  1. I assume the "rules" he was talking about is the professional approach the Yankees take. No facial hair, clean cut. I believe they are expected to show up to the stadium in suits, or other acceptable professional attire.
  2. Dang, if he dosen't make it the majors, maybe a career in the WWE is in his future.
  3. If, in the hypothetical A-Rod deal the Brewers could somehow nix his opt-out option I still don't think I would be thrilled to do it. I don't know if the difference between A-Rod at third and Hall at third is big enough to make up for the loss of Sheeter. Granted it is only, roughly, 2 years of sheets but still, ehh, I wouldn't want to have to make that decision.
  4. Endaround, when did anyone, I assume you are directing that comment directly at me, make the suggestion of trading Sheets for Gabe gross and Jose Cappellan. You can disagree with the idea of ever potentially trading Sheets but putting illogical, and assine words into peoples mouths to discredit the hypothetical discussion going on, is completely foolish.
  5. I say trading Sheets for prospects should never happen. That is why I don't agree with what UWRyan wants in return Adenhart and other such prospects from the Dodgers. However the Brewers are going to be in a tough situation in the offseason if it is clear they can't sign Sheets. Do they go for it all that one season or try and turn Sheets into 2 or 3 assets for the 3-4 years? If I was in Melvins position I would seriousally consider trading Sheets for a legitimate proven bullpen arm with closer upside and an young outfielder with ML experience with tremendous potential, with a prospect. Rios is a guy that I thought would make a lot of sense for the Brewers but I don't see anything else that matches up. I would have said Brandon League, but he has been demoted and lost an apparent 10 mph on his fastball.
  6. Mass Haas, thanks for all the time and effort you put in. I forgot how much fun it was last year reading through the Hot Sheet every week last year. Lets just hope the Brewers are represented as much, (or more), this year.
  7. If Sheeter were to be traded I really think that the only way that Melvin would trade him is getting proven players in return. If the Mets keep up Millege and get him 300 AB's and bring up Pelfery (did they do that already), and he is solid then yes I would think that Melvin would be all over that, but if both of those players preform well enough for Melvin to want them I don't see the Metropolitians giving them up. In the offseason if Sheets is on the block I would think that Melvin would want in return a legitamte leadoff hitter/or corner outfielder, and a proven releif pitcher with closer potential. That is why I think the Angels are the way to go, obviousally they seem reluctant to move anyone but were all just talking hypothetically here. Scott Shields would be our setup man replacing Turnbow, who would in turn be replacing Cordero(FA), or Shields could close if Turnbow regresses. Ervin Santana would be another Melvin-ian target, not that it is a need but a player that could then be shopped, Rocco Baldelli and Carl Crawfords name have been brought up before in RUMORS involving Santana. Macier Izturis probably dosen't have a spot with the Angels long term and not that he would have defined roll with the Crew but I think he would help even out the deal a bit. Sheets for Ervin Santana Scott Shields Macier Izturis I may be overvaluing Sheets, I may be undervaluing Sheets but this is type of return I would think that Melvin would look for. Multiple young proven players, filling multiple areas that could use improvment.
  8. I will say an offseason deal would be the only time I could envision a Ben Sheets deal, as the Brewers are deadset on being competitive the next couple of years. If you are going to trade Sheets you need to do it in the offseason when you can get legitimate major leaguers in return. At the trade deadline a team in competition probably isn't going to want to trade players already on their roster and competing. However in the offseason it would be more likely to see a team be willing to "shake" up their roster. If Sheets goes the Brewers would need to receive elite Major League PROVEN talent in return. A team in contention isn't going to (typically) try and totally rearrange thier roster in mid-season. In the offseason when they can sign free-agents, make other trades, and evaluate internal replacment options a roster upheaval would be possible. This does now have me thinking. If Cappy, Bush, Vargas, Supp all pitch well this season, and Gallardo gets a bit of seasoning, maybe, not likely, the Brewers put out feelers on a Sheets trade. Sheets to the Angels? Scott Shields, Macier Izturis, and a young pitcher +/-. Does look at least a bit appatizing.
  9. Haha, I was wondering after his start today if something like this would happen and it did. Ben Sheets is an essential component to the Brewers success for this year and next. There is now way you trade him unless someone offers you some amazing package of young talent that already has some ML experience. This year trading Sheets is out of the question. Next year I really think the Brewers can/will be legitimate contenders so trading Sheets would then, again, be out of the question.
  10. Wow, with the way T-bow and coco are pitching the Brewers a pretty much just playing 7 inning games. It is great to see that the Brewers biggest question mark going into the season, the bullpen, has been stellar. The next biggest question mark has been defense which although shaky, has been an improvement over last year. I might finally be starting to beleive that the Brewers could be/are the team to beat in the Central.
  11. I don't know, I think the Brewers are giving up to much in that deal. If the Red Sox would throw in this little know prospect that goes by the name, i think it is , Dice-K.
  12. I will be a bit shocked it Cappellan isn't up again by June/mid june. Odds are a Starter will get hurt moving Villy to the rotation opening up a spot, or a reliever will get hurt/underpreform.
  13. Lets just hope the Dukes mashes while Baldelli is out, likely, and stays out of trouble, far less likely. The better Dukes plays the more likely the D-Rays are to trade a player like Baldelli, or to a lesser extent Crawford. With how ugly that pitching staff looks I am sure guys like Cappellan, Zach Jackson, Carlos Villenueva etc. would all be apealing to the Rays
  14. I am hardly a fan of pop music but have begun to appreciate it for it's absolute absurd hilarity. But on to what is bugging me...when mid song the singer bust's out into the seventh grade spelling bee. I think that every song by Fergie they bust out with the spelling bee. Is it to prove to people that hey look I got past 3rd grade, I can spell tasty, t - a - s - t - y. Is she trying make sure that when her looks start to fade she will always have a job on Sesame Street? This thread is tight, t - i - g - h - t. I could probably go on for hours and hours about the billions of things bugging me about pop music but, i'll save that for another day, because I am certain you all want to hear. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. LOOGY = Lefthanded One Out GuY not 100% certain correct me if I am wrong
  16. Earlier in the offseason when Boston and Washington were attempting to work out a deal for Cordero Washington was asking for the world. I remember rotoworld.com reporting that the Nationals asked for Jon Lester (not sure how that would work seeing as he is/was coming back from cancer, or if that proves the "report" to be false), Craig Hansen, and another high ceiling prospect an outfielder (cf) forgetting his name think he was in AA last year, or Bard as a PTBL. So if that in fact was the case for the Brewers to attempt to aquire Cordero it would cost Yovanni Gallardo, who has more value than Lester, and at least one more player. I would think that the Nationals would try and get Gallardo, Jackson, and Angel Salome. Gallardo for Cordero straight up no thanks, having to throw in extra parts to get Cordero no, no. no. I wouldn't mind aquiring Cordero seeing as I would really like to see the Brewers do everything possible to make 2 year run, with Bennie Sheets. If the club could, not at all likely, but IF, Will Inman, Zach Jackson, and Alcides Escobar could net Chad Cordero that I would probably be all over. Zach Jackson and Escobar are two player that I wouldn't really care if we lost. Will Inman is a guy that I really don't want to get rid of but if he could end up netting the Brewers a player that could dramatically improve the club's chances over the next two years I would definitely think that it should be explored.
  17. Do we really want to get rid of Brady Clark though. I will be first to admit that in a perfect world a Geoff Jenkins/Kevin Mench split in LF would be perfect for the Brewers. With comments that both players have made I would doubt that would be a feasable option. I would think that one would want to rid themselves of part of that chaos. So what do you want? Geoff Jenkins and Mench platooning and crying. or Geoff Jenkins and Brady Clark platooning (not a true platoon 80/20 ish to try and apease Jenkins who for the most part has been a class act in his time in Milwaukee or Mench and Gross platooning (65/35 to try and apease mench) Personally I am begininng to like the Geoff Jenkins and Brady clark timeshare. If Jenkins would start to whine about playing time again Gross would be on the roster to take over for him. Brady Clark may be overpriced but I would like to see him stick around because he seems to be one of the few outfielders that dosen't seem to expect playing time, he seems to accepted his role and realized that the only way he will get increased playing time is through on-the-field production.
  18. Hernan Iribarren - I really wanted the Brewers to just release him after the corked bat incident, he showed my why that would have been a mistake Evan Anundeson - Don't know much/anything about him, some of the scouting reports I saw after he was drafted intrigued me Yohannis Perez Rogue Mercedes Rolando Pascual Basically I look for the guys that I don't/didn't have high expectations for, or don't know enough about to have expectations yet
  19. Also the Yankees pulled down a couple pretty dang good trades this offseason. Sheffield netted them Humberto Sanchez a name that was bandied about (at least on here) as a potential trade option for Carlos Lee. Randy Johnson netted them 3 decent pitching prospect two (i believe werer AA or higher.
  20. I would kind of think that the Brewers would be stealing Melvin Mora, while Phillies get a fairish deal. From what I remember reading about the potential Brewers trade for Lieber the Phillies were balking because they wanted a RP in return Turnbow, or as a few articles mentioned they were holding out for Cappellan.
  21. You can really tell the state of dissaray the Pirates are in when there #4 prospect is Yoslan Herrara, a cuban defector they signed just this year. I would be curious how Herrera rates in comparision to Yohannis Perez? And how Yohannis Perez would rank if he was a Pirate prospect?
  22. I really don't know but I am not as optimistic as UWRyan. I think the Brewers have a very nice farm system, but without giong out and doing some serious research I would say they are closer to the 8-13 range. They have the nice trio of B+/A prospects Gallardo/Braun/Inmann. They have a nice selection of players with tools/upside to be very very good prospects Fermaint, Salome, Dillard, Gillsepe, Cain, Irrebean, Gamel, Brewer. But the real plus appears to bbe the depth of the minors. There apears to be guite a few players at every level that appear to have quite a few players on every level who will/should have careers in the major leagues.
