  1. Sorry to take this out on you Yellie, you're not the only one who has made this type of comment. Here's why: OPS vs LHP Arcia: .414 Perez .832 Not to mention Perez has been hitting .977 in the 2nd half of the season. (That's against ALL pitching.) So no, Perez in the line-up does not usually fail again and again. What usually DOES happen is a big game from whatever player you guys don't think should be in the line-up.
  2. Maybe. But unless there's proof, I don't believe in even suggesting this. Same thing with Santana being lazy. These guys get paid a lot to play a game, so criticism comes with the territory. Just my opinion, but I draw the line at calling out someone's effort, not being coachable, etc.
  3. He's keeping his front foot down, finally.
  4. Well, it's an important role. As long as people keep bringing up CS stats, it needs to be pointed out. I mean Santana has Bandy-type numbers in CS. Really doesn't matter, he'll be up in September (or sooner if there's an injury) regardless of his CS stats.
  5. Good thing CC reads the forum every morning, not sure what he would do without us!
  6. Want to get nuts? Let's get nuts. How about adding Corey Ray to the 40 man and bringing him up in September? Could be used a PR, but more importantly a PH off the bench. Looking for raw power late in a game? That situation where you need one big blast? Corey Ray gives you that. Yea, I know, more likely to K than hit a bomb. But there will be situations where it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. When they really need a run or three in the 9th maybe I take my chances with Ray vs Kratz, Saladino, or whoever else is left on the bench by then.
  7. What's wrong with pressure? If he can't handle the pressure, how is he going to handle the pressure of a big AB the last game of the season to win the pennant? He's not a child, he's a professional athlete that deals with pressure every day. Besides, I really don't buy there's any more pressure batting 4th in the line-up vs 6th or 8th.
  8. Agreed. I would add a caveat, Schoop wasn't brought in to contribute over the course of the entire season. He was brought in for the two month pennant drive, so coming up on two weeks of horrible performance is a big chunk of that time frame. But there's still a lot of games to be played, and Schoop could be the hero in September. That's, of course, when all the people calling for his head will quickly come here to post they were wrong.
  9. I know two things: 1) They are 11-0 in games where the Polish won the sausage race and the roof was open* 2) They are 276- 11 in games that xxxprincefielder attended. (My apologies to those who aren't familiar with the reference.) * Completely made that up.
  10. It's also really not hard to believe that "something" is cheeseburgers.
  11. My response earlier was to a poster who said Phillips was blocked, I pointed out he was NOT blocked. If his bat started speaking loudly, there would have been room for him. In your list above, Santana is on the 40, so not exposed to rule 5. Thames would move back to 1B, and Broxton could be traded or DFA. Not to mention other trades they could have done in the off-season. You make room for a superb defensive OF who can hit. Point being, he wasn't traded because there's no room for him- he was traded because he can't hit.
  12. Wouldn't be surprised if Sogard is brought up. Don't shoot the messenger.
  13. Bad baserunning, Padres deserve to lose. Seems like those plays always go in the Brewers favor.
  14. Maybe he just needs glasses?
  15. Agree it's about money, but at some level it doesn't make sense. If you're a Yankees fan, for example, don't you have 50 sources of info on them without needing ESPN? I rarely watch ESPN, MLB, NFL, etc. networks anymore. But when I do it's to find out about all the other teams I don't follow closely. Anything ESPN has to say about the Brewers will be old info or wrong info. Fact is, they don't really know. What if they led off with big stories of the day about the Brewers, Indians, Dbacks, etc. Who knows, maybe ratings would be the same. Maybe higher, as the Yankess/BoSox fans have to wait longer to see their highlights. Doubt it, but just throwing it out there.
  16. Fizer Forum. It's going to be the 41 Forum in my heart. Fiserv Forum actually. And 4-1-4orum is already catching on, for better or worse.
  17. You keep saying this in various threads. I get this is what you would have done (or still would.) But when did anyone from the Brewers say a 6 man rotation was the plan? I don't remember them saying that, and it doesn't make any sense to take a needed arm out of the bullpen. In fact, if anything, I think they would go to a 4 man rotation with all the days off they have moving forward. But I don't think they do that either. They will use those off days to rest starters as needed, keep Peralta's innings down, etc.
  18. With this same sentiment, I could be a signal that Stearns was doing his 2018-2019 offseason work early and acquiring a starting 2B for 2019 season. This would allow them to NOT rush Keston Huira and count on him as our 2020 starter at 2B. He might have figured that although there is not a need for Schoop now, I'm sure Counsell can work out the lineups and it gives us some nice offensive depth for our 2018 playoff push. I'm sure the Orioles convincing Steans that Schoop can play some SS sealed the deal. If true, I still do not like the move and think it's a mistake. Don't even think Schoop will be worth paying what he will cost in his final year of arbitration next season. Really think a Ortiz/Carmona packaged deal should have landed us a controllable SP upgrade. You can think that, but obviously it wasn't enough or a deal would have been done. Stearns was trying to trade for a SP more than anything else, and looked into all of them. It wasn't enough. And when you add the word "controllable" it wasn't NEARLY enough.)
  19. - Phillips was blocked and would never see regular playing time - Ortiz was stuck in AA purgatory and we have plenty of young pitching depth - Meideros was, at his ceiling, a bullpen arm...those are a dime a dozen - Carmona was an athletic upside piece still 4 or 5 years away from the majors All these guys helped bring in two very good major league players to help the Brewers make the playoffs. Also, none of these prospects were having very good years so I don't think they are valued as highly as some people on this forum tend to think. I guarantee that's what Stearns saw when he tried trading putting them in trades. Honestly, the bolded part just screams of describing guys a certain way to make your point. Phillips was not blocked. If/when his bat came around he would play plenty. Braun is a part time player, Thames could have gone back to 1B- and he's a FA after next year. Ortiz I was never very high on, but he still projects to be in a MLB rotation. Medeiros ceiling is higher than a dime a dozen bullpen arm. Carmona is not necessarily 5 years away from the majors. Even so, talent is talent. Yea, it's no like these are can't miss guys by any means. But I also think they have higher upside than you're giving them credit for. Pretty sure the teams that traded for them think so too.
  20. Moose trade made perfect sense, they needed another LH stick. Schoop is a different story. Stearns was trying to get a SP and couldn't get one without giving up a top prospect. Schoop was a fallback at the last minute just get someone at the deadline he thought could help the team. Will he? We'll see, thumbs down for me but I get why he did it.
  21. Exactly. Plus, I bet Hader would be available even if he pitched 2 inning 2 days before. I get the plan with him all year but this is the playoffs, and that plan isn't written in stone. The whole idea was to keep him fresh for the pennant chase and playoffs. Once they're there, I think they ease up on "Hader rules."
  22. Williams. Everyone has a bad outing or two, he's had several in a row now and has options. I've always been a big Williams supporter, but he just hasn't been good for a while now. They can throw Albers back on the 10 day DL too, bring up QTC.
  23. Was it ever confirmed that was even on the table? All I remember was one idiot LA reporter talking about that. Hindsight is 20/20. Kemp was very expensive garbage before his renaissance this year. There's no proof any trade to the Dodgers was on the verge of getting done. Yes, I'm sure they were exploring it but we have no idea if the Dodgers would have ever actually pulled the trigger on any deal.
  24. I'm thoroughly convinced Arcia just doesn't pay attention to the coaches. There's no way they could be ok with his approach. He has zero hope. I disagree, he has hit the ball well in general since he came back, even has a couple walks. Tues he was horrible again. He's a work in progress, but zero hope?
