  1. Not recruiting for a league just a question / request. I am starting a league with some of my friends and half of them have never done a Fantasy Baseball League. I would like to find a cheat sheet that has the player stats included. This would help a ton in helping people to build more balanced roster, but I am having trouble finding any kind of cheat sheet like this. Anyone know where I can find something like that? If I can't find one I will probably just make one but I would prefer not to put that much time in. Also are there any decent guides for new players. I think I have explained things in depth but I would like to try and prepare people as much as possible.

  3. I like this much more than signing Jason Isringhausen to a minor league deal. I still hope the Brewers would look at signing Chad Cordero but this a much safer, and probably cheaper alternative. What has the world come to when Boras clients sign minor league deals?
  4. http://msn.foxsports.com/...d-Type-A-free-agent-rules If MLB does amend it's rules to allow for a sign and trade I would still love for the Brewers to look at trading for Cruz. I wonder what it would cost? I would, without hesitation, offer Cole Gillespie and PTBNL depending on performance.
  5. http://www.rotoworld.com/...ort=MLB&hl=253631&id=1796 AP reporting the Brewers are close to landing Hoffman. Nuff said. Nice low risk move. Much nicer than the Gagne pickup.

  7. Akinoi Otsuka and Eddie Guardado are two cheap names I would love to see the Brewers go after. Otsuka is coming off a major elbow injury but had a real nice run with the Padres and Rangers. Eddie Guardado is one year removed from a major injury but had a decent year last year with the Rangers and Twins. Both of them should be moderately cheap, 2 million or less, but they both want to pitch in the Southwest so it would be extremely questionable whether the Brewers could woo either one of them.
  8. I hate the concept of a salary cap. While a high payroll doesn't guarantee a playoff spot it does increase the margin of error for management. I do think there should be something done to attempt to create a situation where there are consequences for going over the luxury tax threshold, other than the owner spending more money. The first thing I would like to see is having any team over the luxury tax threshold be unable to receive supplemental picks from losing players to free agency. The would still be able to get the pick from the signing team but the team losing the player would not receive a supplemental pick from the league. For example if the Cubs sign Bobby Abreu they would still have to give the Yankee's their second round pick, but the Yankees would not receive the supplemental draft pick from the league. Also I would like to see there to be draft pick penalties for going over the salary cap. Have it set up where every $10 million over the luxury tax threshold you lose a draft pick have it start at round 10 and work it's way down. I don't want a salary cap but I do want consequences for spending absurd amounts of money. Draft pick compensation seems to be, to me, one of the most logical ways to attempt to even the playing field. If you spend tons of money on free agents then you are going to have a hard time developing your own prospects, and therefor trading away prospects for lower market stars. So a $200m+ payroll would provide a higher probability of short term success with some longterm penalties.
  9. I got a couple of books I can't wait to read. Nature's Blueprint: Supersymmetry and the Search for a Unified Theory of Matter and Force by Dan Hooper Moral Minds: How Nature Designed Our Universal Sense of Right and Wrong by Marc Hauser
  10. The Free Masons freak me out. Such a large organization with such a secretive upper level is just creepy. Destination Truth on SciFi Channel did an episode on Bigfoot awhile back. Look it up if your interested. It was unconclusive. Shocking, huh. If you love a good conspiracy theory, and I do as much as the next guy, Jim Maars has a bunch of books out that are entertaining, or earth shattering depending on what you are willing to believe. You can't formulate an honest opinion about any issue until you look at it from all angles, including the extreme.

  12. http://environment.about....health/a/red_meat_mad.htm http://www.detox.net.au/a...t-healthy-for-humans.html Eating meat kills you or makes you crazy. Now quite obviously, hopefully, you realize that I am simply trying to make a point. The initial poster made a point of trying to stir up controversy so I am doing the same. As a vegitarian I take a daily multivitamin with b12, shocking. Not only that but I only by cereal that is fortified with b12. Most vegitarians I know do take a vitamin supplement. Yes a poor unbalanced diet can have negative health effects, the same is true whether it is a vegan diet or a meat eaters diet. I also would argue that the percentage of vegitarians that eat a healthy well balanced diet is significantly higher than the percentage of meat eaters eating a healthy well balanced diet. This isn't an argument that I really want to get into here but I quite honestly couldn't just leave this thread without posting. Thanks, lets let this thread die now.
  13. What do you do when your teacher is borderline incompetent? I have a class Contemporary American Society, it's basically a Sociology class and the teacher is at best marginally competent. The class started off on a horrible not when during the normal go around the class introductions a kid said he just moved here from Vietnam. Then she proceeds to go around the room and ask every non white skinned student how long they have lived in the US and how long they have been speaking english. All of them have lived their entire lives in the US. I was shocked at her actions. Then more recently we were going through and classifying what a Liberal is and what a Conservative was. So people start naming off the standard things. Liberal is pro-choice, anti-death penalty etc. She then bust out with the comment, "I just don't understand how you can be for the murdering of babies, and against the murdering of viscous child murderers." I gave her a break and figured that she just slipped up and interjected her personal opinion, so all I did was say that is a complex issue and it isn't as cut and dried as that. She then 5 minutes later said the same thing and I went off on her. I won't get into what I said to keep things appropriate for this board. It isn't just these two things the class is just horrible. It is her making some stupid comment, me telling her why she is wrong. Her saying she doesn't have an argument to prove me wrong, but I just am. The best is she has started asking the class who they think is right me or her, and generally I get 75% of the students to side with me. It's disgusting that I am paying for this "education". On a related tangent in general i am disgusted with the educational standards at Fox Valley Technical College. The expected level of knowledge is on par with a normal 10th Grade education. Such the waste of money.

  15. So is it that buffet workers are better paid, and then less dependent on tips? Or is it that they make up the money in bulk by covering a larger amount of tables? Hopefully someone out there has worked as a buffet server before and can tell me.
  16. So what is the tipping etiquette at buffets? This is alway something that has puzzled me. I go to a bunch of buffets in the Appleton area, Hu Hott, Sai Ram, and Asian Garden and I have always wondered what proper tipping etiqutte was for places like that. Some of my friends don't tip at all which I think is rediculous, but I would agree that tipping on the same scale as at a standard restaurant isn't warrented. Generally I tip 15-20% at a buffet and 20-25% at a more conventional resaurant. Pizza guys sorry but I do take the delivery fee into consideration. I order from Papa Johns and they have a $1.90 delivery charge. I've basically split the difference with the driver and I reduced my standard tip from $4 and the change to $3 and the change.

  19. DHL has become a royal pain in....well you know where I was going with that. I have had the same cell phone for the last 4 years and it is finally starting to break down on me. I have to leave it plugged in because the battery won't hold a charge. Most likely I just need a new battery but it's an old phone. So I figure what the heck I will just renew my contract and get a nice shinny new phone. I ordered it and made sure that I would get in within 3-4 bussiness days because I hate being without my phone, eventhough I don't use it much I still like to have it. Well it has now been 8 bussiness days I contact AT&T they say it was shipped and give me the tracking information I head on over to DHL and they say it has been recieved. Ok fair enough it's just a mixup, but when I contact their online help desk the customer service was less that stellar and might in fact be considered abysmal. At first things were polite I explain my situation give them the requested information. They check with the local office and when they get back to me their response is that there is no possible way that the package hasn't been delivered, although they cannot provide any proof of that. I then begin to get annoyed and start asking them what avenue's I have to find a solution to this problem, their response was to pick up the package because it has to at my door. I will try and contact someone later but now I am contacting AT&T to see if they can help me, or at least hold off on the activation fee until I actually have the phone that I am being charged to activate. Ugh I hate foolishness like this.
  20. Perhaps a more realistic option would be to get people to pledge to donate X dollars to Sabathia's favorite charity if he sign's with Milwaukee. I know he, in the past made comments criticizing MLB for it's job at getting young black athletes invovled in baseball at a young age. So a charity promoting Little League Programs in Urban area's might be a charity he would be interested in. The problem wouldn't be getting people to pledge money, the problem would be getting people to actually donate money.
  21. If dead celebrities count then do cartoon characters count, if so I have always had such a crush on Velma from Scooby Doo. Velma might just be the perfect woman smart, witty, sexy.
  22. I am sorry but I need to share this crazy, crazy night at a Poison concert in Greenville. Let me preface this by saying I am not a big Poison fan but I do like some songs and I thought it would be a fun enough time. Poison started setting up and the craziness began. Up near the stage where we were a guy squeezing past drops his beer and proceeds to attempt to fight 5 girls my brother and I step in and force him on his way before the situation escaltes but he is doing throat slitting gestures to the girls when he gets by his friends. So we stay by them to make sure he behaves, and he does for a while. He comes back through and grabs my brothers, uhm male parts, and squeezes. So there I turn around to my brother and that guy face to face heading out to fight with a girls arm in between trying to break them up but really is just getting dragged along. We get them split up and the instigator is on his way. That part of the chaos is done. Then when Poison is playing a couple girls in front of us get up on their boyfriends shoulders and out of nowhere a girl comes up and just pulls on the back of the other girls jeans toppling them. Me and another guy keep them seperated until things calm down. Then a girl comes and runs and squeezes through and the next thing I know there is a girl being spun around by her hair. Then a couple more girls jump in, again me and another guy break them up and and keep this batch seperated. The night at the show was hilarious. I was fully expecting to get into a fight caused by crazy girls. Oh and as an awesome end to an awesome night I drop my brother off at his house and head home. At a stop light a guy in the car next to me get's my attention and I roll my window down, he proceeds to ask me if "I am looking to get any tail tonight, he knows some fun "party girls". Yeah does that really even happen in real life. Especially in Appleton, WI.
