  1. My mother went from Special Ed full-time to 32 hours in the library and loved that move. Not much in the paycheck but kept the benefits.
  2. I've always thought whatever sport would be better off where the 1 Seed gets to choose which opponent it plays in the round, and then #2 chooses, etc. It would build better rivalries.
  3. Packers asking price isn't unreasonable at all. Keep the 1st as guaranteed and send a 4th if Rodgers doesn't play for the Jets the following year. Jets are a SB-contending team with Rodgers next year, so it's not a big ask on the Packers' end even for one go-for-it year out of NY. The Russel Wilson comparison is silly. Denver paid that in part because they knew they'd be getting another 5-6 years out of him. The Jets are treating it as if they're trading for Charlie Batch or Jacoby Brisette and not getting a 4x MVP. Agreed that the 90% retired stuff is a cop-out--can you expect anything else out of a 39 y/o QB? Packers are right to hold firm here. If the Jets won't give that up for Rodgers they sure would never give up what it would take to get Lamar Jackson and they sure can't go into next season with Zach Wilson as their starter and punt on what would be a playoff season. And with Jets fans dreaming of Rodgers for a while now I'd only imagine the longer this goes the louder Jets fans will get for this not getting done.
  4. A lot of us here are getting older or already there, so I thought maybe there might be an interest in a retirement-related thread. Unless something bad happens, I'm out at 55. Belize is still my targeted retirement destination because it's a little cheaper with no capital gains taxes. Odd to say but my only hesitation with it is the place kinda doesn't have a golf course. Not that golf is my life or anything, but I see it as a great means of keeping busy and getting exercise. I hesitate at other countries only because if English isn't the primary language I think it would become really difficult to acclimate.
  5. Sold out yesterday for a +22% and my first profits in almost two years. Then this morning bought back in because it was still in the green when I sold, but quickly realized that probably wasn't a good idea and got back out.
  6. I think I'd rather play Philadelphia than Cleveland.
  7. Last night came across a channel which does workouts specifically for golfers and it always makes me feel sad when someone has a high-quality channel but barely gets any views.
  8. Youtube is my tv, so this sounds fun and may find me some new channels to watch. But here's a few of mine: Neebs Gaming: Obviously a gaming channel. Their supercut on Subnautica is one of their best. Charisma on Command: A relationships channel with stuff like how to tell better stories, how to deal with bullies, how to be more engaging in a conversation, etc. In the mold of PUA advice though more broad. Cross Examined: Christian apologetics. Real Men Real Style: Men's dressing channel from a guy out of the Stevens Point area. That Chapter: True crime. The People: What life is like in some of the worst places in the world. Personal betterment collection: Far From Average, Word to the Wise, FightMediocrity, Better Than Yesterday, Academy of Ideas.
  9. Jets fans may think they have all the leverage, but the alternative is another mediocre season and an unhappy locker room with Wilson as the starter compared to being Superbowl contenders. On top of that if the Packers forego this year's draft picks, Rodgers sure becomes cheaper to trade after July 1. Feels like we should be getting a bump in value for trading him now as opposed to waiting, and a 2nd+conditional doesn't seem like very much. Wasn't it that we can't afford Yosh Nijman? If they wanted an OL, wouldn't he make for a good addition to the trade in order to get their first-rounder?
  10. My cat has dandruff and bumps on its back, maybe a weight thing. Skipping golfing today to go to the vet, but it absolutely hates the carrier and will tear you up to not get in it. Last time I actually got it there it took three vet assistants to get it back in.
  11. Your comment is funnier when you remove the context. Same as my brother, identical twins and the sibling two years older.
  12. Western Montana and Northern Idaho is the most beautiful area of the country I've ever been to not including Alaska. So I guess that means second-most. Or Alaska doesn't count.
  13. Finished putting together my workout routine, which of course is absolutely a work-related activity and therefore no problem to use the printer and laminator at work to put together. An entire day is dedicated to stretches. After years of recognizing I lean forward when I walk, I believe it's called anterior pelvic tilt. Basically, your hips point down instead of flat. Threw in some fixes for forward head lean while I was at it. Next is the hard part.......doing it on the regular.
  14. Lamar Jackson also turned down 3-years at $44M/year fully guaranteed. Jets better be ready to pony up $46/year if they're going to trade for him, at least. Meanwhile Rodgers will count $15M against the Jets' cap and they can prorate the remainder over four years. And maybe the Jets just have a philosophy where they don't want the QB to take up that much of the cap space.
  15. If it goes on long enough Rodgers will start chirping about MLF and Murphy and talking about broken promises and so forth. If he were in a GB uniform again he'd only divide the whole locker room plus as soon as Love has a bad game the fans would be in an uproar. Rodgers back in GB for the sake of spite just isn't any realistic option at all.
  16. It had been noted that there was a big meeting between Rodgers and the Packers right after the regular season ended. So it's surprising Rodgers would have been taken aback that the team was exploring trades. What the heck else would they have talked about at the initial meeting? Plus it only makes sense the Jets would want old Packer guys regardless of Rodgers just for the sake of having guys Hackett is comfortable coaching and fit his scheme.
  17. What most amazing with all of this is through page after page of Packers discussion, this may very well be the first Love-pun that's been made (at least to my recollection).
  18. How much leverage do the Packers even have? What's to keep the Jets from saying "We'll give you a 7th rounder and you'll like it"? Rodgers can't be suddenly traded anywhere else or he'll threaten retirement as well as make the Packers' front office look awful if he wanted to. Pre-announcement the Packers could have had wiggle room by telling the Jets that Rodgers was fine going to the Raiders, too, so pony up the draft picks. But now it seems like the the only alternative is he holds out until he's traded. Or I guess maybe the holdup is the Packers would certainly prefer a post-June 1 trade to save themselves some money.
  19. Rodgers has an odd way of being somewhat polarizing to both sides, from not getting a Corona shot to doing hippie stuff. But that most all of the negativity toward him really only started up last year I just chalk up to fans preparing themselves for him to leave. Like when you first break up with a girl, all of a sudden she's actually the W-- of Babylon, but you're really only saying it to make it easier. I'm excited to see Love play and I think he'll be a decent QB going forward. He's got some accuracy issues but otherwise makes the right reads, goes through his progressions and isn't scared in the pocket. Been a good while since we've had the excitement of wondering what a new QB can do.
  20. But since it cost us a first-rounder to get Rodgers in the first place, if we only get a first-rounder back in return, than we wouldn't have profited at all from the investment.
  21. Well, the Jets could always trade for Lamar Jackson.
  22. I recognize the need for a safety but don't understand the desire for one in the 1st. It's the offense that's the bigger issue. Either Rodgers needs another playmaker for a last SB run or Love needs another receiver to develop with him. Safety just seems like a 2nd or even 3rd round issue.
  23. Nah, it'd be like drafting Zach Greinke. Fans would love him. Sit him down with your PR lady and work out how to make his personality seem quirky and weird to the fans. Though it's seeming like he'll be the last of the tier-1 QBs taken. Apparently the guy from Florida looked great, so it'll be curious what teams think of such a high ceiling but also needing to sit maybe two seasons.
  24. Makes me think there's an episode of "Adrian Monk plays in the NFL" which was sorely missing from the series. I presume at some point during camp one of his teammates is going to shove milk at him just to see how he reacts.
  25. I'd imagine agents must really bang their heads against a wall when one quick, stupid decision suddenly costs their client a couple million bucks by getting knocked down in the draft like he'll be.
