  1. Adding on to this what would be the compensation for letting Scott Linebrink walk. Is it gaurenteed that it would be the same to Cordero?
  2. I doubt that there would be much information available but I figured it was worth a shot asking. With the recent trade of Linebrink, who I am assuming will bring the Brewers compensatory picks if he is not resigned, and with Cordero's impending departure and the impending picks I am curious what next years draft looks like. Does it look like a deep draft? Pitching heavy? Lot's of college talent?
  3. The scary thing is a 4th or 5th starter, starting in San Diego will probably have a sub-3 era. Honestly, im fine with the deal, im just very worried that Inman will be a solid major leaguer but in that stadium will look significantly better.
  4. My initial reation was, wow, just wow. After thinking about it it seems more palatable when you factor in the impending compensatory picks. I have the utmost faith in Jack Z being able to turn an additional 2 picks into solid prospects. The chances that the Brewers end up drafting a player that ends up being as good or better of a prospect than Inman is quite high, IMHO. Granted Inman was probably 2 years away, when the potetial players picked most likely would be farther away. I also have faith in the Brewers organization to evaluate talent. Inmans stats are jawdropping but so were Ben Hendrickson's. Most of us, knowing what we now know about Ben would be thrilled to have gotten a very good bullpen arm for him. Garrison and Thatcher I know very little about, although I was enthusiasitic about Thatchers future in the Brewers pen. So to conclude im simply going to have to say that im leary of this trade, but am going to have to rely on my faith in the Brewers oranization. The really scary part of this trade is that we gave up 3 pitchers...3 pitchers who will be pitching in Petco Park (SD stadium. Even if in reality they only top out as decent pitchers pitching in that stadium might make them look amazing.
  5. Dye is an intriguing name. He has been dominant in the past and has shown small glimpses of getting out of his funk this year. I guess I don't have much confidence in a Jenkins / Mench platoon, so I would definitely be interested in aquiring Dye. Last year Dye was a legit MVP Candidate .315 avg / .385 obp / 44HR / 120 RBI This year is stat line is just putrid, but I think he is the exact type of player to target, a high risk high reward acqusition. Dye is one of the players that I think might be able to be acquired, that could possibly have a major impact. Trade Zach Jackson, Alscadies (sp) Escobar, and a lower level high ceiling prospect for Dye. Expect very little from him, but hope for a return to form. A resurgent Dye in the 5 spot would be amazing to watch.
  6. As everyone else has said, this sucks. This really sucks. Angel Salome was one of the Brewers prospects that I really was extremely enthusiastic about. Now, I just don't know. I doubt this affects his prospect status all that much, but I just don't really wanna root for him. I truly hope this is just an oversite on Angel, and or the Brewers organization. I hope that this just ends up being that Angel got some supplement that he thought was A-OK and didn't take it to the team nutritionist to see if it was infact ok to take. (If in fact A ball clubs have a nutritionist) This is bad but this should be a wakeup call to the Brewers organization. On a side note, wasn't Brendan Katin "caught" for steroids earlier in the season? I have seen Katin in the boxscores continuosly so I might have my facts mixed up.
  7. Hmmm.... this is the first post I have ever read that has terrified me.
  8. Alot of where I want to see Corey is dependent on whether or not Rickie Weeks can handle leading off. If Rickie's back then this is what I would want to see, at least for a few games to see what happens. 1 - Rickie Weeks 2 - Corey Hart 3 - Ryan Braun 4 - Prince 5 - Hall (when healthy) 6 - JJ Hardy 7 - Jenkins/Mench/Graffy 8 - Estrada/Miller I would like to see that lineup for a week or so and see how Rickie, JJ and Corey would respond. It would be nice if Rickie could return to last years form, getting that OBP above .350. Corey is a player that probably can be put anywhere in the lineup and will succeed, and JJ might just need a shakeup. With how much the Brewers use the bench having a set lineup is kind of pointless, but this is what I would like to see.
  9. Grrrrr.....touche.....my bad totally. Well, still love Suns draft Tucker should be a nice complimentary player.
  10. The Suns owner always seems to be quite cheap...errr... wait.... frugal... uhm... fiscally responsable. From what i have seen online over the past few year the owner has made it clear that he will do whatever possible to not exceed the NBA Luxury Tax thereshold. Giving up next years #1 pick for the Suns is nothing because it is going to be a late pick, plus they still have the Hawks pick coming, plus they drafted Tiago Splitter (i love the move) who won't be leaving Argentina this year. Also the other pick, who really cares about a draft 3 years from now. The Sun's really are, IMHO, a brilliant organization. They have a pretty stacked roster and they managed to get plenty of draft picks that allowed them to get rid of a couple to get back on budget, and still be sitting pretty for the future. I am absolutely in love with the Tiago Splitter pick, I doubt he ever is a Sun, but I think they just drafted him and plan on using him as a trade piece at the deadline, or offseason. My gushing over the Suns is not to say that they Supersonics did'n't get a great deal, just that the Suns do EVERYTHING right.
  11. When the Brewers made the trade for Mench weren't the Reds and Pirates two of the teams that were rumored to be asking the Brewers about his potential availability? Mench's power would be amplified in Cincys park. It is just fun to speculate. The Reds have a lot of pieces that the Brewers could use that could potentially be available. David Weathers Adam Dunn Bronson Arroyo ?Ryan Freel?
  12. If the Twinkies would trade Nathan, they would ask for and recieve the moon. Nathan has uber value. The Twins would probably want a player like Corey Hart and a prospect. Maybe more?
  13. I think that this is going to end up like the Overbay deal. Everyone seemed to see it coming, have a rough guess of what they thought it would be and then when it gets announced the pieces are all different. I have been advocating getting Dunn for about a year. I know the BA isn't that high, but he walks a ton which mostly makes up for that. Dunn hitting behind Fielder would be fierce. As someone mentioned already I too would rather have Eric Burnes but, I don't get everything I want. Byrnes is a guy that I would think that the Brewers would/could/should target in the offseason to replace Jenkins. Well gotta go, need to see what the Cubbies website is saying about this rumor.
  14. He might possibly have the most dramatic home/road splits of any player...ever. Home 3.16 256 IP Away 7.16 191 IP Crazy there is that much difference.
  15. After work I will try and find the link, and take it for what it is worth but it was from a localish Florida Paper. (Probably not the most reliable source) Within a week or so I am pretty positive Ben Maller's rumor section on Foxsports.com had an article about how Willis' value has been consistently plumeting, and because of that the Marlins will try and trade him this year. I wouldn't be shocked if Manny Parra and Tony Gwynn Jr. would be somewhat close to value. I would think that the Marlins would also want an additional lower level high ceiling prospect. Gwynn Parra Gamel Would I do that? Probably. Would I have to think long and hard about that? Definitely!
  16. Didn't Ramon Sessions and Nevada play the Badgers sometime this...in the tourny?... and didn't he play fabulous? I seem to remeber listening to a Nevada/Wisconsin game and Sessions play amazing. I could be wrong, im not a big basketball fan. About the first round pick, I love it, as long as it is true that he will play for Milwaukee. I would have loved Brewer but skilled 7 footers have significantly more value than skilled SFs
  17. Making an effort to obtain Mark Buehrle is probably the best thing the Brewers can do for this year and future years. It seems like everyone thinks that the Cardinals have the inside track to sign him as a free agent and probably will do it. The Brewers trading for this year would give the Brewers a little time to potentially woo him to sign long term, if that is possibly in Mark A's long term budget isn't something that I or any of us would be able to speculate on. At the worst the Brewers trading for Buehrle would give them a boost this year and make the Cardinals, potentially, give up compensatory picks to the Brewers. I doubt the White Sox are going to give away Buehrle to save some money they are going to demand value in return. I would think an offer that might be enough to entice the White Sox would be - Angel Salome, Manny Parra, +one (Gwynn Jr.?). Catching prospects are worth their weight in gold, but with the success of Palmasono, and the two recently drafted catchers the loss of an A ball catcher might not be the end of the world. Manny Parra is a guy who just dramatically increased his value with the Perfect game, and the first thing I thought was that wow he could bring in a nice piece for a run this year. Gwynn Jr. seems like a guy that would be a logical replacement for Scott Podsednik. Normally I am a frugal individual when it comes down to trading away prospects, especially catchers and pitchers but the way the NL is shaping up this year, now might be the perfect time for, dare I say it, a World Series run. Go get Mark Buehrle!
  18. Why is it acceptable for someont the express the opinion that it is a sad day that Jerry Falwell died, yet people's post who said that it was anything other than that got deleted? I fully understand why my post was deleted but I am anoyed that the original post is allowed to express an opinion about Falwells death, yet people who posted the opposite thought, were deleted. It seems like there is a double standard.
  19. No way would i give up on Inman for Putz. I would say that is probably equal value for Putz as he is seemingly underrated, but I wouldn't even contemplate getting rid of Inman for a reliever.
  20. At first I was thinking that JJ Putz would end up costing a lot more than that, and I still think that his value is much higher than the players mentioned, but Bravasi is really an idiot. Rafael Soriano for Horacio Ramirez need I say more.
  21. off the top of my head I remember someone saying that the latest edition of Baseball America had the Brewers minor leagues as the 5th best system. Might be off a number or two but pretty sure that is where they got ranked
  22. Am I the only one that dosen't find her to be anything special? Yes she has large...uh....endowments...but she is really just a marginally atractive woman. She's attractive but nothing special.
  23. ah...yes I guess I could have read the introduction...then thanks the three of you...I can't believe there isn't more chat about this yet...
  24. Thanks to the quartet (?) of people who worked on this. Probably my favorite feature of this site.
  25. This probably would be better in the trade rumors section, but i'll throw my opinion in here before it gets moved. The Brewers do have solid to good starters all over and a depth that I have never seen in my life as a Brewer fan. The two names you threw out there Gwynn and Cappellan probably wouldn't end up netting anything that would be better than anything the Brewers currently have. Cappellan's value is near zero and I don't see it dramatically improving. Gwynn Jr's value is something that might fluctuate greatly, but for his value to improve to a point where the Brewers to get good talent in return he would need to get significant time starting in the ML's, and he would need to be very successful to silence the doubters. Those two names would bring in a relief pitcher of some talent, nothing special. (obviousally IMO) That being said I do think that the Brewers would/will be active at the trade deadline. Some areas I think the Brewers will look to add talent: RELIEF PITCHERS - every team will be after quality arms out of the pen, probably best to try and improve from within, as the trade value will probably be outragous BACKUP 1ST & 3RD - Graffy won't be a Brewer if/when Braun gets called up, Counsel then would be strictly backup 2nd/SS, A veteran Scott Spiezio type would be great then the only potential I see for a major deal OUTFIELDER - Halls progression kind of determines if this becomes a possibility. If Hall needs to become a 3rd baseman, then a major deal for a CF becomes a possibility, Braun would then be penciled in as a LFer next year (at some point) Baldelli and Crawford are obvious names that might be possible although most likely to expensive (crazy D-ray demands) One of the rent-a-players might make sense Cameron, Hunter, Ichiro, Jones. I would think that the Brewers will try and move an outfielder or two, maybe a pitcher (villenueva or bush in a mega deal for outfielder), and any minor leaguer not named Gallardo, Inman, or Braun
