  1. Yeah, it's supposed to have a retractable GLASS (!) roof. I can't wait 'til that one gets built.
  2. They changed their logo and uniforms and I was all, "ugh, those are ugly. I miss the green." But it seems to have really revitalized the club, eliminating the memories of all those years of losing in those Devil Ray unis. Psychology is an amazing thing. But isn't the revitalization more due to... Such nice young arms and good young hitters. The crazy thing to me is that new stadium in the works (earliest ETA 2012). That thing looks amazing. http://fredtopeka.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/57_cgi-ballpark-shot-_-low-sml.jpg

  4. This team does not give up and certianly plays hard to the last out and it has since Yost has come here. I respect your stance, Buc, but this is something I can't get too excited about. These guys are pros, and I don't think the hustle has much (if anything) to do with Ned. It's about the players. Having Yost for a manger sure didn't make Estrada hustle, and he wasn't 'sent packing' until his contract expired at the end of the season. I agree with you that I love the players' collective mindset, which does indeed appear to be a 'hustle, & fight 'til the very last out' mentality. I just don't think that has much to do with Yost (in either direction).
  5. I look at it the same way as I look at that stupid win probability chart that gets spit out during the course of a game thread Gee, what do you really think? I appreciate the work people put into those charts, since it helps me understand just what a rare feat it is to come back from a 4-run defecit... or whatever.
  6. They're nice to talk about, but they couldn't make the big leagues for a long time for a reason. That's crap. How you continue to ignore Joe Dillon's well-documented back injury makes zero sense. At this point I think it's intentional.
  7. Felix Pie shoppers, buy now before he rots away like Murton.
  8. Plus don't forget that a 362' power alley is one of the, if not the, shortest in MLB
  9. Richard Justice = moron We = > moron I'll take our opinions anytime, anywhere over those of a blowhard like this clown.
  10. Would 5 yrs. $45M be in the neighborhood? It'd be great to sign Hart for what (basically) we offered Lee.
  11. If you want to talk about walks, then you can't think very highly of Suppan; as "lucky" as you say McClung has been with his walks, Suppan has been even luckier. You're right; I think Suppan is a league-avg. type pitcher. I'm glad we have him, but he's expensive for what he brings. I also think Manny Parra is a better starter than Seth, fwiw. The trouble I see is that we are asked to accept 3 of 4 appearances as now 'the norm' or true talent, when Seth has turned in literally hundreds of innings of other work that doesn't match up with it. Like I said, I hope Seth can and will keep this up, so I don't know why you'd think I hate McClung. Because I'd prefer to see Villy?
  12. At the same time though has Fielder reached his ceiling already? Is 50 HRs a normal expectation? I see a ceiling as where a player projects to be most of their career and in that span hit career highs. Just depends on how we mean "ceiling" I guess. No, 50 HR isn't what I expect from Fielder. I think he will give you 30-60 HR in any given full season until his decline. I don't know if Prince will ever necessarily hit 50 or more again (I think he will), but if his ceiling is 50 HR instead of > 50, I don't think it'd be a bad thing. I don't know if I could see Hart hitting 50 in a season, but it wouldn't shock me since Sexson got close. I agree that Hart is likely to age better, though.
  13. In terms of reaching ceiling I'm speaking about the future projections. I take 'a guy's ceiling' to mean his peak performance output, not a career resume. In other words, highest point he may reach (like, say, '50 HR in a season'), as opposed to best cumulative 'record' or stats. Glad that you clarified http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. So in theory could the Brewers incorporate a series of trapdoors or bear traps in the outfield? Moats, trapdoors, drawbridges, pit traps... just make it the medieval dungeon outfield presented by White Castle! Btw, Citizens Bank Park is the Phillies' new digs.
  15. The young guys that all came up together (Fielder, Weeks, Hart) tend to stick together, pitchers traditionally keep to themselves, and the veteran position players like Branyan and Cameron tend to gravitate together. I can recall Fielder & Cameron chatting it up quite a bit, the Kapler 'earplugs' jab at Prince... I can't say that I can recall seeing Branyan & Cameron sitting together too much, but am not saying they never do. There doesn't appear to be any more clique-iness than other MLB squads, at least to this outside observer. I second SF's observations on Benny. Though obviously I don't have any clubhouse access, so I have no idea of the 'behind the scenes' look.
  16. Walking Jones with one man on to pitch to Teixeira with two men on... LOU for Mgr. of the YEAR!
  17. Come on Bravos! You owe Milwaukee!
  18. The Braves had the bases juiced in the 7th, & the Cubs escaped. The Braves had runners on the corners in the 8th, & the Cubs escaped. Honestly, I know the luck will even itself out as the season drags on, but MAN! This is frustrating. That's gonna be one heckuva streak of bad luck to even this crap out.
  19. Don't know what discussion can go on from here, but I just wanted everyone to know how great of a man and player Damian really is. Damian, we can all tell you're just posting here pretending to be a HS kid. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif That's pretty cool to experience. I'd imagine your team's catchers would want to talk with him as much as possible.

  21. I don't think he's saying 'should', just that most umps would have called Cam out on that second pickoff play. I was surprised Cam didn't get called out there, personally... even after seeing the replays.
  22. I think it more has to do with the rapport a well-liked guy like Berkman likely has with the umps. One thing I've noticed in watching around the league is how few players actually take time to try & trade some laughs with the umps. I bet the guys that actually care about the umps beyond, 'HEY! YOU MESSED UP THAT CALL!' tend to get what fans could take as preferential treatment. I thought Campos handled Berkman's reaction well, considering that the play was basically a 50/50 call (looked on replay to be a 'tie goes to the runner' situation -- appeared that the glove hit Cam's hand right as his hand hit 1B), and what came before it. Just my thoughts, certainly not necessarily the 'right' view.
  23. What I find hilarious is that the park itself gets so much vitriolic comment. Yes, it does give up a higher than average number of HRs, but overall it's been playing as a pretty neutral park or even a pitchers park. So the notion that it's like the pre-humidor Coors Field is just silly. The problem I have with it is both that it cheapens the HR, & how it cheapens the HR. Even if it played further away from 'neutral', I'd still have a beef on this point. For every bit that a 318' pop-up shouldn't be a HR, imho there's no way blasting a ball over 400' should be anything less than a HR to such a relatively large portion of the field.
  24. Ooohhh, sherrrr. I git yooou giize.
  25. It should mean his job? Can you expand on that?
