  1. I'm Italian (and Puerto Rican), spoiled... Spoiled? Your boyfriend must be awesome. Mine's a not-so-clever riff on the rap group 2 Live Crew... also like it as a motto (add "-ers" on the end of it, and take out an "o")
  2. If you ask me, being duped twice by a shortstop without the ball over the span of a week tells me all I need to know about his baserunning instincts. I didn't feel like I had to go back and dissect his career on the basepaths to come to a different conclusion. Why not? If Craig Counsell homered in three straight games, do you know enough about his HR power? That doesn't include being doubled off several times recently, or being picked off by the catcher against STL or by Wandy Rodriguez against Houston. Baserunners get picked off, even good ones. Not to mention that 'the catcher for StL' that night, Yadier Molina is regarded as the best-throwing C in the league, and is probably the best in the game at the snap-throw. Don't get me wrong, he runs hard and is definitely aggressive with whatever he tries to do on the bases, but he makes too many mistakes to be classified as a great baserunner. I can respect that stance. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Corey Hart's instincts, like when to steal Hart's career SB success rate: 49/68 (72%) Weeks's: 74/87 (85%) Weeks just needs to learn to play within himself and pay a little more attention when out there on the base paths so he can avoid those rookie mistakes In general, that sentiment may be true, but Weeks clearly limits his SB attempts & utilizes his base-stealing instincts far better than Hart has to this point in their careers.
  3. MH, if McCalvy got the info here, shouldn't he have to credit you and/or BF.net? Or is it plausible that he just got the info from the club later in the day, and didn't necessarily even notice it here? Nice scoop on this one, and congrats to Jeremy! This is exciting... I did not think he'd fast-track so well (thus far)... just assumed an arm that powerful would have to hone the command/control.
  4. When I say intangibles, I mean things like leadership in the clubhouse, leadership in the community, charity events... Then Rickie meets all but one of your criteria that we can verify, and the last bit is your personal preference that he was more well-spoken... hard to hold that against someone. There are many posters on this board that don't use proper grammar or spelling, but I don't use that as a way to judge them.
  5. Sorry, twice. Does that somehow prove he's a bad baserunner? I think Weeks is a good one, just my own perspective, and that has little to do with his speed.
  6. The complaints weren't about lineup changes, but about using less than the best options. No one in those posts tries to use results as an indicator that the best option was actually played.
  7. That's awesome! I just thought it was, you know, a funny screen name.
  8. someone is presenting them as fact, as representation of true talent. Where do you encounter this?
  9. Being a superior athlete doesn't qualify Weeks as being a great basestealer/baserunner. How many times has he been doubled or picked off? No, it doesn't. But he still is vastly superior to Hardy. How many times has a middle infielder duped him from taking an extra base by simply acting like they had the ball? Once. This is a classic case of, 'Man, [event X] would never happen to another team/player!'
  10. Like I said, if you are OK with eyeballing career stats to get the sense of a player's talents than you are OK with at least some projection systems. Crew07, as I read your post(s), I thought that a lot of stuff you were describing/specifying lined up with projections. I personally don't even pretend to know how to calculate them or how to weigh certain stats in doing so. What's useful about projections *to me* is that it gives the fan/observer a sort of 'target range' on what to expect. That's all I can ask in a game as random as baseball.
  11. Part of what has to be considered in this is that (obviously) teams with better SP will need their RP less. I wonder what CC's impact has been. IMO Florida & St. Louis are the two that need to be looked at as 'in trouble'. And in that sense, moving Wainwright to the bullpen would really be a kind of lateral move. I'd rather see them move him to the 'pen, and given LaRussa's obsession with the bullpen having strict roles, I bet that's what they do.
  12. Ive got them at 88 as of now. Tied with the Mets and Cardinals for the Wild Card (depending on how each team plays today). Phillies and Cubs both 93 wins. Is this a guess, an educated guesstimate, or would you share how you arrived at this? I'm not baiting you... just curious.
  13. That said, a lot of these posts are ignoring defense and intangibles, something that Hardy clearly has the edge on. Defense, yes. Intangibles, no. Weeks is a far superior athlete &, in terms of success rate, is an elite basestealer
  14. Kiera Knightly was in Episode 1. She was the bodyguard. Kinda cool. Man, the makeup & CGI nowadays... http://www.georgettesworld.com/main/panaka.jpg Incredible! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Warwick Davis (Wicket in ROTJ) made a cameo as part of Jabba's yes-men in Ep. I during the pod race. I thought that was him. Concentrate...feel the Force flow. Yes. Good. Calm, yes. Through the Force, things you will see. "Through the Force, things you will see. Other places. The future...the past. Old friends long gone" OMG I CAN HAZ NEW BFF?1!??1!
  15. [Elizabeth Berkely]OMG I HATE YOU ALL! *runs off*[/berkely]
  16. OMG I HEART THIS THERAD! U GUYZ SUCK THO! AHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAA JK
  17. Turns out you aren't an idiot, obobo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Useless trivia, to be sure, but fascinating to a Lucas geek like me. The Force is strong with this one Great thread. I literally had no idea on any of the factoids/people you posted. I will now retreat in shame.
  19. In a rare, 'the universe might be exploding soon' kind of way, I think I agree with Al on all counts... She's no Judy Jetson, but she's ok. Now this... this was funny Rachel Ray is about my age, but she is a fine looking "mature" choice. That said, if you're going to take a Food Network personality, it's all about Giada. Oh my, yes. Very good choice. You gotta watch Giada on mute, that way you'll spend all your time wondering why so much cleavage is necessary to make a salad and hot dish. I don't know of, and can't possibly dream up any scenario in which cleavage is not necessary... let alone to make a salad and/or hot dish. much like the bat plays, being a babe is helpful to a career in TV. If she was a plain jane, all that experience in kitchens would likely be rendered useless. She might be a fine chef, but she wears the V-necks for a reason, and it's not to show me what restaurants she's been employed by. 'The bat plays' is proably the most accurate & funny way to explain why Giada DiLaurentis has a cooking show, and why Erin Andrews isn't working at Hooters. Do a Google image search for 'Giada DiLaurentis'... mine came up with *ONE* of the first 25 (first page) images having anything to do with her cooking show/profession. It'z all aboot the skillz!
  20. I guess these Brewers can win after all. Hooray v2.0! Nice to see Rickie drop in a monster game... I still believe in him big-time.
  21. Parra was acting against a team custom and being a baby about it. He had a couple bad innings and was pouting and was thinking of himself, not the team. He was thinking of himself only. Based on what? Parra slammed his jacket on the bench, and appeared headed towards it. You're literally the only person perpetuating the myth that Parra was sulking off to the dugout.
  22. Was listening to the postgame show on WSSP this afternoon and Sparky said that when they do their usual high fives after the game Parra and Prince skipped past eachother without giving fives and then continued giving fives after they were past eachother. Given the smack to Manny's face from Prince, that doesn't surprise me one bit. As crazy as it sounds, I actually think there may be a shred of merit to Cecil's claims that Prince needs to grow up.
  23. Hall's defense is better than Branyan's. I know it's a subjective stance, but I certainly don't agree.
  24. Branyan had been struggling a bit, but his line is still .281 .366 .667 1.033 line in 131 plate appearances against righties. It's inexcusable that Counsell starts 3/4 games at third when there's an option on the bench as good as Branyan is against righties. I, too, think there's something about Branyan that Yost loathes. The talk about Counsell's 'quality ABs' is utter nonsense imo. Branyan routinely goes up to the plate & works the pitcher deep into the count, with good strike zone discipline. So in that way, he's at worst equal to Counsell. Then when you add in the differential in power, the two shouldn't even be in the same discussion. Branyan's defense imo is vastly underrated by many fans. He's had a few hiccups, as every player does, but I've been impressed by Russell's D every bit as much as his bat. Counsell playing is one thing. Hitting 6th is another. But... if the 3B didn't bat 6th, the whole lineup would be confused & unable to perform! what did Hall do to get back on the bench? Wasn't he winning games a short while ago with HR off of righthanded pitchers He hit two late-game HRs. That's it. Even with that, he's still sucked royally against RHP, and thank goodness Ned has at least gone away from Hall v. RHP... even if it's to his 2nd-best option. Not to mention Hall's god-awful defense.
