  1. Here is a data calculator to help you determine about how much you'll end up using per month. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/datacalculatorPopup.jsp?null
  2. I probably could have used this thread last week. I just went from a flip-phone to a Droid Mini. I mostly just wanted a smaller phone that would fit in my shirt pocket. I only have a 1 Gig plan and I doubt I'll come close to using most of that allotment. Although the information said it would last about two weeks on standby, I'm losing half of its power per day while barely ever using it.
  3. In only a month at my new job I've managed to break just about every flathead screwdriver I have. I've taken to star bits. And yeah, an impact driver is the best thing there is to get off rusty bolts.
  4. I'm on guessing, but could Milwaukee's physicians have been sent to NYC to have done the physical a few days ago? Usually "...pending physical" isn't much of anything, but this one they would have known would take some time. The trade is still being posted on some major sports sites. This is pretty rough PR.
  5. That's similar to how my mother kills chipmunks. Provide a gangway to a bucket, fill the bucket with enough water that will drown it, and put some food in the bucket. The chipmunks don't realize there's water in the bucket, jump in and drown.
  6. Not art so much as craft, but I did this today. It's in a shadowbox, so I stuck out the Calvin&Hobbes characters a little bit using pieces of foam.
  7. I'm still on Version 13, but I play it now and again. Like any game I play it a lot for a few months then nothing at all for another few. It's too bad the game isn't web-based, because I think it could really take off on that kind of platform. I had a lot of friends willing to play but it's just too difficult when you can't set up your week during work. Also because the Commissioner duties are fairly complicated in gathering up everyone's information and computing it. We haven't had much of an OOTP conversation on Brewerfan before, which is surprising. I'd like to tell you I'd be up for a league, but the truth of the matter is that I'd participate heavily for a good while but likely get bored of it in six months. If it were beer-league level I may, but it wouldn't be right for me to join a league of people who were truly serious about it.
  8. That's a really interesting trade idea. Even if you figure some continued offensive decline for Puig, the freed up money would be a huge gain for Milwaukee. Though I don't know Puig's numbers if he's really just an average player who has so far been a little lucky or if he should stabilize and be a decent player going forward. And it's not like the Dodgers have been hesitant to pick up salary and win-now players.
  9. I'm enjoying my new Silhouette Cameo. I've actually had it for two years but this is the first I've been able to use it. It's a stencil cutter, basically a printer that uses a razor blade. Today I took a photo of my baby niece and did a glass etching of her. Tomorrow I'm going to get a shadow box and print out some John Coltrane sheet music, and I cut out pictures of Calvin and Hobbes dancing (w/ the Silhouette) that I'll make pop out with double-sided tape and small pieces of foam. If you have other ideas on what to use for the backing of the glass etching I'd be all ears. I tried white and that doesn't work. I'm currently just using black construction paper which kind of mirrors the whole thing.
  10. I could see any ratings system being viewed by the player just like real managers view fan complaints: "You don't know what you're talking about." I'm a few hundred years into my team on OOTP. Still haven't drafted anyone good.
  11. "Mile Mile and a Half" is a documentary on Netflix about a group of people hiking the John Muir.
  12. I can't help but think of jobs I've had where I decided I wanted to leave for whatever reason. Everyday stresses become unbearable burdens, and to some degree the job is a nightmare of your own creation. Here is Lucroy. All year the only time his name is written is with the word "trade" in front of it. The team is atrocious and he's most certainly gone at some point. I can't help but think that at least partially, he's finding reasons for himself to be happy he's off the team.
  13. Since when is Miles Plumlee good enough to do anything on an NBA court? Since second-round picks are worth about nothing, why not keep the better center, even if it's just for a year? Or are we just way over roster spots?
  14. I choose to defer to Pogocat on any draft pick opinions. But I wanted to give a comparison to some other teams that generally haven't been super-good or super-bad in that span. (number after the name is the player's 2014 WAR or where they were in the minors last year) Cincinnati Reds 06: Drew Stubbs--2.7 07: Devin Mesoraco--4.8; Todd Frazier--5.3; Kyle Lotzkar--AA 08: Yonder Alonso--1.3 09: Mike Leake--1.5; Bradley Boxberger--1.8 10: Yasmani Grandal--1.2 11: Robert Stephenson--AA Oakland Athletics 06: No Pick 07: James Simmons--Ind; Sean Doolittle--1.2; Corey Brown--0.1 08: Jemile Weeks--0.3 09: Grant Green--0.1 10: Michael Choice--minus 1.9 11: Sonny Gray--3.2 Arizona Diamondbacks 06: Max Scherzer--6.0; Brooks Brown--0.6 07: Jarrod Parker--1.8 (in 2013; currently Tommy John); Wes Roemer--Ind; Ed Easley--AAA 08: Daniel Schlereth--basically retired; Wade Miley--0.8 09: Robert Borchering--A+; A. J. Pollock--AAA; Matt Davidson--AAA; Christopher Owings--AAA; Michael Belfiore--AAA 10: Barret Loux--AAA 11: Trevor Bauer--1.5; Archie Bradley--AAA Cleveland Indians 06: David Huff--1.0 07: Beau Mills--retired to raise bulls full-time (serious) 08: Lonnie Chisenhall--1.4 09: Alex White--AAA 10: Drew Pomeranz--1.5 11: Francisco Lindor--AAA Milwaukee Brewers 06: Jeremy Jeffress--1.5 07: Matt LaPorta--played in Mexico in 2014 08: Brett Lawrie--1.7; Jake Odorizzi--1.2 09: Evan Frederickson--relaxing on a beach somewhere 10: Eric Arnett--hanging out with Evan Frederickson 11: Dylan Covey--A+ with Oakland
  15. Initially I wanted to say that if everything else was equal, that I'd go with the performer who was the most revolutionary, but it seems like that's pretty much even as well. So I guess just based on whose show I'd rather attend, I'd have to go with Michael Jackson. It just seems like even if you totally hated Jackson's music, you'd still end up really enjoying one of his shows. If you didn't like Elvis music, you probably wouldn't have that great a time at one of his.
  16. I read that bullpen catchers make about $30-$60,000 per year. Certainly they have to do some extra work besides bullpen catch, so that makes for some pretty long days and you're doing it almost seven days per week for seven months. I'd imagine once the 'wow' factor of traveling with baseball players and working in huge stadiums wears off, the constant work and travel must be pretty grinding. Especially for that pay, the job doesn't sound too glamorous. Plus you'd have to watch every game of the 2015 Milwaukee Brewers, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  17. A cousin of mine did casting for Masterchef for a while and said Ramsey is one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. So I'd pick him. I get the impression he tempers his anger based on the professional level of the cook. Having the character of a family man is important to me, and I know zero about the home-life qualities of Judge Judy or Simon Cowell. Why is Kanye even an option?
  18. Thanks, Invader. I just came back to make an edit on the post that a handful of others have said the story is false.
  19. A report from onmilwaukee.com has said that Kidd will soon take over the GM role from Hammond in addition to being the coach. The article also noted that Hammond wanted to take Portis in the draft (me, too) but Kidd wanted Vaughn and won the argument. The article also noted that this may have been what brought Kidd to Milwaukee in the first place, an agreement to eventually get the dual role. This is a terrible move. Hammond has done a great job and the team is finally moving in the right direction. It was rumored that's why he left the New Jersey Nets and one of the big hesitations people here had when he first came on. We know Kidd is friends with one of the owners, to which I can't help but be reminded of Sal Bando, who is friends with the owner--do a bad job but have so much power that it becomes harder and harder to finally make the decision to move on to someone else. Terrible move.
  20. Congrats, Hawing. I hope everybody has a fun and safe 4th of July today. And know that whenever my coworkers (law enforcement) tell a story of an encounter they had, it invariably begins with "So these people had been drinking all day....." And for those of us who have to work today, I'll do an extra rain dance for you, too.
  21. I get that there was talk about trading MCW at the draft, but I don't understand why trading him is suddenly more of an option now that we've signed a center. We probably need to clear one of MCW, Mayo and Vasquez, but unless the coaching staff doesn't think he fits, why would it be MCW when the other two are one one-year deals? Right now it seems like Henson and Mayo are our most tradeable assets. Wonder how they'd look packaged with a 1st rounder?
  22. The great thing about baseball is its memory. Bust or no, you're not going to walk through that place without knowing who Pete Rose is. So the whole ceremony isn't for us; it's just for him. And he doesn't deserve it.
  23. Hometown ties are great and all, but Wisconsin really isn't a step up from Bennett's position at Virginia.
  24. I keep thinking that by not taking Portis in the draft, Milwaukee's plans really counted on landing one of the many good Centers in FA. I guess the best of what's left is Monroe or Lopez.
  25. It's kalle8. viewtopic.php?f=67&t=14390&hilit=italy
