  1. what's next? fancy little umbrellas in every beer? Lite beer is girly enough.
  2. that's really too bad. sounds like a career-ender. now i just hope all the surgeries don't start to permanently affect him when he's 40 or 50, that he'll always have full range of motion.
  3. yeah, tell me about it. i'm in North Carolina and am dying to taste some sweet, sweet Capital Brewery and New Glarus again, but can't get it shipped.
  4. from what you told us, it sounds like you made the right decision. all the best at the new place.
  5. a baseball card shop had opened in Madison a long time ago and I won the raffle giving away a 1977 baseball card set. Jim Gantner's Rookie Card!!!!!!
  6. seems a wash to me, too. which one's usually the better second-half player?
  7. i also thought downtime would be nice, I have a lot at my job. It was nice for the first few months but now I'm just running out of ideas to fill the time and now I wish I just had harder things to do and ways to challenge myself. I guess I define "freedom" as the option of choice at a job, and boredom is more like something thrust on you and not a condition somebody would choose to be in. maybe you have your opinion already made and just haven't reached the point you're ready to vocalize a final decision. At the least, read through your comments on this thread. Have you described your current job and coworkers positively or negatively? the new job? if you've described one vs. the other in a much more positive light then maybe that's the way you really want to head.
  8. a good closer for three months and we only lose Obermueller for it? it's nothing special, but it doesn't so horrible as to be heckle-worthy, anyway. however...maybe go to the game early with a ball and a sharpie. As he walks toward you to sign, tell him you're a huge Brewers fan and ask him if he'd take the ball over to Jose Hernandez and get his autograph for you.
  9. from the pros and cons you mentioned, you listed a lot more pros to the new job than the old one. and like Braun'sBoyfriend mentioned, the pro to your current job is that you don't have that much work to do? If you listed your ideal job, I can't imagine lots of downtime would honestly make your list. Being busy is ultimately more rewarding and satisfying. A great work atmosphere is very valuable, though. Granted, you can't automatically assume the new place would necessarily be worse. Does your friend know anything about the employees there and could say something about them?
  10. glad that was all that happened. guess it'll be pretty hard to sleep the next few nights. do you have a motion light hooked up?
  11. if Kobe refused to play for Charlotte, I'd figure the Bucks would be of even less interest, which is fine by me. Los Angeles is still the perfect place for Kobe to play. He gets all the attention he wants and they are happy with him throwing up 40 shots a game.
  12. yeah. that robot isn't going anywhere at all. yeah, probably doesn't go anywhere over carpet, either. stupid shiny robot.
  13. it'll be just like Brewers games, you call somebody on their cell phone and tell them to wave because everybody's looking.
  14. would somebody here PLEASE buy 30 of those robots so we can finally move on to something good.
  15. well, somebody somewhere is buying one of those robots. And about a week from now, kids across America will be asking "What? THIS is my birthday present??"
  16. i'm thinking this remote control robot might take longer then the MP3 player. then again, they probably had a warehouse full of those mp3's.
  17. i agree with that assessment for the most part. if you look at one quality start it never seems that terrific. though i value the statistic if it's in a collection, as a measure of a pitcher's consistency, like "20 of his 22 starts have been quality starts." that at the most the pitcher isn't prone to a lot of blowups.
  18. ah, I figured out what happened. I'd saved the photo to my desktop because I had to size it down, so I was typing in the location of the photo and not the Web address, and that's why nothing was saving. Edit: yep. when I do it the right way, everything's fine. I'll delete the photo, though, because it's beyond 60x60.
  19. when i put in the location of my avatar picture and hit save, nothing saved. do you have to be a subscriber to ezboard to get one?
  20. if I were an opposing GM, Yo would be the first guy I asked about once playoff-trading begins. When Milwaukee inquired to the Expos about Gary Bennett, Prince Fielder was the guy they demanded, so no reason anything would be different about Yo. Sure glad the Crew kept Fielder, though.
  21. Because if Sheets goes 8 IP with 9 ks and 1 ER and we lose 1-0, he isnt an ace. what if Sheets gives up 8 runs in 5 innings but we win 10-8?
  22. didn't a lot of us say just this when Sheets beat the Phillies to end a losing streak? it's one thing to expect your ace pitcher to be consistent (which Sheets has done), but another to say that he always has to get the win to end a streak. dude's not superman. And if those are the stipulations to be an ace, than Santana is probably baseball's only one. and how come we can hold Sheets to this standard, but nobody says "Prince Fielder is our best hitter, so he better go 3-4 with a home run to end this losing streak"?
  23. Last year the Mets put a "Know your place, Rook" note in Milledge's locker after all his showboating. Melvin has worked hard to draft/sign quality guys, so I think we'd be losing a lot by trading one of our best clubhouse guys and team players for the "me first" Milledge. Plus I'd imagine a player like Milledge loves the spotlight and would bolt Milwaukee to a big market as soon as possible.
  24. if this one was fixed, then it stands that past ones have been fixed. and if so, nobody would have ever given the mini-market Bucks the #1 pick.
  25. he wouldn't be here to replace Dessens, so i can't really figure who he should replace in the bullpen. Spurling is getting a little better and will be cheaper.
