  1. When Washington and Boston was talking about a deal for Cordero Washington wanted 3 high ceiling pitchers. The rumor was that they asked for Craig Hansen, Jon Lester, plus another lower level high ceiling pitcher. No way does Turnbow and Jackson get it done. If you offered Gallardo and Jackson, that might be enough for them, but I doubt any of the people on this board would do that.
  2. No. An emphatic NO. Helton has no place with the Brewers, obviousally, not implying that is what you are saying just stating. Jenkins has no place with the Rockies unless the Brewers payed all/most of his salary. If the Rockies trade Helton they are going to be paying a HUGE chunk of his salary meaning they probably won't have room to add payroll. I just don't see any possible reason to think the Brewers could make any sort of feasable trade.
  3. While I am a politics junkie and love chatting religion I fully understand and am fine with the banning of Religion/Politics chat. I know that odds are if we got into a disscussion I would have views that would offend a large grouping of people. With how heated the Doug Davis arm injury ??? thread is getting, imagine if real issues were being disscussed? Oh the fury. All that being said by someone who probably pushes the boundries in acceptable chat all to offten.
  4. parkside21, I might be going if I can convince a couple friends to come along. I'll keep you posted so carpooling can be disccussed. I too am a non-drinker so that wouldn't be an issue
  5. One more quick question, are you sticking with ezboard for a while. Is it worthwhile to sign up as an ezboard supporter or not? btw...thanks for the info 'bout the store, i've never seen that before, picked up a couple neat shirts...great designs
  6. Sorry I didn't contribute. I was waiting to get my next paycheck, but I will definitely pick up a shirt or two, but I am having trouble finding out where to order them from. Help would be appreciated.
  7. I am a bit confused by this thread. Does anyone know exactly what Rogers went under the knife for and how long the standard recovery for said surgery is? There just seems to be so much confusion and speculation.
  8. I really hate Mass Hass, now, all of this newfound knowledge has just pushed out some really important info out of my brain. Or wait is it brian....brain..see this is what happens when usless, yet fun, info is put into my head.
  9. Honestly in that proposed deal, I think that Houston would absolutely stealing Hall. I wouldn't touch that at all.
  10. Exactly, next year I think the Brewers can compete for a Wild Card but be considered one of the better teams in baseball. 2008 is the year the Brewers can/should be in contention for the Division title and be a quality club. That is why I think that Villenueve, and/or Gallardo should get at least a half season starting in the majors to try and break them in.
  11. I really think that the only possible way of getting Linebrick is if we we do a Villenueva and Jenkins for Linebrink and mediocre procpect.
  12. I too would like to get Cla Meridith from the Padres but I don't see Jenkins as being of equal value. I would say a Jenkins, Zach Jackson, Hernan Irrebean for Cla Meridith offer would be realistic. The Padres give a quality arm that IIRC had a pretty darn good half season coming out of the pen, but in return recieve a starting OFer, a AAA arm with potential, and a potential replacement at 2nd base. EDIT: I may or may not be overvalueing Meridith, but part of the problem is I don't think any of us are certain of Geoff Jenkins value is.
  13. According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, it's possible the Padres will acquire Geoff Jenkins to play left field. The Brewers would eat some of the $7.5 million they still owe Jenkins in order to move him. Still, the Padres don't have a lot to give up in return. This is one trade possibility in which Scott Linebrink's name should not surface. Source: FOXSports.com www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=2529
  14. Personally I would say that Capuono or Bush or Villenueve (+prospect/s) for Rios would be a good deal. I like Bushes upside and am infatuated with his secondary numbers but Rios has amazing potential and showed it when healthy last year.
  15. Last week I went over to Bluejayway.ca to get their thoughts about Rios and his value. I propsed Capuono for him and they laughed it off as a dellusional Brewers fan. They wanted Capuono and Hall for Rios, Jason Frasor, Romero. Talk about dellusional!
  16. Oh joy. This will give me weeks of stuff to think about when I am bored at work. If that happend then I would reiterate what I have been saying for a few weeks now, that the Brewers contemplate moving a pitcher for a CFer. Pull of the Lieber deal, then dump Jenkins contract. Then ship Cappuono or Bush to the Mets for Millege and a prospect. (obviousally Pelfrey would be out of the question, but what about Maine, or Heilman)
  17. Hey I pretty much agree with both of you about wanting pitching depth....BUT, if you can turn a player that will pitch every 5th day, and you have a decent alternative option, you should be open to trade possibilities. Players I would hope to be part of any potential deal including one of our pitchers: Alex Rios Garret Atkins Brad Hawpe Chad Tracy Crawford Baldelli Basically if the Brewers could turn one of their quality pitcher into an everyday leadoff, or 3-4-5, hitter, I would be totally in favor of it.
  18. I said it in another thread but, I will restate my ideas on this topic. The Brewers are in a position that they are solid with veterans in their starting rotation, and have 2-4 young pitchers that could/will contribute (at some point). Should the Brewers try adamantly to trade away one member of that bundle or not? I personally think that Melvin should put his feelers out there on the trade value of Capuano, Vargas, and Villenueva. Melvin should then do a cost-benefit analysis on any offers. If the Brewers can trade away some of that "depth" and get a very good young leadoff candidate, or a 3-4-5 hitter it should at least be mulled over. The option should be explored.
  19. Thanks for the info, I remembered him having a couple of good games at the plate this year I just kind of wrote them off as an aberration.
  20. Quite honestly with Suppan in the fold I think that the Brewers should explore the option of trading Capuono, Vargas, or Villenueva. I do think that pitching depth is important, but I would think that the Brewers should at least try and do a cost/benefit analysis on trading one of their other pitchers. Capuono would be able to on his own bring in Alex Rios, or be a huge part of a deal for Crawford. I wouldn't say that trading any of our pitchers should be a priority just that they should look at the possiblity at turning some of their Starting Pitching depth into a prominent impact outfielder.
  21. Is Gallardo thought to be a good hitting pitcher, the comment about his prowess with a bat was the comment that stood out to me?
  22. Well I generally try and look at trade proposals from the other teams perspective and what they would want in return. I do think the Brewers do match up and have "potentially" enough to trade for Rios, IF.... Brewers sign Jeff Suppan then Brewers could offer Chris Capuano for Alex Rios or JJ Hardy Carlos Villenueva (B prospect 8-15 range) for Alex Rios
  23. If it is a minor league deal.............then sure. Sign him up Brevard County could use a LFer.
  24. I think Suppan should be option #1 obviousally. Even if we get Suppan I think Villenueva should at least be given a fair shot at the #5 spot. Vargas could then be our long relief pitcher. Option #2: Sign Joel Pinero. Tell Pinero that the #4 or #5 spot is his to lose (apparently he really want's a starting job), have Pinero, Vargas, Villenueva compete for the last two spots. If Villenueva wins a job then either Pinero or Vargas could fill the long relief/spot starter roll. Quite honestly I think that Villenueva should get a starting job this year. Unless he falls flat on his face. If Melvin thinks that Villenueva is a long term part of the Brewers plans in the rotation then Melvin will give him at least half of a year in the rotation. When the young bats were coming up I seem to remember Melvin saying that he wanted to get one at least 200 AB's before he would call up another. I don't see why Melvin wouldn't try to do something similar with pitchers. Villlenueva getting 15-20 starts before Gallardo, potentially, being called up. (Probably next year)
  25. BoneDaddyKool, I am so with you on the personal bubble. There isn't to much I despise more than people who don't understand boundaries. So now what I do is buy very long shoelaces don't ever tie them, and leave the laces just spread out and dangle on the floor. People generally do notice and are nice enough to not step on them so I have an actually 15 inch bubble around me.
