  1. I'd take the Bears if it's a pick'em as well as the under, though I was only ever a break-even sports gambler. Does Twitch show the video of the game or is it more like the Tom Grossi stream where he calls the game but you don't see anything? And Amazon Prime is $15/mo??? I really should check what I'm paying for that. I only have it for two-day shipping (which still takes 7-10 days) and I thought you got free two-day as long as you ordered more than $35 of stuff at once, which is easy enough to do.
  2. What if Tune gets hurt? Does Bo Melton play QB, too?
  3. Maybe that'd be for the best. Some way to divide the kids who want to get an education and maybe play some football, too, and the ones who just want to play football. CBS had an article up the other day about how much each position cost to buy a player from the portal. "Oh, if you want a good offensive lineman, that'll cost you $600,000" said so casually by the agents.
  4. It does seem like winning in the playoffs has a lot more to do with coach preparation and proper strategy than merely having the better group of players. Maybe Ben Johnson is that kind of coach.
  5. Dog-off-leash people are far and away the worst people to deal with.
  6. Forgot to watch the game on Saturday because it was Saturday. Having to keep account of what day they play feels like a chore. It's sad we're already in offseason mode. You're probably right about Willis being a backup yet. If teams thought he were more, he'd probably have been traded last offseason. And a one-year deal makes a lot of sense for him. Land at the best offense he can get and maybe he gets middling-starter money the following year. If the Packers cut Gary it seems they've got no real replacement. Wouldn't it end up being a decision to cut Gary and try to re-sign Enegbare, or just keep Gary for another year? And in that case wouldn't it be way cheaper to just keep Gary? I don't get the impression they're eager to give LVN a lot of snaps. Maybe a little out of the box but would McKinney be a trade candidate in the offseason? His replacement is already here. Maybe a good way to shore up CB or OL? But would teams really have an interest in giving up much for a safety?
  7. He makes sense for a lot of teams. Shallow QB class out there, too. Plus Daniel Jones only increased the market for second-chance QBs. Add in the newer strategy of "Let's first build the team, then get a QB" and I suspect Willis can find a team where he gets 2-3 seasons to start as a bridge or I guess that tiny chance he turns out to be Sam Darnold. Willis' deep ball ability makes sense for the Bengals, too, if they trade Burrow. But he'll be competing with Kyler Murray, who I presume will get cut and not traded (with a bigger cap hit than even Russel Wilson). And I think Carolina has to decide on Bryce Young's 5th year option this offseason, too.
  8. From what I hear, they don't focus much on it. Your tiny schools still will, but the bigger schools will focus most of their efforts on transfer-pool scouting and poaching players from those smaller schools. High school is like your AA league and the Middle Tennessee States of the world the AAA. You know, kinda like the Brewers are the AAA team of the Dodgers and the Yankees.
  9. Packers have an uncanny ability to never really be better than any team they play.
  10. Holmgren, too. The new president doesn't change this, it's established Packers philosophy and not unique to the team. Go until it's painfully obvious. Ideally your GM has the security to make long-term moves instead of just win-now ones, and it's a desirable place for top HC candidates when you finally do have an opening. Ben Johnson didn't go to the Jets for good reason and it wasn't the quarterback. Maybe I'm wrong, but my guess is MlF gets his extension and sees more than just one more year. Granted, I was typing "I think Daboll stays" right as he was walking out the door, too. No reason 9 or 10 wins is some automatic job security. That's kinda baseline for the talent the team has had most of the season. There's "make bad teams good" coaches and there's "Win the big game" coaches, and MlF is in that first camp. Not a bad coach in the slightest, but a bad coach for this particular team.
  11. The Giannis "will he or won't he" drama is quickly feeling like late-career Brett Favre. At some point I'll start hoping he gets traded just to be over it. Nor can any team play Finals-or-burst every season for 15 years without eventually losing all your draft picks and trading away every ounce of depth you have....oh wait. I would think the offseason would be a better time to finally bite the bullet with more teams seemingly in contention, draft orders getting flushed out and teams probably better able to navigate the luxury tax. Agreed it wouldn't be a worry about being lowballed. Not like other teams are unaware of what's going on, nor do you lowball for a clearcut HOF player still in his prime. Sadly the best trade for the Bucks would be to try and get some of their picks back. Interesting the "tear it all down" strategy isn't some sure thing. OKC does it and they get maybe the best single-season team to have ever played. Utah does it and they're 10-16. But hopefully you all hid some nuts away because we're bound for a loooooong dry spell.
  12. Yeah, you have to say it as if you have a mouthful of food.
  13. Hafley is probably a HC somewhere next year. Do you boot MLF just for the sake of promoting Hafley and being able to keep him?
  14. I got Hulu mostly to finally see the last couple seasons of What We Do In The Shadows. The last season probably didn't need to happen but the movie and the show were both great. Really terrific concept: Well what do vampires do when they're not killing people but just hanging out? Guess I'll see if Hulu carries DMV or just continue with the ___That Built America series.
  15. Great recommendation. I'm now addicted to this guy's channel. It's great. I love learning the most efficient/effective way of cleaning stuff. I've since picked up one of those drill brushes to do the shower with (haven't tried it out yet) and may also try to clean my oven for the first time. Plus he doesn't really use bleach much at all, and that stuff makes me nervous now that I've seen how little of it you need to ruin clothes.
  16. Hoping for a little rally with this QE (probably) starting soon, but am probably out shortly after that and will just have to eat my losses. This whole cycle has been just awful.
  17. And wasn't Gary double-teamed about 22% of the time last year? Safe to figure he's not this year, so "as good as last year" doesn't cut it.
  18. I never said it as a kid but have only recently started using it. Think I've latched onto it since it's somewhat-uniquely Wisconsin. Few years ago went back home and had a visit with an uncle who had a very northern-WI accent. Don't think I really noticed it until then and had already been living out of WI. Really liked the accent and was kinda sad I didn't have it.
  19. My co-workers are giving me crap for pronouncing "milk" more like melk. They say I'm wrong but I tell them I come from the land of melk and therefore I'm the expert and I'm right. The harder i sound just seems off and weird and wrong, kinda like how you know someone isn't from Wisconsin if they pronounce the il in Milwaukee instead of with an uh.
  20. But this is Green Bay, which means everyone will realize the coaching staff sucks but wait another four years to do anything about it.
  21. Boy my timing couldn't have been better on that prediction.
  22. My guess is he keeps his job next year. Dart is clearly the franchise guy and maybe you don't mess with that by bringing in another coach. Nabers alone changes that offense, and you get a big boost with a top WR/CB/S in the coming draft. Giants should be a good team next year.
  23. For the first time in about forever, my aquarium is (basically) algae-free. Been feeding my fish way less (maybe not enough) and I suspect I was adding too much of that water de-chlorinator and that was contributing. Added a second filter and recently learned there's a correct way to stack filter media in a canister. Also added a few cups of water from a nearby stream to add some microscopic buggers.
  24. Ah you're right. Guess I was thinking $25 when it's $20.
  25. I did the tape-delay on NFL+ last year and liked that, too. I often have to work Sundays and miss the game. And I live outside WI so I don't get people randomly saying "Too bad about Kraft" and such to spoil things. I used to have a "totally legal" stream which did the same thing but they got shut down. I'd pay for NFL+ if they ever returned to Packers-only live/tape options. Zero desire to watch any other game especially because the NFL youtube channel shows 15-minute highlights of every game shortly after they finish airing and I'd rather see those. But man, illegal streams were only slightly more inconvenient than what streaming services used to be, and that was enough people would pay $7 for. But tack on all this new nonsense and there's every reason to just go back to illegal streams again. I'd be tempted to pick up Hulu but $25/mo is just nuts. My only streaming service is Youtube Premium and any ad breaks elsewhere have become intolerable for me. I don't feel like I'm really missing out on anything from not seeing any modern TV shows. I have no idea what "Winter is coming" means but I still get by.
