  1. Really don't know, very I interesting. This is the type of deal they should be looking at at least. Sometimes you need to take a risk, and I love that too prospects don't need to be involved. If they werent already saddled with Nrauns dead money, woyld be a lot easier decision.
  2. I've long waited for the day to not see Suter as a top 3 prospect in rankings. Like Suter but no where near that high of an opinion on him as a prospect. Who is next Clancy?! Yamamoto or Perrin? Nope you don't even wanna know. Was going to be Cooper. Hint is initials RG.
  3. Let's start another thread.
  4. Would need to see it again, but almost looked like Perez didn't move, Arcia noticed so went to cover.
  5. LouisEly made a great point earlier in this regard. They could have him pitching on the side working on his mechanics. Not that we should automatically accept whatever they do with a player, but sometimes there's more to the story we don't know.
  6. Clancy must feel like a proud father right about now.
  7. Guys......don't take the bait
  8. Honestly, I don't even think it was a very good movie. Some great lines, a few great scenes, but in general not very good. I'm probably all alone on this one, I get that.
  9. I don't know we can have it both ways. Most of us seem to want to see Brinson, Phillips, Hader, Woodruff, Burnes, Wang, etc. get a shot to play full time in 2018. I know I do. If that happens, I don't think it's fair to expect a playoff appearance, or even compete for one. Maybe all those guys come up and play great, and they're a contender. Maybe none of them pan out and they will be well below .500. Chances are, they will be somewhere in between. But the goal should be to continue to find out who can be contributors, who can be a star, etc. That doesn't mean you punt the season. The goal is still to win games. But when you're doing that with a lot of young players, unfair to EXPECT them to win 90+ games.
  10. So...people in favor of a machine aren't looking for one that just guesses? You could program the machines to blow a call a couple times a game to keep it somewhat human ; ) But seriously, if replay is acceptable why not get most important part of baseball right-wing balls and strikes.
  11. Everybody is out if 2B ump had his way. Hes going to start ringing guys up at the plate pretty soon.
  12. Hey welcome wolfpack! What brings you to these parts?
  13. If Stearns rents a bullpen arm for a couple months and gives up significant prospects in the process, it will be the first time he does something counter to what I thought his plan has been. Just seems like the opposite of what he believes in, can't see him paying a premium for a trade deadline reliever.
  14. My expectations for 2018 are the same as 2017. That they continue to follow the plan, and the record is what it is. Not trade prospects for a rental bullpen arm, not avoid trading assets like Knebel, Thames, Shaw, etc. if the right offer comes along. 2018 will be about introducing a few more prospects into the mix, and continue to mine deep to build the rest of the team. Impossible to predict or expect a certain record, just continue the process of injecting young talent into the 25.
  15. Suter is a LH version of 2016 Davies. Ride it while it lasts.
  16. That's fine, except your bar has moved from your original post "retire as a Brewer" to now (5 years+) That's a big difference.
  17. Here I've been thinking all year Aguilar = Cerrano. And yes, whenever I see bits and pieces of Major League, we always laugh about how we bet Braun is just like Dorn off the field.
  18. Yea, getting into uncharted territory with Knebel and Barnes, but as long as they're in the race I think they ride it out with them. As for Hader, yea the issue isn't number of innings- it's how they're used. When a starter's arm is used to pitching every 5 days, probably not wise to suddenly have that arm pitch 4 times a week. Especially if it's a young arm.
  19. Bullpen roles are silly. If Hader is the best matchup for a hitter or a group of hitters, he should pitch against that hitter of group of hitters. Whether its in the 5th inning with 1 out or the 13th inning with two outs. Roles are why bullpens fail because managers fall in love with preconceived notions of situations rather than the facts of what is happening in the moment. I agree in general with that. But Hader's case is unique, because he was stretched out as a starter, and used to pitching every 5th day. Now ask him to rather suddenly pitch every day or every other day, and that could be an arm problem in the making. That's why they may be working him in as a long reliever, and then later this season they have the option of putting him back into the rotation or using him more in late inning situations. I have no idea if this is why they're using him this way, but it makes more sense that "babying" him, since they haven't babied any other rookie.
