  1. I think I hate myself a little. Well, alot. I will forever deny ever writing this but, I like Ashley Simpson's newest song/video. Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya) http://youtube.com/watch?v=K5UoVKV1VsY It sounds like a funky 80s band tribute. Gah, I really, really hate myself
  2. I would highly doubt that the Orioles would want Cappy Vargas Wise Aquino. For Bedard they are going to want at least 2 uber prospects, near majors ready, and a couple more players. A team like the Orioles don't just need to add a couple extra decent arms, they are in all out rebuilding mode. They wanted Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw and Andy Laroche from the Dodgers. There is Matt Kemp who is the Dodgers version of Corey Hart. Kershaw who is as promising of a pitching prospect in basebal, and Laroche who is a pretty nice 3rd base prospect. The Brewers would probably have to offer at least Corey Hart, Manny Parra, Matt Gamel, and Jeremy Jeffress.
  3. Yes it is sad to lose Garrison, Inman, and Thatcher. I was shocked how amazing Garrison was down the stretch after the trade. The trade was a risk, but a calculated risk. The Brewers were in contention. They had a need they filled the need with the best available player. Let's not forget that Linebrink also has brought in 2 additional high draft picks. Let's at least wait until we see who Jack Z, the Executive of the Year, is able to draft. It is reasonable to assume that one of those 2 picks becomes a prospect of equal or greater status than that of Inman or Garrison.
  4. It's time to just let this thread die off. At this time this discussion has become an excercise in futility. Coach, you have to understand that people aren't going to completely beleive everything that another person says on an internet message board. People aren't saying Angel is a bad guy, just that he made a mistake. If it was amphetamines, or steriods, or any other kind of banned substance it is still a mistake. (I know you said angel takes a ADD med, but he should have know not to change the drug without notifying MLB) Angel is a great prospect and from all acounts is a nice guy. I am glad you came and gave us your views, and gave us your insight. Now it is just time to wait out the suspension get Salome back on the field, and get on with his progression. I doubt that Pogokat is trying to discredit your character, simply trying to tell people to make up thier own minds about this issue. I will say that pogo, did at time come across as a little pompous. Well, i've probably randomly rambled on for long enough, and incoherently enough. Coach I hope we continue to hear from you as Angel progresses throught the system. I also hope that you keep us in mind as the draft approaches, there is a great Draft thread here, and I am sure that a ton of us would like to hear about your prospects.
  5. Wow, I kind of thought with all of the Kendal talk the Brewer might try and trade Estrada. This isn't the kind of return I was expecting. If you are going to get rid of your starting catcher then you will need to find a replacement. Most likely sign a free agent for at or above what Estrada is going to earn. So, in my humble opinion, trading Estrada should have been to save a couple of bucks to try and offset the cost of bringing in a free agent catcher. That being said I really don't have much of a problem with this deal. Melvin had a player that it became abundantly obvious that he wanted no part of going forward, and traded him for a player the Mets wanted no part of going forward. Mota seems like he might be a nice reclamation project. If I remember right dosen't Mota have a bit of experience closing? What does the catching situation look like now. I am assuming Kendall gets signed. I like Kendall enough but am curious how much money he will get over how many years? Is Palmasano roughly penciled in as the backup? Or is Mike Rivera still around? Veteran free agent backup? Is Henry Blance out there, or any other defensive specialist?
  6. This is awesome. Great cause, educational, and fun.
  7. If your looking for a book that will make you feel like a horrible person, then I've got it Disposable People: New Slavery in the Global Economy by Kevin Bales First thing first all of the authors profits go to freetheslaves.com. A non-profit NGO fighting modern slavery. I haven't yet finished the book but I've broken down crying multiple times while reading it.
  8. Regarding Rogers, what surgery was it that he actually had? All I remember is conflicting reports, and chaos. With nothing certain. I've really been surprised at the lack of information about him and his recovery. It could just be I don't don't know where to look, which is probably most likely.
  9. This offseason if going to be a fun or devastating time. What is going to happen with the open spot in the OF? (Left Field or Center with Hall in LF) How is Melvin going to restock the Bullpen? What member/s of the starting rotation aren't going to be around next year? Is there anyway that Melvin could improve the catching situation?
  10. Lind will be a BlueJay for a long time. Matty Stairs should never, ever be legimitly be mentioned as a reason to trade away a prospect/player of Adam Linds caliper. Stairs would make a nice backup RF/LFer/DH. Reed Johnson will probably not be back next year. That said Reed Johnson might not be a bad player to try and target for a platoon mate for Gabe Gross, if the Brewers plan to go that route for LF next year. The guys at BlueJayway.ca will get a chuckle out of that rumor.
  11. Vince Vaughan. I have always thought he was/is a very attractive man. Tall, dark, and handsome. Has a great smile. Is funny. Truly the total package. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/b2f35102931589b11251133c108d98d5ac69b01_t.gif

  13. I am a Subway-a-holic. Footlong Veggie Max Provolone Cheese Lettuce Green Peppers Lots and Lots of Jalapeno Peppers and a Cheese Pizza with Jalapeno Peppers Point Beer is Better, if you go to Subway with your wife ask them if the have the Veggie Max, or Veggie Patty not all stores have it, but for vegitarians its great. A bunch of stores have it but don't have it on the menu. I don't know how knowledgable you or your wife are to veggie products but it really is alot like the Moringstar Farms Veggie Patty (ground veggies). Im a really picky eater and a vegitarian and I love it.
  14. I personally doubt that the Brewers would be able/willing to sign Fielder to the type of contract that he would expect to get. I truly believe the Brewers will end up trading Fielder with a year or year and a half before free agency. Similar to Mark Texiera. The best the Brewers, in my estimation could do, would be to buy out a year or two of free agency. With Boras as his agent that seems unlikely though. All that being said no one can truly say what Mark Antassio would be willing to do with his money in a few years.

  16. The Reds will no doubt pick up that option. That being said I still wouldn't be shocked to see him get moved in the offseason. If the Reds do make him available, I would think the Brewers would entertain the idea of trading for Dunn. As for if the Brewers would think about signing Dunn when he becomes a free agent, I really can't see it. Dunn is probably a 15+ mill per year player. There is no way that I can see a team like the Brewers droping that much cash on a player that mans a non-premium position.

  18. Falafel, Hummus, Baba Ghannough, and steamed grape leaves...mmmm.... Appleton finally got a good Mediterranean Restaurant. For anyone in that area Shishkabob is the name.
  19. I too would love Abreu, but he has an option, I believe it is a club option, for next year at 16 million. With his hot stretch I would assume the Yankees would gladly pick up that option, perhaps only to trade him away like they did last year with Sheffield.
  20. So would Fukodome project as a Bobby Abreau minus some of the steals. If so count me in as loving the idea. http://rotoworld.com/content/features/column.aspx?sport=MLB&columnid=2&articleid=28803 This has a little info on Fukodome, predicts he will end up with the Giants for 3 years 36 million
  21. Instead of Andrew Jones, and his contract that would financially hurt/destroy the Brewers future, Mike Cameron is a guy I would like to see the Brewers go after. I swore Cameron signed an extension, but I just checked and he is still listed as a FA at the end of the year. Cameron is 35, so won't get a super long deal. 2 or 3 years max, something like 2 years 17mill or 3 years 23-25 mill. Cameron would undoubtably put the outfield defense in much better shape. Away from Petco Cameron's line is .273/.352/.834 this year.
  22. If Melvin is fired, I will no longer be a Brewers fan. Melvin is the best thing to happen to this organization in years. And years. The problem to adding someone to the Brewers is who would it be and where would they go?
  23. I went and it was amazing. Getting there was a big hassle, it wasn't any worse than I heard. Rage was, well Rage, great musicians spreading a powerful message. Leaving there was truly chaos though. With all the people they had working there I can't believe that they didn't have more people directing traffic. After about an hour we just did the jerky thing and and cut across field, and the few people directing traffic actually stopped traffic and let us in. So I guess it pays to be jerk. Sorry, for anyone who followed parking lot etiquite.
  24. Posada would be a nice addition, I would imagine it would be tough to convice him to come hear. Pudge and Lo Duca are also free agents, I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers look into signing Pudge. Before Pudge signed his last contract weren't there at least some rumors the Brewers made a "competitive" offer to him? The guy I would really like to see the Brewers acquire this offseason, and someone who could potentially be available, would be Ramon Hernendez from Baltimore. Matt Wieters probably won't be the opening day starter but will at some point next year probably take over catching duties. Hernendez could DH and play 1st, but for the right offer I would assume Baltimore wouldn't hesitate to trade him if the right deal came along. Bush/Cappy and Estrada for Hernendez and a moderate prospect.
  25. That is kind of dissapointing that the Brewers didn't exceed slot value, it would have been nice if they could have gotten one or two extra players for above slot but oh well. Not that I know much/anything about him, and I am certain he would have been uber costly, but Jonathan White was a guy I was hoping would get signed. Does the comment about not going over slot value, does that include the signing of the 44th round Catcher, Za...(whatever it is)? Just curious about him, playing at such a small school I wonder what sort of a prospect he actually is.
