  1. Why not? ERA is a small part of what they would be looking at. Do they think he's ready to be thrown into a pennant race? Does he have the stuff to get LH hitters out at the MLB level? Many, many things to consider. But sometimes in spirts you need to make a bold move. I would be fine with giving Supak a start and see what happens.
  2. I liked it better when we had five aces in the rotation.
  3. There is no place for Shaw until/unless Moose or Thames are injured or traded, that simple. Otherwise, we'll see Shaw when rosters expand. Regarding Hiura, add me to the list of people who didn't think he would be this good this fast. That said, I'm pumping the brakes a bit until we go though a round or two of pitchers adjusting to him and see how he reacts.
  4. Actually, Anderson has reached the 3rd time through the line-up in EIGHT of his starts this year. To be fair, he's on a very short leash after the 2nd timed through. It's not just an Anderson thing though, it applies to all the starters. But Anderson carries a lot more history with him than some of the younger starters, so the data is there to be very careful with him after 2nd time through. That's just smart. The key will be 2 out of Peralta, Burnes, Houser need to step up and pitch very well down the stretch. If they do that, we will see more of what you (and others) have brought up before. Formula would be solid 5 inning starts, then 2-3 innings from Peralta, Burnes, Houser, bridge to Jeffress and/or Hader. (Or mop-up guy depending on game situation.) That's not a piggy-back or tandem, etc. Just more games where the long relievers get involved. Easier said than done though. Rotation has to deliver a lot more "Brewer Quality Starts" which is 5 innings/2 runs. And then you need the young long relievers to be consistently really good. No more time for anyone to "work it out." Do all of that, and they still have t probably trade for another late inning reliever. So it's possible for the pitching staff to be good enough, just need a lot of dominos to fall the right way.
  5. Agree. I don't care too much what order you put Moose, Grandal, Hiura but they should be 3-5. That should actually be a pretty easy decision. I've even thought about Hiura leading off, but now that Cain seems to be getting back to form, probably leave well enough alone there.
  6. Dropped by IGT since they're winning, figured there may be less negativity and snide comments. I was right, only 80% of that tonight instead of the typical 90%.
  7. Extend him? Why not trade him? Get a couple top shelf pitchers that are MLB ready or very close to it. Real contenders need big time starting pitchers. I wanted to believe otherwise, that the formula almost worked last year so stick to it. Truth is, we're stuck in the 1950s I guess, because it takes an incredible amount of luck to win it all without a couple great starting pitchers. Look at this roster, and look at the system. There is nobody on the horizon. So next year you maybe lose Grandal and Moose, Braun and Cain are a year older, and stuck with a fairly high team salary. Enough. Pull the trigger and sell Yelich now, talk about sell high! Hader too. Focus on building a great pitching staff and fill in position players with Dubon, Grisham, Shaw, etc. You guys will hate that, fans in general will hate it, but it's the right thing to do.
  8. What is necessary about the US women's soccer team. People pay attention to it for acouple days every couple years. If these players dont want the experience, fame, and some money that come along with it, plenty of women just as good who would love that opportunity. Ditto for minor leaguers. They get paid to play a game, and have a chance to make it to the big time. The vast majority only last 2-3 years, it's no hardship.
  9. I’m starting this off by saying I’m probably more bullish on our minor league system than most, so with that said. A bat(castellanos) or two(Walker) a couple of pen arms(Smith)(Diekman) a call-up or two(Grisham?Freitas?Devin Williams?Perdomo) all mixed together should get us to the playoffs > cheaply enough. Not going to give up that much to acquire those players because of the rental effect. And I would argue, we’d possibly be the second or third best team behind the(possibly best team since the 98 Yankees and top 10 team of all time dodgers), and maybe the Braves, Cubbies, but right there nonetheless. If we’re not gonna give up a lot of prospect capital, why not sign some rentals? Are you buying or selling? In another thread you're talking about trading Hader. Why would you trade Hader, but buy a couple bats and relievers for a playoff run? Also, regarding Houser, you seem to really take the ceiling of a pitcher and believe that's absolutely, no doubt, what they're going to be. Nelson, Burnes, Peralta, Perdomo, Rasmussen, others I can't recall. Now Houser. There have been thousands of pitchers who had as good or better stuff than any of these guys who were never any good in MLB, or had a brief stint of success and vanished.
  10. **Stranger Things Spoiler Alert** In some ways I like season 3 more, but in other ways I thought it was the worst of the 3 seasons. I just can't get past the whole Russian base under the mall thing, just came off as a James Bond spoof or something. Also, as someone who "came of age" in the 80s, they tried WAY too hard to hit us over the head with 80s clothes, products, music, etc. I'm just dissapointed because they could have gone a lot of interesting ways in season 3, and the Russian thing just didn't work. Also, the whole Mind Flayer and Upside Down were always mysterious and scary. Turning it into basically just another monster chasing them around was a mistake. 1/3 Wonder Years, 1/3 Bond, 1/3 Alien = Meh. Incredible ending though, literally had tears in my eyes.
  11. It was much better than the egg laid by the USMNT against Mexico. You know, after looking at how the USWNT has done compared to the USMNT, I just can't support equal pay. With four World Cup championships, and four Olympic Gold Medals, the USWNT has posted such performance that they deserve higher pay than the USMNT. That's similar to saying if Milwaukee had a WNBA team that won a few titles, they should earn more than the Bucks. Or take gender out of it. What if Biloxi won several titles, should those players earn more than the Brewers? The men bring in far more money. Surprises me, but they do. If they want to pay the women the same as the men, that's fine with me- but I don't think they NEED or should do that.
  12. I don't think their lines would be similar. At best, Saladino may have slightly better Avg/OBP, but he definitely wouldn't match Arcia's slugging. I mean Saladino isn't a big mystery, he was up for a stretch last year and we know what he is. As for shopping Arcia, they very well could be. They have nobody left in the minors who could be a headliner in a trade, so if they want one of the big name SP they will need to offer guys like Arcia, Peralta, Burnes. Not bringing Dubon up doesn't prove anything, as they wouldn't do that until Arcia is actually traded. Until then, they don't want to bounce Dubon back and forth. Just keep him in AAA until he has a full time spot in Milwaukee, or is traded. Even is they bring Dubon up this year to be the UT guy, they likely want more ABs under his belt before they bring him up to help with the transition of not playing every day.
  13. Robin Lopez is clearly a better fit than Kaminsky. One thing I've noticed, defense really gets short-changed in evaluating players, especially interior defense. Having an anchor for 48 minutes is huge, aling with his energy off the bench. What does Kaminsky give you? He's not even a very good shooter for a stretch 5. Yea, we all love the Tank. I'll root for him, but glad he's not on the Bucks.
  14. Given the cards they had to play, I think Horst has done a better job than I expected. With nothing but my gut to go by, I don't think Brogdon wanted to be back. So they got a 1st, two 2nds, Lopez, and Matthews for that space. A quick hot take. Everyone is shooting or will be shooting 80 3s a game now. Bucks need to be better in other areas, with Giannis, Lopez, Lopez, and Ersan I think interior defense and rebounding could be huge advantage for the Bucks next season.
  15. As I predicted, everyone back except Brogdon and Miroric.
  16. You know the reason, you just don't agree with it. That's fine, just saying it's not a big mystery.
  17. That rotation that's a mess could look very different in just a year though. I don't think it's hard to envision Corbin Burnes following Woodruff to be a #2 type starter and we've got depth. Either way, I don't think this team need to sell Yelich and Hader and hope that we can turn around and become a winner again in short order. Could. I mean anything could happen, but I dont see WS rotation or even the makings of a really good 1-3 that can compete in the playoffs. Burnes of all people certainly cant be counted on. True rebuilds are no fun to go through, but after a few years neither are Herb Kohl Bucks "competitive" teams. If the goal really is to win a WS rebuilding may be the best way forward. Alternative is for Mark A to really blow out the payroll for a couple years. I would prefer that, but thats not likely either.
  18. If its not looking good in a month, I would be fine with tear it down mode. Sell Yelich, Hader, anyone with value. Could even lead to a top draft pick or two. Wouldn't go over well with almost all fans, but arguably build a better conteder in a few years. I bought in to the concept that SP wasnt as important as I thought, but now Im not so sure. Rotation is a mess, and not likely to get much better next year. Not calling for them to burn it down, just saying I would be fine with it.
  19. I'm not getting into whether or not Shaw starts, but I'm fine that he is. He hit .862 and .825 the last two years. Not for couple months, two entire seasons. So yea, if they want to give him a long leash I get it. Shaw at his normal .850 is much better than any of the AAA guys, except maybe Hiura. And I'm not even coynting him, he's back up soon regardless of Shaw. Just option him to AAA!!! Maybe that hurts more than it helps. I will trust the coaching staff who has all the facts vs all of us bozos on the internet. At this point Im guessing they ride him through the break.
  20. It's just poor marketing. Instead of adding a fee, it should be a discount for cash. It's all about how you present it.
  21. $5 on $22 is more than enough, that's 23%. I would be tempted to tip $4, but that seems cheap instead of just making it $5. Mine costs $15 before coupon, and I tip $3. Don't feel bad about it at all.
  22. They are reportedly shopping Ersan as well for cap relief. I share your concern about the big men, especially if they do move Ersan. Becomes critical if they lose Lopez too. I'm hoping since they're trying to move Ersan they're pretty confident they can bring Lopez back. All that said, chances are very very slim to none any big man at 30 would be in the rotation.
