to at least 93-94.
  16. Yeah Ervin Santana is a name I wouldn't want to touch. If the Brewers were "rebuilding" a Sheets for Santana and Mathis deal might make sense but, the Brewers are contendors and should act accordingly. Cappy or Bush and prospects wouldn't get any deal done becaue the Angels have better internal options. Santana is just scary how his home stats are amazing and his road stats are abysmal.
  17. I don't know how much of a "lock" Mota is to make the team. I seem to remember some comments from the Brewers that Mike Maddox was really intrigued by Mota late last year. Mota still had his velocity but needed to make some adjustments to make to his pitching motion. So if Maddux dosen't like what he see's out of Mota in spring training I would be the Brewers would dump him with out a second thought.
  18. Any long term deal would be buying out a year or two of Free Agency. That would be a huge plus. Also you could try and spread out the dollar value more evenly giving more room to sign players longer into the deal. Fielder, Braun and Hart are all guys that I would like to see the Brewers buyout a year or two of Free Agency
  19. This thread makes me giggle. Profusely! I would say that this thread has been educational. For my 25 years of existence I thought that I was a man because I had boy parts, not girl parts. I never knew that manliness or masculinity had to do with diet.
  20. WooHoo. So when do the Brewers announce that they are introducing the Boca Brat into the Brat Race. Honestly though if the Brewers did that it would be a nice bunch of free advertising that they would get. As a vegetarian of 10 years I just want to say, Congratulations Prince. I don't push my beleifs on others but I am always happy when they make the decision for themselves. For me I made the decision to stop eating meat when I really thought about what I was doing. If I wanted a hamburger I knew that I wouldn't be willing to go out and kill and butcher the animal to get the meat, so therefore it was illogical for me to be willing to eat meat. Regarding the health aspects, being a vegitarian dosen't take anymore work than eating meat. Yes you need to replace the lost protein, that is easy to do tofu is a much better means of getting protein. Iron and Vitamin B12 are the things that you probably are going to have to go and actually buy a vitamin supplement to get. Omega 3 fatty acids are also something that will need to get if you don't eat fist. You can get Omega 3 from Soy Nuts and Walnuts. A simple enough endeavor. Then it is just a matter of eating a healthy and varied diet. I think I am going to have to buy a Prince Fielder jersey
  21. Yup I'm so bored too... wait this isn't the I'm so bored thread? My bad I saw NBA All Star game and just immediately became bored out of my mind.
  22. Good for them, I hope they still have 37000 fans to fill it up on opening night.
  23. Mark Rogers value is minimal on the trade market. His potential is amazing, although odds are that it is very slim he reaches his potential. So basically you have a guy with "Ace" stuff that has way to many red flags for any team willing to offer up more than a very minimal return for him. Therefore you have a situation where his original team can only keep him and try and help him reach his potential. You've got a "potential" B+ or A- prospect that I would bet most teams would say has the value of a C- prospect. Gamel appears to be a nice player, a real nice player. He probably isn't good enough defensively to be a third baseman where his value would be maximized. As a Left Fielder or Firstbaseman he would dramatically lose value because he isn't the prototype. It seems like he might end up being a Lyle Overbay or Scott Hatteberg type. Nice players but not irreplacable. Jeffress is someone I really wouldn't know how to value, and I would assume that across the league his trade value would fluctuate dramatically. Character issues, and a limited minor league track record hurt his value. Is he Jose Cappellan or is he a viable frontline starter? If you put Parra into a trade with those three, perhaps that would make a very intriguing offer for a rebuilding team. Parra would give them a majors ready who could be a star. Jeffress would be the lower level high ceiling prospect that could have a dramatic impact on the franchise in a few years. Gamel would give them another majors ready player, albeit lower ceiling. Rogers really would be the nugget of the deal.
  24. 1. Brian Shouse - Could easily be in the junkyard, or be the everyday work horse (with some care) 2. JJ Hardy - Could be in your future the next ten years, could get traded in and you wouldn't have second thoughts 3. Craig Counsell - You bought it when you started a family and it was decent while it lasted but quickly you've become embarrassed of it. 4. Chris Capuono - You bought it thinking it was a steal, and it probably is but there is always something to complain about with it. 5. Yovanni Gallardo - You don't use this often, but when you do everyones jaw drops. 6. Jeff Suppan - You bought it 17 years ago, and today it hasn't changed, reliable, effective yet unspectacular. 7. Ben Sheets - Flashy but it's a Saturn you have to worry about it breaking down at any time. 8. Corey Hart - A bit flashier, a bit dependable, a bit functional, a bit of everything. 9. Prince Fielder - When your coming everyone see's you and knows your one bad dude. 10. Rickie Weeks - Smaller compact, but has some power. More power than it's tiny frame can handle? Im not much of a car guy so I may have a different image in my head, of the car listed.
