  1. Apparently the Bucks are going to be putting in a solid FA offer for Joakim Noah. The former DPOY has had injury issues, is on the other side of the age slope, and looks to be regressing. But maybe some of it is also from playing on the Bulls, who I've read can be rough on injured/battered players. A short-term deal would be awesome, and a one-year + option seems to be what everyone wants with this cap boost coming up. All in all I'm satisfied with Maker. Everyone available at 10 had some big negatives, and Thon certainly has his. But his ceiling is probably highest, and at that coveted stretch 4 position. Maker also fits that Bucks mold of being gangly and taller than his position typically calls for. If Maker pans out, the Bucks would have to bring the oddest matchup issues of any team in the League.
  2. Playing video games online greets you with all expert-level players and I'm the opposite of that.
  3. Tried the wood chunks this time instead of the chips. WAY better. Had to put new wood in significantly less often and probably used less wood overall, too. I'm curious. I don't have a temperature control on the top of my smoker. It has a small door on the side and only one small hole for the ash to fall out. Would it be wise to drill a few more holes in the coal pan to encourage more ash to fall out during cooking and increase airflow? On two tries I've used a fair amount of charcoal, about what I'd use for a regular grill, and the temperature doesn't really get that high. If I ever want to do a brisket or a pork roast I'll never get that crust without a higher temp.
  4. Thanks all! Memorial Weekend went well. We had rain for two days, so we had light crowds. No assaults, drownings, or anything particularly big. I had a few encounters for basic stuff and they went well.
  5. I just started up my first attempt at smoking with a 2# shoulder roast. I have some fish in the freezer I may put on there later. I can definitely see where chunk wood is better than chips. The chips burn up pretty quickly, so I'm having to add them really often. Edit: Holy cow the first attempt came out awesome! Smoked it for about four hours. I never would have realized just how much smoke flavor came through in the meat. Time for the frozen fish just to see what happens. Then some chicken breasts.
  6. Is the top rack just for water so it steams and you throw the soaked wood chips directly on the charcoal, or do you put the wood chips in the top water basket? I can't do my first smoking today. I have to go bowling with the co-workers later.
  7. This is all great. I bought a pork tenderloin specifically to try out the smoker. I have my charcoal and I'll soak the hickory chips. Finish off on the grill and I bet it's going to be awesome.
  8. A co-worker can't get a cable run to his house. And because it's just the two of them, unlimited phone data to make a hotspot is too pricey, and he said Dish Network to do internet by satellite wants you to add the 125-whatever channel package.
  9. I become a cop tomorrow.
  10. Anybody use a smoker? I have a non-electric one but haven't tried it out yet, partly for the time commitment of 8-12 hours of checking on the thing regularly.
  11. I know there's a couple different NFL options between streaming the game live and another official site where you can pay for a replay without spoilers if you can't watch the game live. I know my playstation has a "live events viewer" which I assume you can get on PC where you can pay for the viewing of a live event like boxing or whatnot.
  12. I was forced to use Windows 10 with the new PC I got. I wish I remembered exactly how, but I used a couple youtube videos that showed you where the toggles are to turn off most of the spying. But if you just want to delete stuff like Cortana, it's intentionally buried deep to make it difficult to completely get rid of. I recently turned off the requirement to use a password when it wakes up from sleep, but it isn't working. Also no itunes with 10. And the start window doesn't show the last-used programs like the last Windows did, so now I have to move stuff like the calculator to the desktop so I don't have to search for it every time.
  13. I think maybe we need a separate Bugging You thread specific to traffic and driving.
  14. My work hosts a fireworks show. Despite the show clearly advertised as going off at 9:00 pm, it's amazing just how many people show up at 8:50, are shocked and mad that first they have to wait in line, and then extra-mad that they aren't able to just drive right up into the two best parking spaces. Some people just believe the world revolves around them.
  15. Keeping an aquarium is expensive, and mine is only 55 gallons. $120 for a new filter after my old one crapped out. But the new one is supposed to be quite something and I've got a persistent algae problem that I can't use chemicals for since I have snails and shrimp. I think because it's the prominent feature of my living room I'm willing to go a little further to make sure it looks nice. A random and probably stupid question: I'm trying to attract more birds to my house. I'm right on a lake, so is a birdbath necessary? And "eats like a bird" really isn't an accurate metaphor (simile?) for eating little. It should really mean "eating a heck of a lot and making a complete mess."
  16. I haven't been to a movie theater in a while but all these stories of selfish people never thinking of others sure doesn't make me want to go to one. I have a good setup at home and there's no movie good enough I can't wait until it's on video.
  17. I kinda figure it's still early enough that teams with a need at catcher are still saying "Maybe he'll be ok" with the players they've got and won't be trading good prospects away for another 3-4 weeks yet. Maybe Stearns is playing the Boras game by setting a high price and just waiting it out until someone finally gives in.
  18. I was thinking how much easier it would be to work with a boss who already trusts you and would probably be more flexible in giving you time off work to help with the baby, as opposed to being stressed and sleep-deprived at home with a baby, and then going to work and having to prove yourself all over again there.
  19. If the NBA doesn't like teams tanking for lottery balls, why not establish the draft chances before the end of the season? Most teams won't start tanking if they're still four games off of the #8 seed, and after that day teams like the 76ers and Bucks could still play to win since it wouldn't effect their lottery chances. I'm optimistic about next season, especially for the thought that we could get a decent player back in a trade of Monroe during the offseason.
  20. Ross Stripling, making his major league debut, was pulled from a no-hitter after 7 1/3. Right move? Would you have done that as the manager? But a fun day of baseball. Brewers win on an illegal slide and then tune right to this game. Here's why Dave Roberts was right to pull Ross Stripling from his no-hit bid
  21. Lots of sugar ants in the house but 9:1 corn syrup to borax is working really well. Just put some in a bowl and add a little water now and again when to surface gets dry. The ants were all over it for about a week and now that particular colony is all dead. Ants feed it to each other and eventually feed it to the queen. Although a second colony has now found the kitchen. I have a sub-floor under the entire house which is a haven for ants and roaches. A bunch of ants don't bother me too much, but if I see another roach I think I'll choose to burn the house down. Although you can add flour to the borax mix and make a ball of it, throw it wherever and it's good for about three months. Works on roaches, too, and it's only mildly toxic so not that bad to have around with pets and children.
  22. Chase Field is only 18 years old. Good luck with that, Diamondbacks.
  23. Thanks; I obviously hadn't realized that. Maybe something will happen in the offseason.
  24. Trading Monroe now would have killed whatever FA good graces they've built up. Every mock draft I've seen has us taking a PF/C since no decent PG will be available. Since Henson doesn't seem to fit with the team there's no reason you can't get each of Monroe, Plumlee and another big guy plenty of minutes. That gives a couple years for a middling draft pick to develop, then trade Monroe at the end of three years and everyone ends up happy, including Monroe who would probably put up better numbers somewhere else.
