  1. It's more the "clickbaity" type subject than the arguments going on in the thread. A better subject would maybe have been something like "Braun's Future with Team" or "When do we move on from Braun". But the subject the way its written doesn't point that direction to a lot of people. That's a fair point, and I have no problem if the Mods want to adjust the subject line. Or, like I said, lock or delete it. Fine by me. I specifically used the word "When." Not "DFA Braun Now!!!" But I agree with your suggestion.
  2. I agree, lock it or even delete it. People aren't capable of having an intelligent conversation about the subject. I'll still maintain there's at least a 50/50 chance Braun will be DFAd, or negotiated retirement, however it technically happens. There is a huge performance risk and injury risk, and it's crazy to believe he won't make it through THREE more years? If you believe he can/will, great. I do not.
  3. They did. The Celtics without Kyrie, plus they played well against them this year. Still, something rubs me the wrong way about how they mailed it in. I just don't like seeing that in any sport. They should have just played the end of the bench and have them play hard. Still would have lost, but go down with the players on the floor trying hard.
  4. Not really. You just can't expect a pitching staff to keep a team to 2 runs or less every single night. They need to score more runs, and hopefully they'll have Yelich and Cain back soon.
  5. Just think of the dessert bar waiting for you Albers...channel...channel
  6. Keep in mind, Houser only pitched 29 innings last year coming back from injury. No clue what their plan is, but may be tough to have him in the pen all year and try to limit his innings. As we can see, there won't be much rest for anyone in the BP.
  7. Nottingham is finally making some progress again, by all accounts, both defensively and at the plate. I wouldn't want to screw around with him, just leave him be and stay on course. Plus, I want to see Bethancourt. There's at least a chance he would be a better option than Bandy, and maybe even Voght for the rest of this season.
  8. Thanks for that info! That's why I have so much confidence that he can be a really effective MLB starting pitcher. 92 FB and 80 change is a combination of success for a starter. You don't need to throw 96 when you have a really good change. I hope you are right. His body type and stuff doesn't scream "durable ML starter", which worries me. I am encouraged by the Pedro comparisons, though, and you can't complain about the results. His stuff definitely screams durable MLB starter IMHO. Body type is a legitimate concern, but there's enough guys of that type who have had success.
  9. I think they realize Drake and Hoover aren't world beaters. But as you said, Williams has options. Could be Barnes, but I doubt it. That's just the way it is, guys like Williams, Houser, etc. who have options will be shuttled back and forth. Like it or not, that flexibility really helps when you have minor injuries like this, need for a fresh arm in the BP, etc. It's basically a way to have an 11 man BP.

  11. Any word on Peralta's velo in his first couple starts?
  12. Nice ab for bandy, and Mr 10th inning strikes again . More Orlando magic!!!
  13. Bullpen gives up 2 runs in 4 innings and you all want the entire bullpen DFAd. Deep breaths for everyone, on me.
  14. Hader is an All Star? Missed that announcement I guess. Where's Chacon and Suter? Who cares. Where's Burnes and Peralta? They haven't proven themselves at the MLB level, so why would you want them to have a spot?
  15. Hader did that in the minors for years at an extremely high level. Now suddenly it's impossible for him to pitch 5 innings?
  16. Knebel Albers Williams Jeffress Jennings Peralta Houser Lopez Suter Griep and others. Who can give you 5 great innings to start a game? A lot fewer than that. I think all of us who want to see Hader start have admitted we don't know for certain he would be a great starting pitcher, or how long it would take. But I dismiss the notion he can't be replaced in the BP, they have a ton of options there with more on the way. There shouldn't be any doubt Hader is more valuable being used in 150 innings as a starter vs 80-90 innings as a reliever. Putting up zeros is just as valuable in the 1st as the 8th. Very simply, you want your best players on the field as much as possible. Is there a risk it doesn't work? Of course. But after 40 years of not seeing the WS, I would be willing to take some chances. Worst case, he goes back to the BP.
  17. You are waaaaaay to hard on him. It's like you almost don't want to believe he's a good pitcher. No, just a bit realistic compared to others. People are pleading for him to get a chance and dream he is a future ace. That despite showing little to believe he can be highly successful as a starter. He was more successful as a starting pitcher in the minors than any of the other names being thrown around. Does that mean he is a lock to be a great starting pitcher? No. Neither are Burnes, Peralta, or anyone else. But it just isn't true to say Hader has shown little to believe he can. In fact, he is one step beyond the others in that he has also proven he can get MLB hitters out.
