  1. Good post. Sums it up pretty well for me. Only quibble is the K-Rod part. I never wanted that piece of garbage on this team, let alone 3 different times. I hated rooting for him from the word go. At this point, I think of Williams as a good person who did something stupid, whereas K-Rod (along with Chapman and many others) are bad people who were cheered on because of their physical talents. Unless something else comes out of this, and I don't think it will, I will gladly cheer for Williams again. I just hope he can recover quickly and completely. Agree fully.
  2. Lol the offense is fine. Could use some help against lefties but fine overall.
  3. I know I should at least be a little worried. But I'm not. Smells like a sweep to me.

  5. It shouldn't annoy you; in terms of Wins Above Replacement Wheeler was the most valuable pitcher in the NL in 2021. As such, he should win the pitching award. Sure, Wheeler is behind Burnes and Scherzer in some of the "counting stats" but he also faced hundreds of more batters this year than either of the other two. Maybe Wheeler loses votes for being on a non-playoff team but that speaks nothing to the quality performance he put up in 2021 which is what the award should be based upon. (FWIW, Zach Wheeler leads all players in the NL in WAR regardless of position). The 'stache already did the heavy lifting, but Wheeler does not deserve the Cy Young. Like at all.
  6. You can't make this crap up. Unbelievable. Ashby and Houser will have to take on higher leverage roles.
  7. Wheeler would annoy me. He's pretty clearly behind the other 2 in terms of quality. 25% more quantity doesn't make up for it.
  8. Very good post. Sums up my feelings as well.
  9. This is where the magic number thread gets really fun.
  10. It is getting a little back of my mind annoying even though I know this will be wrapped up any day. The Cardinals can't really win 22 in a row, right? Sure. And they'll still lose the division.
  11. Meh. Just a matter of time.
  12. What am I missing here? The stats linked in the original post show batters are 24 of 95, or .252. However, the stats at the bottom show a batting average of .307. The on-base pct of .449 seems impossible based on that. Add in walks and they are 33/104, for a .318 average. Freddy would have had to hit about 30 or 40 of them to get to .449, right? If I am making some colossally stupid error, I apologize in advance. But the numbers would suggest a OPS closer to .790 than .918. Freddy's last start against STL was his first after coming off the IL. 2IP, 4 runs. Freddy's other start against the Cardinals this year, he went 7 IP with 1 hit, 1 BB, and 8 Ks. That makes me feel a lot better about tonight. Those numbers have been wrong for a while. Like most of the year I think.
  13. No chance. We could go 1-6 in those games and I still wouldn't be worried. I wouldn't be worried about the Cardinals. I would be worried about how poorly we are playing heading in October. Wait, is this theoretical or you actually talking about how poorly they're playing now? Because if it's the latter..........I don't really now what to say. I'm hoping (and assuming) it's the former.
  14. "Utility Man" also has a different meaning in this organization than it does in others (or has in the past).
  15. Nobody is guaranteed a loss. The number is not affected by this. If the cardinals play the Padres in a game, One will lose, that’s a guarantee Of course, but there's no guarantee either team loses a game in the series, therefore no effect on the magic number. If the Padres or Cardinals sweep the number is still 5 on the sweeping team.

  17. Well hopefully we're at 3 later.
  18. Magic number is still 5 over St Louis isn't it?
  19. That article is an abomination. Yeah, I'm sure the story has been told after an unprecedented 60 game season and 45 games of the next one. Completely asinine and I hope that "writer" feels as stupid as he should. I wonder what handle David Gaspar uses on this forum? I saw plenty of posts earlier this season that hit on a bunch of his "points". Clickbaity waste of time to read, though. That exact thought passed through my head lol.

  21. Reds and Cardinals only play 3 times each before Friday. The would both have to get swept along with the Brewers winning both games. Extremely unlikely to have the correct result in 8 different games.
