  1. I'd have a tough time giving up Lawrie and Escobar both in the same deal. I would think the Jays would be big time interested in Lawrie. Maybe Lowrie, Salome, Parra and a another top 20ish prospect would get this done. I wouldn't go any higher than that.
  2. I don't have a problem at all with it. It seems whenever Braun "comments" to the press, the team goes on a tear.
  3. Gerut had a nice year last year, I'd take him over Chris Duffy any day. I wish Macha would give him more regular playing time, because it would be hard for anyone to get going with the amount of at bats he's gotten (32 in 6 weeks). It seems almost like he's morphed into the new Gwynn for the Brewers..... limited at bats, and derided by fans.
  4. Villanueva is basically a younger Drew Gooden in my opinion. Gooden is a free agent and would come much cheaper. If they are serious about clearing cap space, they can't overpay on long term deals for guys like Villlanueva.
  5. Villanueva would be a good role player for a championship calibre team. He's not good enough to even be a starter on a playoff team in my opinion.
  6. I'm pulling for Gwynn. I gotta say it would be funny if board doormat Gwynn turns out better than board sweetheart David DeJesus.
  7. For some reason, I'm thinking that the County Stadium flooding was in '86. Not sure why that is sticking in my head.
  8. That's for sure. I think the Brewers and their fans were the same way about Parra, though that has probably changed recently. I think a trade swapping Parra for Sanchez would be interesting. The more I look at it, they are basically the same guy. People forget that Parra is as old as he is for basically being a second year pitcher, and Sanchez is the same age (thought that he would be younger). Maybe this would be a good change of scenery deal that could benefit both teams. I want no part of Padilla. I'd rather take a chance with McClung or anybody else from the minors. The Brewers acquiring Padilla for their stretch run as the hired gun would be tantamount to them picking up Jerry Reuss in '89.
  9. As we've pointed out before, no team other than the Cardinals has truly classy fans.
  10. There has always been, in my opinion, an unwarranted amount of man-love for this guy on this site considering that he's never really done anything. That said, I probably would trade Parra for him as I'm convinced that he's tremendously overrated here as well, and frankly I'm sick of him.
  11. No AC. Next thing you know, they will start closing the game when the temperature hits 85 to satisfy "casual fans" as I said before, that roof should be open if it is not raining as long as the temperature is over 50 degrees or so. I'm tired of going to games in April when it is sunny and low 60's and the roof is closed. Call me a purist, but baseball is meant to be played outside.
  12. Let's face it. Nobody would have a clue who this guy was, or care, if he hadn't been 'Screech'. If he wants to pursue a performing career, he shouldn't take umbrage to the fact that's what he's known for, he should embrace it. He's obviously using his "infamy" to get his foot in the door in both comedy and/or music. By the way, I've also heard that he is a first class tool. I'd be interested in hearing more from the guy who's brother in law hauled away his junk. Ironically enough, I actually played blackjack with Lisa Turtle's cousin in Las Vegas last year. Not sure how the whole topic came up, but apparently she became a born again christian, and is heavily involved in some religious "organization".
  13. If I had to bet, this kid will probably either never make (at all) or never be a good player in the majors. He is an early bloomer with media hype behind him. There have been lots of guys like this and most of them flame out between puberty and the point everyone catches up to them with puberty.
  14. How about closing it when it rains and leaving it open otherwise? Just another reason Miller Park is no County Stadium.
  15. I agree that Metra is the way to go. Hope you like crowds. This thing makes Summerfest look like a Marlins game.
  16. Last I knew, Screech (Dustin Diamond) was living in Port Washington for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure at this point he will do anything for a buck.
  17. 2 weeks is perfectly acceptable. There's no way that any employer should expect more than that unless you are in a management position or in some type of project contract work.
  18. Get this done. It's time to get the Padres back for the Sheffield and Vaughn trades.
  19. To be fair, this stretch of Suppan pitching well is a "small sample" as well. As I've said before, I hope I'm wrong and this keeps going.
  20. For the money that these players and teams make off the fans, I must say that I'm surprised how they try to lowball people for stuff like this. A signed bat (likely game unused) from this Coghlan character that might fetch $50 on eBay? You can't tell me that they couldn't part with a Ramirez bat, a team signed ball, and tickets- none of which the team had more than a hundred dollars or so invested in. None of those requests are unreasonable in my mind. He wouldn't have gotten the ball from me unless I got what I wanted. They soak the fans every chance they get, why is it wrong for a fan to soak them for a change? This guy likely wouldn't have given HY the time of the day, if he didn't have something he wanted, now I'm supposed to feel bad for him because he didn't get the ball handed right over to him without a negotiation (on the road none the less)? Please...
  21. It was better when it was on the County Stadium "jumbotron".
  22. All I can say after watching him tonight is that I hope he is not used in close games. He should be strictly a mop up guy at this point.
  23. I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm going to say Suppan has a similar season to Glendon Rusch's 2003: 1-12 6.42 ERA, 1.751 WHIP Rusch got 19 starts on a horrible team. This year's team should be much better, so there should be increased pressure to stop running Suppan out there, but I think it will be counteracted a bit by what they are paying him. I'm going to say Suppan gets 9 starts before he gets "hurt".
  24. Absolutely not. I don't think that Cubs fans attending Friday's game really know what they are getting themselves into. Hopefully, lots of them have bad experiences and decide to never come back to Miller Park.
  25. My guess is that he gets "injured" again, a-la last year, in mid May or so. I'm sure it will be something that's "been bothering him since spring training".
