  1. Whenever I see him on the court I'm shocked by how small he looks. If he has a taller, lanky guy at least I would have hope he could turn into something.
  2. Which made no sense at the time, or now for that matter... Best we part ways, but why he didn't get a call was hard to understand. They wanted to look at Wilkerson instead, who has options. That's what you need for your 6th-8th starter types.
  3. Not sure what shooting from over 5 feet away has to do with defense?
  4. My guess is they didn't see him as a reliever in any way, which makes sense. So if he's viewed strictly as a starter (with no options) there's several other choices to hold down the #5 spot.
  5. This is a clear sign Hader is being moved to the rotation.
  6. Well, the current Packers personnel proved last year that they are completely ineffective in zone coverage. I'm sure you'll see some variation of the 46, along with a ton of different formations. If this is a defense that relies on players being in the right position, it wouldn't surprise me if the team makes a big effort to resign Burnett, while possibly cutting Matthews or moving him to ILB. Here's hoping whatever his scheme is it doesn't involve leaving guys wide open in the middle of the field.
  7. Can't disagree with any of that, and didn't mean it make it sound as though I'm defending Kidd. We don't know how much of a voice he's had in the roster construction, but I'm pretty sure it's not his idea to have only two big men- one mediocre and one bad. That said, Kidd is horrible. I am alarmed that they almost never have ball screens for Giannis. They don't work the offense to get open looks from their 3P shooters as every other team seems to do. All too often it's Giannis or Middleton in ISO. Ridiculous. And the defense, don't get me started. The league has figured out the Bucks defense like two years ago. Draw the double, then kick it around the perimeter for a wide open corner 3.
  8. Wisconsin beats Miami on the road, and drops in the AP. Makes perfect sense doesn't it? Even worse, Miami was being picked by a lot of national talking heads to knock off Clemson and be a real factor for the Natl Champ. That was with like a wee or two to go in the regular season.
  9. Why do they have to move anyone off the 40 man? it has been reported that boone logan has signed a major league contract with the brewers. the 40-man is currently full. Got it, yes, a spot needs to be opened up for Boone. But this is the Bethancourt thread, so I thought people were implying a spot needed to be opened up for him.
  10. Why do they have to move anyone off the 40 man?
  11. Wolf will be gone. Sucks, but no way they were going to keep all these guys around forever, someone had to go. Will be interesting to see how this new structure works. I really have my doubts, but we'll see how it goes. Looks like Fangio is the front-runner for DC. Last time the Packers had an older DC it worked out very well, so I'm open-minded about it if that's who they hire.
  12. He's trying to win games without a true center, and only two big men on the entire roster- including one who isn't close to being a finished product yet. Then they have 4 PGs (if you include Payton) and about 26 SG vying for playing time. That makes it tough to win games, it also makes it tough to make everyone happy. Jabari coming back may help in one way, but takes minutes away from others. Don't get me wrong, I think they need to move on from Jason Kidd too. But, as usual, he isn't completely to blame.
  13. This is a MiLB contract with camp invite. There will be more of these at virtually every position. Really nothing to do with catchers currently on the 25. By the time April rolls around I really doubt all those catchers survive the 40, but I also doubt Bethancourt will have anything to do with that.
  14. That's about right. However, I'm still not so sure they got it wrong. More passes to the TEs and RBs, more slants, more designed runs, designed roll-outs, and frankly running the ball more in general all would have helped Hundley. You can't have your entire offense built on the WR sideline screen. But yea, doesn't matter being in a system for 3 years, live action is a different animal. For all we know, he could get better. Kurt Warner was another guy who got kicked to the curb all the time until he figured it out. Is Taylor (Bills) better than Hundley? If so, barely. We need to look at Hundley through the lens of a backup NFL QB.
  15. Couldn't agree more. I quickly ran win totals for these teams. Combined the AFC East aside from the Patriots hit double digit wins 9 times in 17 years(times 3, so out of 51). They won 6 or less games 21 times in the same timeframe(over 40% of the time). This year seriously highlights just how lucky they get...having to face Mariota/Malarkey at home to get to the conference championship. I don't understand how the line is less than 20 points, seems like easy money. And you know the Jaguars are going to find a way to beat the Steelers so Brady gets to beat Mariota and Bortles on his way to the Super Bowl. This season, there's no doubt they have an easy path. But most years they had a couple great teams to get through. Broncos, Steelers, Indy and Baltimore in their day. I mean, this year the NFC isn't that great either.
  16. That song by Papa Roach. Worse yet, I heard it by accident over the weekend and it's stuck in my head.
  17. Games this weekend reminded me just how much I hate instant replay in all sports. It kills the excitement of the moment, and then they get important calls wrong anyhow.
  18. There's no problem relying almost exclusively on draft/ develop if you draft really well. They won a SB doing that with Rodgers, Matthews, Raji, etc. He brought in Woodson which worked out well. Problem is, much like Ron Wolf, TT ran out of steam as the years went by. Nobody is going to have a perfect record on draft day, but TT had some bad drafts, and whiffed too often in the 1st round. Hard to draft and develop guys that don't even belong in the league. Then in recent years he developed this odd fascination with players from the West Coast. When you fall in love with one scout over all others, it's a problem. Agreed, I think the downfall of the packers were that, the last 3 drafts were not that good and TT had no backup plan for Rodgers going down. Jones and King will probably be good but were just rookies, but after focusing on defense the last few seasons, besides Martinez and Clark, there wasn't much there. Also after being caught with no plan in 2013 when Rodgers went down, you would think they would have a better idea than throwing out Hundley. If they had a veteran QB as a backup I think they are a playoff team even with Rodgers for the last 3/4 of the season. Look at what the Vikes did after Bradford went down. We'll probably never know, but Hundley could be MM's failure. Maybe he really believed in Hundley, and wanted him as the backup- after all the time and work invested in him. Honestly, after watching the games this weekend, Hundley isn't that bad of a back-up QB. MM just failed to make the right adjustments to win football games with Hundley at QB.

  20. My biggest issue with k cups, one size is watered down the next smaller size makes a little over half a cup.
  21. Isn't that to some degree how Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin have kept their jobs? Heck, their Super Bowl wins were longer ago than McCarthy's. Not necessarily. Marvin Lewis has held his job for many years as well, so has Jason Garrett. Every situation is different. But neither Tomlin or Payton have lost several playoff games at home. It's hysterical, some fans even think it would be an insult to fire MM to bring in Belichik. Hey, MM is a good football coach. If you don't believe me, just ask him. But he has a ring, he has a street named after him, time to turn the page. We saw this year how good of a coach he is without Aaron Rodgers.
  22. It'd be a pretty rotten thing to do to McCarthy who won a Super Bowl for your franchise but I could see why it would be appealing. I don't understand the fascination with winning a SB many years ago. Does that give him a job for life? Not sure why it's rotten to fire MM and hire BB, it's a business. Just as MM can fire assistant coaches who won a SB, and TT fired players who won a SB.
  23. If you look at the top 10/20 shows in the ratings every week, these shows dominate. I've always wondered about that too. I've never seen a minute of the Voice, Dancing with the Stars, or any of that. Guessing I'm not in their demo though. I did intend to see Donald Driver on DWTS but I forgot about it.
  24. Costco's concept has never been about choice. And now the large grocery chains are starting to follow that model. They have more choices than Costco for everything, but still less than they used to. As with most things, I've turned to Amazon for my bulk coffee beans.
  25. How about Braun? As he's getting older, maybe he changes his approach a little and focuses more on OBP and less on power? But I don't care very much who it is in 2017. We'll have a better idea for 2018 after a full season of Phillips, Brinson another full season of Arcia. Also, still a very open question who will be starting at 2B in 2017, let alone 2018. (I do kind of like the concept of Arcia at 6 spot though, due to his low k rate. Nice fit if the big bats in front of him get IBB, fail to drive in the runs, etc.)
