  1. I feel like if Jeffress ever got on base he would be starting at 2B the next night.
  2. Based on an earlier post that person might be Sogard Sogard 4.0, now with 15% more grittiness.
  3. The Brewers shouldn't be serious about making a deep post-season run, so I'm glad they haven't made a move like this last year or this year. That's a move you make when you're already a great team, not when you have several areas of need.
  4. First 5 on your list are the ones I would protect. Would hate to lose Kirby/Bickford just to see what they become, but figuring there's a pretty good chance neither get picked up. Ponce, Perrin, Derby,Williams I would have kept at the beginning of this season now I wouldn't lose any sleep over them.
  5. If it's a LH coming up and Hader is available, I go with Hader. RH hitter, I go with Soria or Jeffress. I know that's a specific situation, and there are others that will be similar. Every game/ situation is different. But in your specific example, yea I roll with Hader vs LH batter even though I want to use him as primary closer. Because you could still possibly get the whole 8th inning out of him too in that scenario.
  6. I have no problem having someone as a primary option to use in that role. That doesn't mean nobody else can close. But in a 3-2 game, I want my best pitcher out there in the 9th as often as possible, and that's Hader. I also don't think Hader's splits should matter, he's still better vs RH hitters than Knebel. Finally, I don't think it needs to be the last 3 outs. Hader could handle the last 4,5, even 6 outs. Burnes, Soria, and Albers can now eat the innings Hader has been used for up until now.
  7. Jump from AAA to MB is huge, jump from CS to MLB is the Grand Canyon. Look at Phillips, Orf, Bandy... all kinds of guys have put up HOF numbers in CS and looked lost trying to hit MLB pitching.

  9. I think there's an obvious solution here, make Hader the primary closer. He has been the most dominant reliever all year. Also, I fear they're not going to use Soria correctly. He will be just one more arm to add in a game, shortening the outings of others. In other words, if they have a game they would have used Burnes, Jeffress, Knebel they'll throw Soria out there too just because they have him. No matter how good any of these guys are, the more relievers you use in a close game, the more likely one of them blows up. For example, Burnes had things under control last night, pulled after 2/3 inning. I get it was 2-2 at the time, lefty coming up, but it was only the 6th inning. Let these guys roll if they're pitching well! Try to get through every game with one less pitcher and you'll keep everyone fresher that way too.
  10. Concern is about 40 man next year, not this season. Since Soria could very well not be on the roster next year, it opens up a spot. Not saying that's the primary reason (or a reason at all) they made the trade, just pointing it out why people are bringing it up.
  11. Miley with a whip of like 148.2, yet kept us in the game. I expect not even a teeny bit more out of Wade Miley than that. Edit- Nice swing plane Yelich
  12. The Brewers have been connected to everyone possible so I'm taking this with a grain of salt. Having said that, Harvey would be a stupid move if we gave up anything of legitimate value. I firmly believe none of these national pundits actually exist. It's just high heat with 19 Twitter accounts.
  13. Never noticed this before, but Arcia wears his cap over his ears. Not sure if I've ever seen any player do that. Seems very weird and uncomfortable.
  14. I don't buy the premise. If he would have made the 40 next year or not, it's still a good trade. Why does it only make sense if he would have made the 40 man next year? (Which I'm sure he would have, by the way.)
  15. I had that same reaction. Just reading a post saying Perez and I got too excited. Honest mistake. I saw Perez and was hoping they just spelled Braun incorrectly.
  16. The money was always for this year no matter what. They get it at the time of the trade. Also, I doubt it has anything to do with the option year, I'm sure it was to round off the deal and won't be whole lot.
  17. I see that as Plan B. Pretty clear Stearns is still very active in the SP market, so they could add a SP via trade. Also, I see some people talking about sending Burnes down to get stretched out. No way! Not at this point in the season. If they do move him into the rotation, no need to send him down. Just start off with 4 innings or so the first couple starts. Heck, most starts are only 5+ innings anyhow for this team, so not a big deal.
